Why would anyone be surprised over 20-30 years for an MMORPG? In 2019 EverQuest will be 20 years old, Ultima Online is already 20 years old. As long as they keep updating the game and don't screw it all up, BDO could easily last 20+ years.

They could do what Shroud of the Avatar does. They could do 12 hour streams where people can donate money. Give those that donate at least $5 bonuses such as pets the follow you, costumes, etc. Things that won't give you a bonus to things like stats.
