France and the US used to be huge allies, we still are, there's just a lot of smack talk going on under ground between the two. If it came down to it though, the US and France would have each other's backs in, say, another World War or such.
What greater tribute to free will than the power to question the highest of authority? What greater display of loyalty than blind faith? What greater gift than free will? What greater love than loyalty?
Well if you want something very current the Ghan, a number of French have died there, also their continued support and fight all over the world against terrorist organizations, in fact the French have a far greater intelligence organization then the United States has, this is the real world not some TV show or some hyped up Hollywood movie, they have sacrifice a lot for the United States and have saved many American lives at the cost of their own. They have also put their own people at risk for attacks simple by standing with the United States in their time of need case in point (The attacks in England and Spain and planned attacks in Canada and Paris). Before you go off and start blabbing your mouth you should really take a vested interest in people who you evidently do not have a clue about. French people do not hate Americans, they dislike the present Government, in truth how you can blame them, most Americans hate there present government too. Bring it on down now.

Please read up on the American Revolution.
Actually, I was hoping for something a little more recent, since they "continue to do so right up to this very day".

I know a few soldiers and no matter how... Unmotivated (my country has fucking unions for soldiers for god fucking sakes) they are they seem fairly fired up when you talk about the formar world wars.
To put it in the melo words of one of them (still a pretty young guy but meh):
"If it's for a just cause I wouldn't mind taking a bullet for someone of another country."
Not an exact quote but he did mean to include the US in that list of countries. I'm pretty sure the same goes for many people in France or any other NATO member.

Will you please stop with the "bring it on down now"? Its not cool, its not funny, its just damn annoying. On a sidenote, I don't hate the french. Imo, Paris is the most beautiful city on earth, and If I only spoke the french language, I would move to paris in a heartbeat.

Italy > France IMO, though France does have a lot of beautiful cities. In my opinion, Europe in general has much more too look at. No surpise I guess, it has a much longer history than the US. Man, now I want to go on a Euro trip, lol.

I have strongly considered to apply for a position as GameMaster for World of Warcraft, since its European HQ is in paris. but meh..I never pushed through the idea.
By the way, my personal opinion is that the "hate the French" came from the US servicemen who fought over there and when they return post-war they acted like the "ugly American tourist" and got treated rudely. They came back and said, "those ungrateful bastards." This is where that American arrogance comes in that was talked about in another thread.
Personally, I don't know anyone that hates the French. It sure is fun to push their buttons though, maybe it is just a difference in taste in humor?
no one took my flame bait... thats amazing for these forums
I don't hate the french but theres a few annoying things. the language itself for a very minor part, and how the french govt politics oppose ours(the right ones) a little too often.
and a few funny things, the only ones that are memorable really is how the french govt is trying to 'perserve the culture and language' via doing everything google does... while that might be important as an american I don't see much of point(yes we do have culture, and the good version of english(call is bastardized if you want)).
though I think it comes down to the fact that the french are at least just as arrogant as us.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Perhaps the French should stop wondering why America hates them, and start wondering why the whole world views them as stuck up jerk offs? Which is saying something considering their competition is the USA, and we're pretty damn stuck up.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Okay, but by this logic, there would be -2 Frances if it wasn't for the USA, so we win Meh, only -1 france, because it would be likely that WWII would not have happened if germany had won WWI.
Wonderful, another "somebody hates somebody else" thread. I don't know if I'm supposed to hate Europeans, hate French, hate US citizens (what everyone else is calling Americans), or just hate myself. We're all Earthlings, does that count for something?
The irony of this thread is that, despite the attitudes of their respective populaces, the French and American governments have been very strong policy allies throughout the history of the two nations. Do you think the hyped-up squabbles in the chambers of the Big 5 mean anything? In the end, the countries back each other up, but they do so quietly. Why do they support each other? There's a common history shared by the two countries. French philosophers like Montesquieu were stated influences of our nation's early great minds, men like Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. By the same token, France would later come to think of those Americans when it tried to form its own democracy.
In addition, the two countries found common cause in many wars, France giving aid to America in both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, and the converse happening during and after World War I and World War II. Less well-known is the quiet support the countries have lent each other in all of their respective minor conflicts, things better kept out of a hostile press critical of the opposite nation.
That said, the French are filthy, unwashed bastards. The only good thing those cretins ever produced was French fries.

the frenchies despise anyone who can't speak french.they live in a time warp where their fleet still rules the seas and napolean still trots round on his pony beating up the english.
they also surrendered when the first german set foot on their soil in ww2,though it must be said that the german buildup was watched by the world, and had the french resisted initially they would have been slaughtered.
their pomposity is entertaining though, and peter sellers kicked kato's butt every time
