Why in hell would SOE make a "The complete star wars crap expansions bla bla bla" and then turn into classic servers?
That would be a total waste since they are sold in"NGE" and then suddenly change to Pre-CU.
So if there even now are going to be classic servers (which everyone of you still lingers on with in the back of your mind) It will be quite a while.
All this crap about classic servers or the game is dieing in a last effort to bring back players they make a classic server.
Nah i dont think so.
Starwars Galaxies, An Empier Diveded, That's what it says on my box anyway.

version of SWG, it would be on seperate servers from the NGE
ones. The game is dying. They are still bleeding
subscriptions (although at a slower rate due to having less to begin
with).
I highly doubt SOE would ever offer classic servers based on the fact
that they have been at war with the SWG playerbase since the CU was
implemented. You don't go out of your way to piss off your
customers for a year and a half if you're interested in them continuing
to be your customers. SOE will write off SWG shortly after the
'complete' box flops and ride it out until the contract is up.

First off..
"That would be a total waste since they are sold in"NGE" and then suddenly change to Pre-CU."
They probably learned somewhat of a lesson and aren't going to just say Oh sorry NGE players... but pre-cu ftw.
They (if they did it) would probably follow Mythics lead with DAoC and make one or two classic servers. Then if enough people were coming to those servers bring up more.
And...
"All this crap about classic servers or the game is dieing in a last effort to bring back players they make a classic server."
If you still play...
Can you honestly tell me that going anywhere on every server but say... Mos Eisley... you see enough players to rate the game as:
not dying??
I see more people in EQ1/2 than I do in SWG and that isn't saying a heck of a lot. I probably saw more people in Horizons the last time I got a free trial than I see in SWG.
But that gives you the idea eh? Horizons is still around... so SWG is probably in no danger of shutting down soon.
We can debate and insult each other all we want.. At some point whatever happens will happen... then it won't matter what any of us said.. unless we were right. So until then.. whatever.
The real question is.. Would classic servers even bring back that many people... Or is the next expertise patch going to bring out this mythical player base... that isn't "in" game.
Check your history. They have done it before. While I dont believe they will do classic servers it wouldnt surprise me if they did. Its how they have operated in the past.

So I ask you, given the history of SOE in throwing away progress, i.e. Raph Koster's original design, CURB, and the CU, how can you possibly think logic and SOE have any relationship to one another? They don't! They are complete strangers to one another. Wherever the Ouija board points is where Smedley and Gang take SWG. Please stop giving them credit for either caring, or thinking in advance. They don't know how to do either.
I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever

Ive never heard the term
bio-linking. I assume you mean WYSIWYG loot (which is also an ersatz
term that Ryan coined). But maybe you mean soulbinding.
Does anyone actually know when the license runs out so this dying dog can be put out of its misery?
"There's no star system Slave I can't reach, and there's no planet I can't find. There's nowhere in the Galaxy for you to run. Might as well give up now."

Guys Im sorry, but this is almost dead on right here.
I hate it, I miss it but this is just the fact of the matter.
They will count this game as a loss, there is no money to allow for classic servers.
It is a 6 year old engine right now as we speak.

I usually picture the Career builder commercial with the room full of monkeys and upside down sales chart when thinking about the SOE/SWG decision making process.....

I just have to point out something about SOE. The way they program is very much like a strand of DNA. Nothing is actually destroyed new things are added, and old things are merely turned off. All the Pre Cu code is still there, and they ship the product with the old Pre Cu code intact. Atleast its a relative certainty. We cannot be certain till it ships, but its a safe bet all of Pre Cu will be on those disks.
That being the case a reversion is ridiculously easy they just send you a file to delete all the later additions to the code, and if you like you can even go and manually remove the pubs yourself if you so like. Early on in SWG players had to do this a few times when the devs released a late patch that busted something severely. Anyone remember the infamous we all play on test center night?
Converting the expansions is not hard either. Creature stats were often changed in the weeks leading up to the NGE. I saw it myself on numerous occassions. Creatures shifting levels, and sometimes even resists. I was a MCH so yeah I know my critters pretty well. Especially since I was on a tame athon to get all the skills. Item changeing is not all that hard either. Not that the SWG dev team does a good job of it, but every quest reward could have a codeing change in under a week.
This is a invalid argument it can be done in quick order, and even if SOE for some reason did not include any of the Pre Cu code in the complete disks. They could accomplish it with a download.
