Videogaming since 1984 when I got given a Commodore64 for my birthday, & playing MMO''s since 1999 when I started playing Everquest, quit EQ in September'08 to play WAR but have also played a number of other games either on release or in Beta, currently I play SWTOR.
Have been a member of Darkwind since 2005, who started up in 2000 in EQ but have gone on to be active in many games, currently we have an active presence in Vanguard, Age of Conan, Warhammer:Age of Reckoning & World of Warcraft, with a few active Warcraft 3:Defense of The Ancients players too.
Vanguard does have an emulator but it is still missing large parts of the game & the pace of development is glacially slow with a very small number of dedicated people doing any work on it, so it's a bit hit & miss but still worth a look.

Since that rumour went out we have seen a few things to corroborate it, which could mean some of the rest will hold up. Just Survive did indeed sunset, a PS4 H1Z1 is going ahead & the Planetside Arena announcement kinda fits the "Planetside 3" r…
From reading the FAQ GrandMasters (lifetime subscription) need to log in before the 5th of April & then by linking their old TSW account with the new TWSL account they will get lifetime patron status.
I've read a lot of nice words on possible MMO Concepts in the past, this looks like more of the same, lots of ambition, really sketchy on the details, there is going to need to be more concrete info before I'm even going to get interested.
This, to me, is 100% the fault of Columbus Nova, EQN was going to need further funding & they are at zero interest level in spending money, only milking it from their holdings, they have a lot of prior form on cutting staff & not investing, …
I would say that MMORPG'#s have gone through 3 generations, pre-Wow - the games that WoW largely borrowed from, WoW-Era - where many games attempted to replicate WoW's formula & Post WoW where games were trying to break the WoW mould and the MMO…
Vertical progression becomes the hamster wheel of loot in MMO's, ultimately it is very much still a work-in-progress to figure out how to effectively extend MMO life-spans while retaining current players & gain new ones, the longer a game exists…
My understanding was that a slew of DDOS attacks have been plaguing the TRION servers as well as the wider internet, the server infrastructure of the internet itself has hit a "brick wall" recently with many of the backbone servers having filled-up …
My take on this is that gaming has been around long enough as a physical-media based activity & is going through the same evolution in delivery of content as news, tv, film & music are going through.
I hope a certain amount of content remai…
the expansion has 3 collectors editions available, of them the top 2 have a "instant level 60" potion, worth thinking about if you wanted a return but hadn't made it to 60 previously. you get a set of 60 gear included with the level up process givin…
For me the thing that lets the game down is the combat.
1. It is clunky, repetitive & the flow is stilted, kinda like stop-motion done badly
2. The game needed a bigger range of movements & the setting called for vehicle use
3. Mob densit…

Those who claim that rifts soul system is the best thing in any mmo, obviously havent played a sandbox mmo. The soul system in rift is a heavily reduced version of the class systems in sandbox games.
Name some.

Tony the tiger... they used a Lion, more Lionel then?
I preferred the Tiger-based look of the Kerrans in the Gabor art to the Lion-based look shown at SOE Live, Lions have a huge Mane which tends to give them the appearance of a head much bigger i…
Personally I'd recommend RIFT, it takes a little while for RIFT to really shine but once you hit Level 20 & start doing a few more things the game gets much more fun.
I'll be playing EQN, because it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Playing RIFT & TSW right now, previously played SWTOR, WoW, WAR, MxO, CoH, EQII, EQ, and a lot of other stuff in between.
Good, fun article & I think some of the points are very good ones that resonate with me too while others are personal nit-picks.
My wish for no species restrictions, if it is smart enough to know to wear armor & wield weapons it should be p…
After looking most UK stores have it between £15.99 & £34.99 still, only Steam & Origin have it at £6.99 - but I don't really want steam or origin so I'll wait till the price filters through to the rest of the retailers.
This thread has troll-bait written all over it, well OP if you don't care why write a thread about it, just move along and read something else.
Maybe you aren't aware of the fact that the front-page reflects what is happening & what is active a…
