Yes but only if its set Before Episode 1 or after Episode 6.
My whole thought on SWG was as follows
Original SWG was like the episode 4-5
C - U SWG should have been seperate servers set in the New Republic (instead of village have a Luke Skywalker Jedi Trainer School)
NGE SWG should have been seperate servers set in the old republic. Since Jedi are all over the place in NGE it only makes since for ti to be when Jedi where actually all over the place.
then SOE would be making loads of money over 3 Very Different server sets, and all the fanbase would be happy.
WOW I think I should be the VP of my own Dev Company. lol
Oh come on all you people who are saying you wouldn't touch it if it was made by SOE...get real, you Know you would at least try a game called "Star Wars Galaxies 2" developed by XXX. I kno I would, especially if it was built from the ground up...
I would certainly go give it a try. I had to say yes, but I don't want to see SOE do it this time. Sure, they would make a great company to hold the server space for sure, but I do not trust their ability at making games. I'd like to see Lucas Arts do it the whole way or maybe Bioware.
Wait for ccp to enhance their galaxy with planetairy flight, walking on stations...then perhaps on planets. Buy license to use the engine, and make starwars galaxies...the ambitious way!
I picked number 2 because I thought this was the closest to "yes I'd definitely play another Star Wars MMO, but ONLY if SOE has nothing to do with it, and LucasArts makes sure the game sticks with its original intended audience, and does not cause them to lose a year and a half worth of accomplishments and another online community of friends because of corporate greed, arrogance and stupidity.
Loved the game when it was released but as so many quit it after a year still dream back to the days when i woke up and had a battle betweens rebels and imps just outside my house. The lagg from the beginning era of the game and some euro servers was all that i would need for it to have been the perfect game. (was a bit annoying that no one was online when i was, when it was it lagged.)
I played SWG for 2-3 yrs and loved every minute of it until the first major nerf. My toons were mayor's of our 2 guild metro cities, I had crafter's, a couple of Jedi's, and spent over $150 a month on my accounts.
I would not vote for a SWG2 because it seems like the only thing that ppl like SOE care about is capturing the casual player who is 13 yrs old rather than us older players.
Every time I saw a major complaint on the SWG forums I got nervous because I knew that SOE would nerf the game, and they did not once but TWICE! In the 2nd nerf I lost over 200 million in assets and most of my guild quit the game. It destroyed most of the communities and whole cities became ghost towns.
Most of the devoted long term players just logged in day in and day out and played the game...we didn't spend our free time posting complaints on the forums. I'm not even sure if all of those complainers even played the game? Yes the game needed some upgrades but to change the game completely overnight just blew me away!!!
SOE could have built a new game leaving the old intact and given ppl a choice. The old style might have died a slow death but we would have had a choice!
I miss the days of Ultima Online but have found that I can't go to the old style graphics; oh I wish that they would take UO (the exact game that it is) and upgrade the graphics. I don't need a game to tell me what to do next - I like big open worlds where I can explore at will, make friends, and build houses, craft and sell my goods.

They're actually working on a new engine for UO. I actually just cancelled my UO account a couple months ago. The sandbox world and skill system is what drew me to SWG 3 weeks after launch. Where else could I be a dancer/pistoleer/medic/CH? Play SWG from any time in the first year and a half after release? Hail Yes!

Yes I would support it 100% and hope someday someone OTHER then SOE does it.. Bring back 20 professions where people can customize their own character..OR.... have offer MORE then 1 character slot per server.. NO ONE , likes being the same thing day in and day out all their life.. If I want to be master entertainer and novice artisan, then let it happen.. My character was a master musician and novice pistol and CH.. I loved it.. However, our guild disbanded and 80% quit and I followed and canceled my account a month later of hoping for fixes..
PVP was game breaking, too many being forced into PvP .. TEF's destroyed most of the combat in the game..
Crafting had an excellent start, but collecting resources and using factories hurt that field.. Unbalanced crafting also aided into the downfall of being an artisan..
Quest (aka missions) were BUGGED TO HELL and back
The problem that our guild ran into was that the devs NEVER listened to any advice from the players since Day 1.. Most of the problems could of been fixed, but no one wanted to listen.. The only solution now is to come out wtih a complete new SWG II and start with a clean slate.. I would love to have a hand in that development
OMG.. Someone spent $150 a month in SWG subscription accounts.. That is 10 accounts.. OMG.. I'm laughing my booty off.. 10 Fricken accounts.. YOU are your own guild.. Can I make a suggestion.? Get out of the house and make friends.. lol I do golf leagues myself all summer long, and bowling leagues in the winter.. I just can't imagine a game so GOOD, that you have to own 10 accounts so you can play with yourself.. Let me guess.. you had 2 or 3 computers running at one time too? and did you Macro grind all your toons to master as well?
I would like to see another star wars mmorpg but with some conditions.
1. No SOE. They cant be involved at all. I dont want them as the publisher. I dont even want them cleaning the bathrooms for the dev team. They'd somehow find a way to screw the game up.
2. No KOTOR clone - I dont want a linear game where im forced to follow a set path. KOTOR to me represented everything that is wrong with today's rpg's. I want freedom, I want open play, etc. Think Fallout 1-2 for a really decent rpg.
3. No WoW clone - WoW is fine for the kiddies but i like my mmo's complex and long-lasting. I dont want some punk kid to come in and be able to compete with my crafted goods if Ive been playing for 2 years and he's been in-game for a week. He should pay his dues and take months before enough decent spawns happen before he's even remotely close to me. MMO's should reward long-time play and dedication like SWG pre-cu did.
4. forget balance - yes i said it, to hell with balance. Its not necessary for everyone to be equal in an MMORPG. It shouldnt be hugely imbalanced but there should be some. Players will always find a certain class/prof combination that will be the most successful. The developers shouldnt be wasting their time trying to nerf one over the other all because a bunch of pvper's are whining on the forums. A skill-based game is all about choices. If you choose to be a rifleman / novice artisan/ pistoleer then you therefore pay the price by not being able to kill that 100% combat tkm/swords/pikeman toon.
5. jedi - move the game to a diferent timeline and then they can exist but still be hunted so theyre still at war and have to hide. Right after episode 3 would be the perfect time-line. Or the other option is move timeline to after episode 6 and allow for a sith revival and also BH hunts (both still require a jedi to remain somewhat hidden). Allow them to be the alpha class they are supposed to be. The village was an okay idea but needs more...perhaps keep village but make it tougher to get the old man to come to start. Maybe by having to complete a series of requirements that are unknown (and remain unknown) would only then unlock the old man visit which leads to the very long village grind.
6. pvp - allow set bonuses with imperial armor and rebel armor like WoW does. This improves the stuff and gives an incentive to wear it. fix battlefields and give out rewards for winning them besides some faction points. And improve the factions rewards. allow some player cities to designate themselves pvp zones if they so wish. they get benefits from this but also everything can be destroyed. no decay from pvp.
7. no changes to crafting except fix some of the bugs and give droids more useful options.
8. make sure the game remains a virtual sandbox world that we live in. No linear quest driven mmos for me. Yes some quests are fine but not like WoW please.
9. deliver like what was promised to us in beta. make an underwater gungan city. allow us to swim underwater everywhere and find stuff. add content, missions, quests, etc to all the Points of interest that were currently empty like the ewok tree villages, etc.
10. expand on the marauder storyline.
11. allow BH to hunt something other than jedi. smugglers would be ideal, especially if they dump their cargo at the 1st sign of trouble
12. give us some real end-game rewards, something really cool like if i do enough for the nightsister clan i am given permission to live in a small hut on dathomir. (still keeps the planet unbuildable and wild but let a few live in some pre-fixed hut somewhere) maybe allow a BH who successful kills his 1,000 mark a reward from the Fet man himself, etc. SWG needed end-game content besides farming 24/7 for skill tapes. Perhaps a jedi who manages to remain unseen gets a reward from kenobi.
13. good side / bad side - allow actions to give a special kind of faction point called good side or bad side. It would be most interesting to see an imperial try and maintain goodness lol. Allow quests access based on faction alignment with good/bad. And of course jedi good/bad side would lead to obvious implications.
14. skill based - no levels period end of story. allow us like in pre-cu to choose to be a droid engineer with some tkm abilities, etc
15. crafted goods are always (99%) better than drops. and take out those stupid kashyyyk rewards. No drop or quest reward should ever be better than a player made item. and of course bring back decay. anti-decay kits are fine as a vet reward but only allow one per person and non-tradable. (maybe give 1 per 2 years played so if game lasts 4 years its possible to have 2)
16. give prestige points for houses based on the number of rare loots inside on display. assign points to items based on rareness. Houses can display new titles, increase storage space, allow for paint colors, etc as the house increases its prestige points.
17. capitol ships- allow guilds to control one. make them completely player crafted but requiring parts from ALL player crafting professions.
Oh and did I mention no SOE ?
My best memories are hunting in solitude and feeling my heart race as a blue dot appeared on my radar.
All you people who claim you wouldn't play SWG2...STFU. You would play it in a heart beat because you obviously care about SWG. You wouldn't be reading this if you didn't.

There are so many out there like me that although totally pissed at what SOE did but most likely more pissed at what they didnt do, they will still come back no matter what they say here.
Its just the resentment coming back into play. Not at all suprising after the devastation of having your character of 2.5 years deleted (past ranger correspondent here ). I say id never go with SOE and im all likelyhood ill stick by that. But if by a mirrical SOE get the go ahead and by an even bigger mirrical, they change how they opperate culturally and organisationally and put out a cracking SWG game full of the exploration, epic gun battles and amazingly deep cities i will play. Ill bet my house on that.
I was glancing at some of the new titles coming out and saw that Gods and Heroes was being canceled witch led to my favorite upcoming mmo Star Trek online. That brought me over to this fantastic forum once again. There are a few new things coming with galaxies iv read in the last few days, one that everyone must check out is true Galaxies for all the old veterans of what used to be pre cu. There are some great forums for you to tell your experiences with the old system there http://www.truegalaxies.com/forums/. I still want a Star Wars Galaxies 2 to come out, maybee by EA games or something, that would be cool, or like Mythic or something.

I'm part of the #2 "Only if SOE is not involved" crowd. It is appaling that SOE runs their business the way they do.

I'm undecided because if SOE is involved I'll have to skip the party. But if Bioware is allowed to make a KOTOR MMO you'll see me there.
best quote EVER
I am supporting SWG2 all the way.
But i am suggesting the OP of this thread to expand this poll somehow,
Just ask "Do you want SWG2 ?" and answer is YES or NO
and lets try to show this more people so more people can VOTe. maybe closing this and carrying this poll to THE PUP section will be good imo..
