Burning Crusades!

Well, I gave in to the evil email and signed up for the 10 day free trial of BC. I played out of beta but didn't buy the game at release - but later on, pre- gates expansion I played some. Played up to level cap on 3 different toons. Did some raiding, all within a couple of weeks... so, I wasn't a newb, just coming back.

I decided since the trial was for BC, I should play something IN BC rather than my old characters. So, I created a Draenei, Hunter (of course, is there any other class?). At first I thought this was really great. I hadn't played the class in my last go round, so that was something new, for me. The zones were new, the graphics are of course, great... made it up to level 20 in 3 days and thought I'd swap over to the other side...

A Blood Elf mage. Currently level 11. The mage class is something I'm familiar with, and there is nothing new here - only the race.

But then, I started looking at what I was doing, the quests, the Lore, the story...

Blood Elves are pissed off Night Elves. The undead have come in and just totally ravaged their home! So, they decided to be .... and set themselves up on their own and rebuild their racial power base - thus, they are Horde. But... aren't the Undead horde? Wouldn't they be enemies of the undead? Wouldn't that make them Alliance?

Draenei! Interdemensial space travellers that crashed into our world - killing untold thousands in this one event. There ship and it's pieces raining down on the world causing massive damage, disruption, mutations and evils... why aren't they Horde?

Ah! But then if we look closer at each race, not the lore, but the mechanics, what do we see?
Draenei are Tauren, only blue and with a new face - thus the Alliance gains the same large bulky model for a racial type.

The Blood Elves are Night Elves only orange, so, now, the Horde has hawt sexy models for their enjoyment.

Summation: if you like and enjoy World of Warcraft, your gonna love this expansion. If you are luke warm or hate the game, then there is nothing new, in this expansion, to suck you in /shrug

I enjoyed my 10 days, but I won't be paying for more
