Nothing new, Funcom did it in Anarchy, and again in Conan. Advisors of Rubi-Ka and Followers of Asura, in game volunteer CSRs. SWG also had the Helper system in game, not quite CSRs, but in game volunteer player helpers.

Eclipse SWG server, played on a couple of different servers for SWG, but the community on Eclipse was the best (in my opinion), played lots of MMOs since, lots of different servers, nothing has come close to matching how Eclipse was.
