Time it take for people to respond to beta emails?

Using the saga of ryzome as an example, there will 1000 people who get beta emails, the first 500 to reply get the beta, how long does it take them because I wont be home right at the exact time so what if i get an email and I get home like a half hour after they are sent out?
Will I still be able to get in or will all 500 people have replied?! *cries* I have never won anything in my life

So, the WoW beta sign up has finally begun. The time for thousands and thousands of middleaged virgins to apply and get rejected is at hand.
I guess really depends on replying back by email or having to go to a site to confirm. I think it's the lattter, right?
