They are releasing it in under two months, and Sigil has already proven they really don't give a crap what the players want, its all about their "vision".

The game sucks, end of story. It has -zero- hope long term. I put more hope in LoTR online than in Vanguard after playing both for several months. It will appeal to a very small subset of mmo gamers and for them it will be the holy grail, for the vast majority of people however, they're NOT going to like it or enjoy it over any give long period of play.
Nope, LoTR online was created by Turbine so now it won't be a hit, just like DDO.
I have a great idea for all the naysayers. How about instead of bashing the game, you go to the beta forums(once you can access them) and give the devs some feedback instead of coming onto the MMORPG forums and talking crap about it.

I don't even know what people are talking about, "play the game for a month." I logged on for 20 minutes and that was 18 minutes too long.
Is there some kind of supersecret trick to this? At the default settings, (which look like hammered crap) this game played at around 3-4 FPS on my computer. At 1600x1200, Oblivion runs at ten times that speed.

The game as it is even now - unpolished and buggy ( though much of that will apparently be fixed before launch) im having way more fun than i do raiding naxxramas for the 50th time in warcraft or mindlessly doing the same old boring BG's over and over. I played since beta 4 and i recently preordered it cause its simply so much fun and engaging (love the combat and crafting) and reminds me of the good times in eq.
Just accept that there are plenty of people who have tried and love this game.
oh and to people who whine about performance, just take it like a man and accept that your computer aint good enough and lower it to the lowest settings like most of the people. (not even your 2000$ computer is good enough for high quality).

In my case, I went to test, and they told me no thanks! LOL. I'd think that valuable input, regardless of what "type" of beta account you have, it valuable input. I was not impressed with their customer response/service or lack thereof. Ask anyone in beta how many posts they saw in the beta forums from devs helping players deal with issues. We saw posts daily to the hype engine (the main forum) but after the SOE merger (i'm not saying that's the reason, but it was the timeframe) the devs simply seemed to abandon the beta forums <shrugs>. I judged them more over the issues they had with their forums returning the "too much traffic and come back later message" than I ever did on the design of their game. The game is, and probably always will be, just an average culmination of current designs from various games that the original creator/designer felt fit into his/her idea of a perfect MMO. If you think like the original designer does, then this will be a great game. If you are jaded by time sinks, grind fests and so on and feel there should be more, you will probably be disappointed in this one. But like I've said before, no matter what I or anyone else tells you, you should try it for yourself. Everyone is different and we all have opinions that fit ourselves, not you. You should form your own opinion and not let others think for you.

And alot of these guys can't stand WOW. I thought WOW was a fun game up to lvl 60 and now I'm looking for something different. You have no idea what you are talking about. Sigil wipes every beta forum after every beta release and then starts a new forum. They will wipe the beta 5 forums after launch along with the current ones. They also delete any negative post they see on the beta forums that points out the major issues with the game. How do I know this ? Well because I was in beta! It wouldn't matter anyways because the final beta is not going to be one used to change basic core gaming concepts they've implemented in the game so far. You are in beta 5 because you got suckered into buying a Pre-Order box or FP subscription.

Only difference is, in the game..eventually the (yes as painfull as it is it will be after launch) the bugs will get worked out and performance will improve..always has always will...where as with 360 or PS3 you basically have to buy the sytem all over again once it gets redesigned and is more functional lol...true, it didn't happen to everyone that bought one..but I think the comparison is valid enough.

I could care less if you were in beta 4 or 1 as a matter of fact. My post directly deals with the noobs who think they are doing something in the current "Open PR BETA". Oh and I am sure they read the feedback on the old forums but that does not mean they listened to it.

I'm gonna have to agree that Vanguard kinda sucks. It has some good concepts and I can see alot of fun things about the game if it were a whole lot more polished and much less of a system hog.
The controls seem stiff. The interface just looks like a 1990s version of WoW's interface. The quest system is exactly like WoW... it kind of reminds me of SWG's "new and improved" quest system. I haven't played any of the diplomacy stuff. Swimming underwater is exactly like WoW only it looks like you're floating in mid air with a blue ceiling over your head.
I did however like the Monk Half Elf tutorial. It was engaging and I could see it paving the way for some role playing. Sadly, I don't think anyone will be RPing in this game as it seems to be designed with the raiding guild mentality, with the exception of a solid crafting system, player housing, and the diplomacy card game (which as I've said before I haven't played).
I really don't think it's fair or accurate at all for people to call this a next gen MMO... it's not in any shape form or fashion a next gen MMO. Everything in this game has been done before in another game, with the exception of the diplomacy game.

So what about - lore, caravans, raids, soloing, crafting, boats / sailing, flying, mounts, items (are there item sets?) etc
Sadly, I have to agree. After painfully waiting 14 hours to download my patch (with cable connection mind you), I was excited to jump in the game. But now my hope and dreams are just a memory. I hate to say it but this game just doesn't cut it.
I've played many MMORPGs in my day and this had the feel of maybe a Dark and Light. The game is unplayable unless you have a screaming puter and even then it's laggy. The graphics are just average and didn't give me the warm fuzzies usually associated with trying out a new game for the first time, in fact it was painful. The animations and combat are absolutely atrocious. Toons look like they're floating as they run past you. I'm just stunned at how bad this game is.
Now I hope that they have some kind of major fix coming out soon because without a major overhaul it's back to the drawing board for me. Sad, very sad. I had such high hopes for this game but I'd rather go back and play UO, DAOC, EQ, EQ2, WOW...almost anything but this game.
