when you open up the program, and the terms of agreement window comes up, where you have to click I accept for it to go to the patcher, there is a little box in the top left hand corner i think, that gives you the choice of US servers or EU servers, you need to uncheck the EU ones and it should be fine.
(I might be a bit off, thats just what I can remember from when I had that problem about a year ago)

Even better - and this was found in EQ2 support section.
You can install EQ2 in diferent folder, and set that one to work with US servers !
So now you have EU servers EQ2 and US servers EQ2
