Still haven't forgiven them for canceling City of Heroes and Wildstar.
You can play City of Heroes right now. Go nuts.
I do. It doesn't change that they canceled it. I donate to keep …
LiveServices is a factor. These days we're expected to devote our spare time to one game. It used to be MMOs, now it's the CoD or other LiveService game with heavy monitization. We're seeing a video game crash from excessive corporate greed, but I e…

What's the harm in keeping old favorites alive? The fact CoH is still around shows NCSoft was wrong to cancel it. Maybe that's the harm. Those in power don't like to be proven wrong.

How reasonable were the expectations in the first place? I have the feeling they were crazy high so they could lay people off then get a bonus for "saving money" when the shareholders got annoyed.
I'm on the fence. I didn't like the districts in Civ6. Now I hear about microtransactions and lots of DLC and other monetization. I'd rather wait for the reviews and a Steam sale.
It looks like you get to keep what you built, you just get a new empire name, leader, and set of research projects. That part doesn't worry me as much.
Districts are still there. That's bad. You can be prevented from learning some technologies. That's also bad. Pre-order bonuses. Really bad. I'll wait for a sale.

So what's the difference between a "live service" where you can play with other humans and an MMO?
All MMOs are live services, but not all live services are MMOs.
Overwatch is a live service. …
For me it was Earth & Beyond. I loved flying around and zoning out as I gathered resources. The fact other people were playing and chatting added to the experience. When EA pulled the plug, I never bought another thing from them. I considered EV…
Depends on the game. I play two. CoH and ESO. CoH I make an alt when there's new power sets I want to try. In ESO when I run out of content. But since I was late coming to the game, I don't expect that to happen.
