pardon my pitifull grammer i do not bother with the rude people here.
hello people, ill get to the point. I got WoW, but am having second thoughts on keeping it. I have FOUR days to deicde to keep WoW or trade it in for an equevelant game. ( not my point, juat find me an mmo that suits me best )
WHAT I LOOK FOR IN MMOs(not in order):
*** = important TO ME
- ***a HUGE, talkative, nice and active community, i dont want nerds that can only focus on grinding thier butts off. ( hig high high number of people. )
- ***MUST BE FANTASY *NO* SI FI
- I WANT TO SUMMON THINGS! EVEN IF ITS ONLY A FEW SPELLS IN A CIRTIN PROFESSION. i need sommoning.
- good lore, an intresting map. I want the map to be complex and exciting.
- ***EXTENSTIVE MAJOR MAJOR CHARECTER CUSTOMIZATION! im talking hight, facial hair, face, nose, ears, race, gender, skin color, hair styles, i want something that you WANT to do. a big variaty in proffesions, races, skills, armor, weapons, quests ect.
- i want promt up-dates. Not one lame and expensive add-on evrey other year. I don't mind expansions or add on though.
- ***a FUN game. I do NOT mind "grinding" as some people call it, but i need a reson too. high levle caps grab my attention. I want to feel like their is always something to do even if i hit highest levle.
- ***i love grouping/raiding/GvG. it could be PvP or NCP. i don't care. I LOVE BIG ON-GOING BATTLES!
- i dont mind graphix that much, unless its like runescape or something. then its a no. i like WoW, and GW's graphix.
- good game-engine i dont wanna lag all the time (i have a decent computre)
GAMES I HAVE PLAYED/PLAYING IN THE PAST:
- runescape
- guild wars
- DAoC
- WoW (just started.. so yeah)
- city of villans/heros(trial)
- EVE online(trial) <--- i really really REALLY tried to enjoy this game- no luck.
- dragon fable(not really mmo, but still)
- gunbound

WoW is the place for you, no doubt.
You have the grammar skills to match.
Besides that, okay place once you find a nice guild and your type of gamestyle. It really doesn't force you to play any one way...
Third time's a charm, eh?
I don't bother with rude people either.
No way i could pick a game for you because so many games meet most of that criteria.
Nice talkative community exists every game, just a matter of luck you find the right people to match your chatting style.
Most games that are not korean solo type offer some sort of summoning.Again can't narrow it down.
Interesting map??tons of games have this.Good lore?this is one maybe i can answer,as the only game i have seen with actual lore is EQ2.You learn the language and lore of the mobs and different races.
Tons of player customization is one i cant figure why peeps get excited?By time you start playing your player will be covered in all sorts of gear that doesn't leave much of the customization showing anymore now does it?Unless you want a game that doesn't show any of the gear?i don't know.
Most good games offer updates as they are needed.Personally i would rather wait a year for one GOOD update than junk every mnth or so,id like to think you feel the same way.
Grinding?Pretty much every mmo has grinding, and always for some sorta reason,be it grinding to get next level, for better gear or grinding to alot more skillpoints.
As far as good game engine goes,i think you been misinformed.Although it is possible for poor netcode to cause some lag,the quality of the game engine really has nothing to do with lag.Your system can be taxed by the game engine either by poorly designed zones,or by using tons of animated graphics,or by using lots of hi res textures or lots of creative game meshes [players/mobs/items]Your graphics card can't handle it,therefore it starts to cache your HD in turn slowing everything down.Lag is a term that commonly refers to your online connection stability.[Packet loss/high ping]This again is not engine related other than to say the game uses alot of information transfer to in/out that perhaps your connection can't handle. This again doesn't mean good or bad, perhaps the server is limiting the bandwidth you can draw, perhaps someone with an awesome machine is enjoying a great visual game, whereas your machine is dumbing things down to allow for your netspeed.
Best game engines that i know of are ID's[quake]/unreal/half life[valve]tons of games and upcoming games are using these engines.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I can't believe you guys are actually suggesting games for this guy.
I say Runescape.
A Work in Progress.
Add Me
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Runescape... but 1 thing, dont anticipate to much about the graphics, its a boring game for those who want that type of game...(the one who dont give a dam* about the gaming...just want graphic.. but hey! you don't seems to be one of those.. so Cheers* Runescape
Me myself, is waiting for WAR, but meanwhile.. il stick with small free mmo's.. Maybe WoW...

Man! Would you stop that shameless promotion !
It has many of the features the op is looking for.
or are you one of those "I don't like it, so other peope must not like it either!" people? If you are, I ask you kindly to shut up.
Considering how many you have tried I'm sorry to say that you are now entering the "Twilight Zone" which so many of us on this Forum are presently lost in.
We all know how bloody good a bloody good MMORPG can be, but the present crop of credit card whores offer little more than a quick three week thrill followed by a sense of boredom.
#1= Try all the free trials.
#2= Buy cheap from "Amazon" ( I got Matrix Online for £3.00 ... not bad for 40+ hours entertainment )
#3= Join the rest of us who pray nightly for devilerance
I can't be botherd to spell check deliveriansce so shoot me down on that one folkss
I found all that you were looking for, well most of it anyway, in old swg, before you had to choose your class. I know its sci fi and you said no sci fi. I really wasnt into star wars / sci fi games coming from a background in EQ but I had to admit I had a lot of fun in that game. Too bad they nerfed the game so you cannot customize your skills. The visual customization tho was what hooked me. So many different clothes out there, hardly anyone looked alike. Most people you could tell who they were by their looks.
I'd say play original EQ. I hear there are 2 new servers that are fairly busy, altho it is a dying game as much as I hate to admit. I still want to go back to it, so maybe one day I will. I'm currently thinking of going to EQII. I played it before but it was a watered down version of EQ. It was like WoW in that it offered me no challenge. No reason to just explore like its predecessor. Is this helping you any? probably not. But I want a new mmorpg too with a lot of the same things you want.
