Everything is so streamlined these days. It’s fun and convenient, but I do sometimes miss the old days in Everquest when things took time, and conversation was as much a part of the game as earning xp and loot.
I miss the simple LFG tool in Everquest. All these group finders are so mechanical and specific. I miss getting randomly invited to some crazy shenanigans that isn’t an endgame dungeon or pvp arena.
Sucks when soon-to-be-forgotten games have one or two really clever or revolutionary pieces of development. Does anyone remember APB (all points bulletin)? The game had the best character customization I’ve ever seen. And is now largely lost to obli…

New idea's and originality are dead in MMO's though. Every single one of the upcoming MMO's are the same few idea's - just with sexier graphics.
What you see is not MMOs not innov…

Irrelevant to whom? It was and is a real experience. Maybe you just don't like the terminology.

This notion that the game "were better" is ridiculously arrogant and out of touch with any logical analysis. Developers who actually think it was their game that made people play and trying to recapture that moment are hunting for f…
I hope I’m around for the next big thing. I feel like the ingredients are there, we just need the right catalyst to take it to the next level somehow. I would hope that most players want to be part of something special or sacred; to be given an expe…
Not much on my wishlist worth going for this time. Still have some unplayed games from last time tbh. If I had to pick a couple it’d probably be Madden 21 or Cyberpunk 2077. I’ll wait for now.
Sounds like WoW or ESO, or any game that involves RMT for in-game items and services. Players are mining currency through loot and the corporations are making money selling it back to players through subs/seasons. I suspect online games to be behind…

I'd much rather play a game where skills train with use and there are no actual character levels. Character levels are so year 2,000-ish.
You might like that but those who complain about character lev…
Leveling is the only fun and worthwhile thing left in these games, imo. Endgame has become a bad joke, compiling all the worst mechanics and attitudes the genre has to offer.
The players that play miltiplayer games these days are mostly hyper-competitive, so it really doesn’t matter who the devs try to carer to, imo. The novelty of the internet has long worn off, so the communities just eat each other alive one way or an…
I like ESO model the best. I get the most value for an optional sub, with a highly forgettable cash shop for those with a hole in their wallet. If desperate whales want to pay for the development of a game I enjoy, I’m happy about it.
