I cannot agree with you more. I have not found any game that can begin to replicate how Pre-CU made me feel. No other game I have played has been so alive, or had the freedom to do whatever you please. Truly the best MMO ever.
I have too many fond memories of AoE2 online. I loved the mods like Castle Blood, and regular deathmatch, ah! Good times from my childhood! lol I never got into SC nearly as much as I was an AoE fanatic
