Honestly, the game does look a lot like World of Warcraft.
I think based on the videos, it not only looks like WoW but has a WoW feel; this is my most serious concern besides too much of a central focus on PvP.

Sigh, I suppose this will be be something that we will have to repeat over and over and over until release.
And the repeat is over and over and over some more.
Warcraft was inspired by Warhammer. Warhammer has been around for twice as long. Now Warcraft has since evolved to become it's own distinct IP, as Kraiden has so nicely pointed out, but if you want to accuse one of mimicking the other - GET YOUR ORDER RIGHT.
And thank you Kraiden for posting the evidence that people seem to be completely ignoring. WAR and WOW are distinct IPs at this point, your monitor would have to turned off to think they're that similar.
Now the concern for the PvP-focus is more of a legitmate issue. WAR and Age of Conan are both PvP-centric, it will be interesting to see how they compare to a PvE-centric game like Tabula Rasa when it comes out.

Two seperate generations of gamers. People claim age dosent matter, I dont agree.
My generation waited in line for hours at the street fighter 2 machine just to get a shot at playing the top guy in hopes of knocking him off, if you lost? put another quater up because it was the thrill of the chase to get to be the main man on the machine and have everyone wanting to play YOU. This is why we loved UO and then DAoC after that. I try to explain to this new generation... ya we killed eachother all day everyday, i couldnt get enough. They just cant belive that pvp could ever not be boring (yet find farming rep and farming instances THRILLING) also tell people there is no "advancement" in the game by getting armor or items, and they cant bvelive that either. people honestly think you cant have a game that is not final fantasy7/WoW like and be successful. killing people and waging war on other nations is fun, and its especially fun for people who like to do stuff like that. WAR may not appeal to everyone, its a specialized niche group of gamers it will attract, and those who are into that mold will love it.... those who dont? wont.
Clearly we will see dancing happy orcks and there will be absolutly no blood gore and death in warhammer online. Everyone will look happy and have smiles on their faces, the colors will be bright and vivid and they will change to a more cartoonish look and shy away from their dark rugged look they have now. I think happyness and good times are part of the storyline of the warhammer universe.
Reporters that say it dosent feel like wow, are only saying so as part of an elaborate coverup by us evil media types to hide the truth from you all
I was just told by someone at warhammerconflict.com that loot from pvp will at least partly be from pvp quests. For example, you might be told to get 20 Greenskin Scalps . . . and the way you get those is by killing Greenskins via PVP. If this is the case, then this could be a very interesting part of the game!
strange peeps compair wow and war graphic, the graphic in wow are so sold and crap... war has much more texture... its alot better, maybe not the best graphic out there, but alot better than wow

HEHE, i seen long lines for DDR to challenge a bad boy.. thats today (of course if your no longer out there you would miss this).
The "new generations" lack of understanding pvp does not come from their age but their experiences (had you started playing games when they did you may feel that way now... infact they may feel this way when they are 30 .. , " the young want pvp they just don't understand what gaming was like...."). Therefore, your arguments is in reality not so much about age, but instead experience. And as i said before young people normally have less ... and mentality does changed but that is based off of experience and because WoW is their experience their mentality despite their age will more often favor raid item hunts.
Look at long EQ fans verses long DAOC fans both are older in age but their desire for games is often different. Still there are some who played both for long periods .... well the world is not black and white , or in this case old and young.
I really don't see anything in your argument that honestly addresses the issue of age. Other than a blank statement that people who where 18 in the 60s still today primiarly listen to the bettles... and this is simply not true ... they may more frequently ... but they keep up as well as the youth looks back.
Now i do know many people who are /where not gamers who where drawn to WoW becuase of its dumb play and widespread popularity. They are total fanboyz and its really sad some of the stuff i hear them say becuase they simiply do not know what other games have to offer... YET some are older and some are young its experienced based not aged based.

When I say "generations" though I list the games played. It is very true though, the people who come from EQ -> WoW-> WAR will have a seperate outlook on how a game should be than the people who came UO->DAoC->Conan->WAR
I AGREE COMPLETELY, I am a WoW player and have to say all I see in the game when I play is how the game creators try to make it addicting as possible while also making your character weak as possible to make you quest for extended periods of time so that they may keep the money shoveling in from their subscribers. I myself have a Shaman on WoW and every update they come out with I become weaker and weaker and they make my end game tier 5 gear greater and greater so that I will endlessly play their game to obtain this gear. The graphics in the game are horrible for what our machines are capable of today, and Im sure blizzard doesnt plan on upgrading this anytime soon, Blizzard seems tobe all about the money and very little about the gaming experience. I believe that it is about DAMB TIME A BETTER GAME COMES OUT THAT TOTALLY RAISES THE BAR ON MMORPG's. I cant wait to play this game, and for all those who are zombies to WoW, Im sorry for your loss.
Absolutely. Its funny how people can make such judgments about a game without even having played it. Unless you are somehow involved in the dev team for WAR then you and everyone else has no idea what it will be like. And just so everyone is clear, much of the Warcraft AND Starcraft was "borrowed" from Warhammer and Warhammer 40000. Its natural that there will be similarity between WoW and WAR.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

I am sorry, it looks like WoW and has a WoW feel, based on the screen shots and videos, to ME.

If people are looking at Age of Conan and thinking that it's going to be a PvP centric game, well they're in for a big surprise then. The game is mostly PvE, with only limited opportunities for PvP available in some instanced zones in the The Borderlands, and that is mostly all guild vs guild oriented. I guess maybe what with the info about the new style combat system they're trying (which you going to find will be mostly used against PvE mobs), and the fact that the game has Conan in the title, people are just assuming........

I must look into this game more.
I think both AoC and WAR are attractive. The reason I wrote-off AoC initially was because it looked too PvP and too Guild oriented for ME. I definitely plan to look into this game more.
As for now, I enjoy vanguard, believe it or not.
EDIT: Btw, what about solo opportunities in AoC? The Quest cooperative system in WAR in which there are server and zone-wide participation and all receive an aware sounds very cutting-edge to me. Will AoC have something similar?
Can you really capture cities in WAR? Or do they magicaly go back to the owners after you capture them??? Meaningless pvp.
To a degree, they will be returned to the faction that originally owned the town. But basically, you will be allowed to capture any town in the game. It will have a timer, so from what i've heard, you can only take a town for so long. So, after say 12hours, if they do not reclaim the town. They automatically get it back. But they do have the option of taking it back before that 12hour timer. Which means, once you take it, you can still lose it. So you have to defend it. You can destroy buildings in the town that won't reset for a certain time. If they take it back, you can recapture it. So it's not meaningless PVP. If you want meaningless PVP, than play WoW. Since, you get very little or nothing in PVP when playing WoW. Like you get rep for items that suck since, PVE items are better. Or you get rep that you will never use. You can't cap towns or anything like that.
So, the PVP is not meaningless.
For the toolbox that keeps say it has a WoW look and feel but can't say anything else. Listen here fuckface. I'm tired of your shit. You haven't played the game, so how do you know what you feel is true. How can you feel that the game is like WoW if you haven't even played it.
Secondly, the game does not look like WoW. There are MANY distinct differences. The graphics are WAY better. They aren't the same. There are so many things in WAR that are completely different than WoW.
Is WoW the only fucking game you've ever played. Honestly, do you know how many games Blizzard copied when making WoW. WoW is not original at all. It's a bunch of stolen ideas mixed in with shitty graphics with two cups of addiction. That's it, WoW has no original ideas.
Like seriously, WoW must be the only game you've played. Since it's the reason why you keep comparing everything too it. I've played WoW, for the first 9months that I played it I loved it. But soon realized, I loved the Idea of it. I found out, that the next 9months would be the same. Then the next 9 months after that would be the same. Join a guild, waste 5-6 hrs a night raiding. Get maybe 1epic every 1-2weeks. Get the best gear that's useless anyways. Since, you can only use it in PVE. Since I was never allowed to get DPS gear for PVP. Then, once I got the full set, a new dungeon comes out. All that the expansion does is give you the chance to spend a couple hours less in the dungeon each night. But it still seemed pointless after a while. It was just addicting.
Play other games, you will then realize how shitty WoW really is. Play some of the originals. Like EQ, DAoC, UO. Many would say WoW copied EQ etc. So please stop thinking WoW is the holy grail of MMO's. Just because 8mil people play it. Does not mean it's good. Especially since 6million of those people are noobs you would never want to play with in a real MMO. Since they're either retarded, 12yrs old or have a short attention span. They can't handle a game that requires basic understanding, thinking, skill or even knowledge. Wow is meant for anyone to play it. Which is exactly why there's so many playing it.
Also, if you want to play the, this company copied that company. Get your fucking facts straight you tool. WAR did not copy WoW. If WAR copied WOW. One of two things must be considered.
1) WAR would have to have the same gameplay as WoW. War has a completely different gameplay. Did I mention that the graphics are also completely different and way better in WAR. Yep I did...
2) WoW copied WAR, end of fuckin story. WAR has been around for 25years. WoW has been around for 3years. Warcraft games have been around for 10years. So if any company copied another. It's blizzard copying the GW IP. SO if there are ANY similarities that you find between the two games. Then guess what mister WoW lover, it's the game that you are currently playing that copied WAR
So in conclusion. You're futile attempts to insult a soon be released game are done. WoW and WAR are different. WAR has been around longer, so WoW copied WAR. Go thank blizzard for not being able to create something on there own.
WAR has a lot of ideas that have been taken from DAoC. Fortunately, it's the same company. So the only ideas that were stolen, if you want to put it that way, are there own ideas.
DAoC is like WAR. But WAR is not like WoW. If anything is should be like this..
WoW is like WAR. Since WoW copied... bunch of Copy cats.
WOOOT 7months, this game will melt faces. I can't wait for it too release. By the way, sorry for the cursing. It's the only way to get through to retards sometimes. Just like Paul says... " It's FUN ... you Fuckers!"
Ok, I am really looking forward to Warhammer. However, it seems as if there isnt going to be rare weapons and gear in WAR which I really liked in WoW. Now I wouldnt mind the absence in WAR if they pull of some reallly good fighting Mechanics, and i mean how hard is it to fight when u point and click... thats what is I find intriguing about AoC. So, overall i am hoping for some really good gear, or some really developed and new combat mechanics, so far i havent seen this in the vids... and yes I know it is pre-beta in all but it did look pretty bad. I guess i will just have to wait till open beta
Well, you do get trophies and other rewards as you get stronger and kill more players. Probably a trophy for killing like 2000, and then one for 6000, and then one for like 15000. Possibly one for capturing and holding a city for a certain time. Your character also adjusts in size as you get higher leveled. So you will get stronger and stronger. But honestly, there's no point in having extremely good weapons. I mean, if it's skill vs skill. You don't want to add to many items, since then it becomes items vs items. Like for instance...
If two people have a weapon that do 2 dmg, it will be the same as if they both had an item that did 40dmg. It only changes if one person has an item that does 2dmg and some1 has an item that does 40dmg.
So the only way I can see them adding items to the game, is if it had something to do with seniority in PVP.So, after you kill a certain amount of players. Perhaps there's like an Epic that requires a certain amount of trophies to be had. Or you need like, x amount of players dead, x amount of cities captured, x amount of this etc. Then it would be sorta like skill vs skill. Since you would need skill in order to actually get the item. Like, you would have to use your skill in order to kill the players in order to meet the requirements for said weapon.
But, I doubt there will be anything like WoW PVE. Where, you just raid a dungeon for epics. The skills and the way the characters are being made is being changed from most other games. From what I've heard, the game play will be auto aim etc. It won't be at all like what AoC is will be. But, there are still skill requirements. Like, priests can't just heal, they need to be in combat. The skills will be different. So it will take some thinking involved in order to choose the right skills, and every skill affects something in the game. Theres just a lot of neat aspects that I can't explain. The best way, is to just play the game when it comes out. Even if its just for a month.
But was i trying to explain was that if you have the same weapons and armor you have to have players skill to serperate you, and by that you will have to have far more superior combat mechanics then WoW. becuase it doesnt take much skill to auto shot
But was i trying to explain was that if you have the same weapons and armor you have to have players skill to serperate you, and by that you will have to have far more superior combat mechanics then WoW. becuase it doesnt take much skill to auto shot
Ya, I completely understand what you're saying. I have no idea how the fighting will actually take place. But from videos of people playing the beta. It seems as though the way you kill people is the same as in DAoC. Just auto aim and hit a few skills. We will have to wait until the game is released to know for sure. Or at least wait another 4-5months.
yes thats exaclty what i am trying to say, thanks Servase for actually reading what i was trying to say instead of saying" WoW suck n00B and WAR is gonne beez the be all end alll n000B"
yes thats exaclty what i am trying to say, thanks Servase for actually reading what i was trying to say instead of saying" WoW suck n00B and WAR is gonne beez the be all end alll n000B"
If that's how my first post came off, then i'm sorry. That's not how I intended it too lol. WoW could very well end up being better than WAR. In a different aspect, that being PVE. WAR hands down will be better in PVP. I'm not going to say that WAR will end all other games. I mean, sure it will be fun, from the screenshots anyway. But, that doesn't mean a better game won't come out. Or that, 8million people will still play WoW. I'm just saying that the fight between WoW and WAR is always misconstrued with untrue facts. At least get your case straight. Ya know, if you want to dis WAR. Get the facts straight, be like... WAR will suck for PVE. Well that's true lol.
I'm not saying that WoW sucks. It is a good game. Got boring really quickly for me(if 9months is quick :P). But it's still a good game and appeals to many. WAR will be an awesome game, not necessarily better than WoW. More like different than WoW. AoC will be different as well. Until a game with PVE and PVP is released. It's hard to say whether there will ever be a true WoW killer. But WAR appeals to me, in that I love the whole aspect of PVP.
Anywho, from what the devs have been saying. It will just be auto aim fighting. So, to quench my interests in the art of digital fighting. I think I might play AoC until WAR is released. Perhaps play both at the same time. But I don't know yet :P

So it will take some thinking involved in order to choose the right skills, and every skill affects something in the game. Theres just a lot of neat aspects that I can't explain. The best way, is to just play the game when it comes out. Even if its just for a month.
