Why not play Quake Live? It's exactly what you're looking for and is the best skill-based shooter out there next to Counter-Strike. Another option is gungame (CS:GO calls it Arms Race) for Counter-Strike. That's pretty fast and fun.

WoW is probably your best bet for casual gaming. You could take a look at Secret World or Guild Wars 2. Otherwise you may have to dip into the asian side of the pool, and I don't really know much about that style of game.
