All I remember - I was like 12 or 13 at the time - was just hating the entire Blood Alliegance. They constituted so much of the server population, I swore I would kill every single one of them on the spot.
Of course I was scared to sh*tless when I saw BLOOD HIMSELF outside a town - I think the river near Cragstone? I remember clicking on this guy sorrounded by people following him and I saw the name "Blood" and I blinked. Is that him? REALLY HIM!? I forget, but let me tell you I was practially shaking in my seat. I wasnt that far away from him and all the rumours about him were true - this guy walked with like 4 bodyguards with him AT ALL times following his every move. I remember that Blood was considered a Grief Mage or something of the sort and he wasnt actually that hard to beat, but just by the sheer fact that he had his own little personal army around him instilled so much fear.
Luckily they really didnt pay much attention to me and I was able to run away. Whew. That was close
Such good times, too bad I never really got all that high of a level to battle with the big boys. I was young back then.
And I do remember creating a newbie character that would jump from towers to get the Protection from the Life stone to pk others...priceless!!!! (referring to Eggburts)
EDIT: I went on Wikipedia and just for fun looked up Darktide. Heres a list of all the old school Guilds for your viewing pleasure:
JARBO - This guild was the most powerful guild on DT. They annihilated Blood with little effort and controlled the server until they quit to play The Sims Online. Gold Toof - This guild was a good source of DI's for the PK guilds back in the Anti-Pk wars. The Mercs - Early game dominance. Left the game 2 months into retail. (edit The Mercs actually left when sticky melee was implemented in March, during their 4 and a half month reign in final, they controlled every important leveling ground. No other guild in the history of Darktide held such complete control of the server. Even more impressive was their continued refusal to mass recruit. They regularly purged their monarchies to keep them small and elite) Blood - Dominated the server like no other monarchy for several years long. Vast number of members, huge propaganda machine. Life-long adversary against everyone on the server who wasn't Blood, except for maybe Patryn's group. Black Rose - A neutral guild (neither PK nor Anti) based in Kara, a secluded mountain town which exact location was unknown to many players in the first months of the game. It fought constantly against the Mercs while they were in game, then with Blood. Blood took over Kara, Black Rose reconquered it, then Blood took it over again months later. Circle of Arms - Anti guild that based out of Sawato, a swamp city that was a well known "safe" town. CED - One of the earliest Anti guilds Toe Foo - Another prominent guild during the early days. Known for being neutral and owning Plateau Village. Eternal Sovereignty, Tagged Bloodrush-The-Eternal. A medium sized Anti monarchy stationed up north in Mountain Retreat for over a year. ES focused on fighting blood in Metos and other hot spots. Led by Bloodrush-the-Eternal and Ryan-the-Eternal. Key members included Alitis Elpizo, Midnight', Evoke, Necron and others. They ruled Mountain Retreat until blood, forced from the D note lifestone by Samite/The Gimps, decided to call Mountain retreat home. Eggburt - One of the best guilds in Asherons Call, which included members that had a mandatory 5 hp. They would suicide by jumping off outposts or using the "/die" feature to prevent going NPK from player attacks. About 75% of all Eggburts had a deadly hollow of some kind, as they were level 30+ with 5 hp/10 endurance. A guild kick would be executed if they ever rose above that limit. The Eggburt Federation (as they called it) had a villa, and over 100 members. Popularity rose during '04 and rapidly increased over the course of the year, then decreased in '05, as the Eggburt Federation caused Turbine to change the way the /die mechanics were processed. The Ancient Order - Anti guild that formed as a merger of the remnants of COA, CED, Amn, PRX. Defended Dryreach and Sawato for a time and also ran daily raids on Blood in Kara. House of Sagacious - Helped shape Darktide's history. Also were very good merchants. The Feared - "Lead Clan" of the antis. Made up most of the muscle holding AB down against Blood. The Borg - A neutral guild who ran an army of bots that communicated with each other to engage in combat and generate wealth. Well known for their technology, including a massive online Kill On Sight (KOS) list that the bots used to select their targets collectively. Led by Cranius. NWA - Considered Anti. KoS, Knights of Samite. Controlled Lin for many months fighting against Bloods, JoV, Team CODE, GEN and various other guilds. They later moved to D note lifestone where they (along with The Gimps) forced Blood to move from the D note lifestone to mountain retreat. Samite later moved to the Tent LS just north of the D note ls in the direlands. Fists of Vengeance later merged in and took the active lead in the clan moving them to a northern forest lifestone north of holt. There they had many huge fights vs Dark Kimone and followers. They later merged with GEN and NWA to form TLS(Kama Sutra, later Khao) Vengeance, Inc. The Pluggers, guild leaders Plug and Skyblade. They ran one of the largest guilds under the monarchy of Fletchup. Sinister PRX, The Professionals (KV The Anti, later Ronan) - A prominent Anti Guild in early/mid retail OG - Ran by Og himself, a UA roleplaying character who killed for fish, owner of dungeons and guilds. Gen - First group made up of Anti's and PKs. Made a play for AB that failed because of Blood intervention. Tried doing something different on the server to change the political and social landscape (their intentions), wound up becoming a "Third" classification for a while, until the server settled back down into 2 major "Alpha" Clans. TLS, The Last Stand (more widely known as Khao) - Made up of many different groups of people including many old Gold Toofs. Khao vs Blood dominated the server for quite a while until Khao took over as the dominant guild in late 2003. TLS can be considered the most powerful guild on Darktide from 2004-present. Clan of the Hand Total Mad Ownage - One of the longest active guilds on Darktide, tagged Thunder Toyota. Peace Love and Lamps- Run by I Love Lamp and William Wallace' this clan was based in starter towns. The Noob Haters - A noob guild that terrorized Nanto East outpost for the last 4 months of its existence. SDM, South Dires Mafia - Small guild of lifelong solo/small group raidersfrom back in the good old days, this way they were free to kill almost anyone and jump in on any guild war on either (or neither) side, at any time! (also controlled the best secret lifestone, which you never knew about, on an isolated cliff with access to 3 portal routes and dires monsters all around) OAC, Order of the Aegis Crusaders - A small anti group of friends that resided in Stonehold.
Lolo gave me more trouble than anyone else....never could get a grip on beating him. Guy would rush in, own me and be gone before I was in portal space.
