I was cleaning up my bookmarks file and amongst many links to the SWG forums that don't work anymore (how convenient!) I found priceless gems like this one:

Next Generation article

The combat changes to the game went live some months ago and as with most MMOG changes, there was much public outcry on the forums. But SOE didn't experience any drop off subscriber numbers. On the contrary, Galaxies continued to grow faster than any other title run by SOE.

ROFLMAO!!!!

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

Geez Smedley is just flat out LYING in that article.  NO subscription losses????  Are you kidding me????  The he says an expansion will be out 6 months from the time the NGE hits focusing on the GCW...  Whoops, fibbed about that one too eh Smed...

Then he says that the players are having more fun playing the NGE than ever before...  Lmao...  Talk about being out of touch with the reality of the industry...  How is it possible to be SO clueless in such a prominent position?

Over a year and a half later Smedley and your game still sucks, your playerbase is still small, you STILL haven't released an expansion, and you STILL have the worst reputation in the MMO world.  Guess what else, you STILL won't admit your subscription numbers...

Blizzard has no problem admitting theirs...

John Smedley "We're still rewarding people for their loyalty over the years."

Yeah I remember my reward around the time of the CU, my balls are still aching!

A change of this magnitude, where the underlying mechanics and class balances have been completely scrapped and redone, has never been undertaken on a live MMOG like this.

So how is the fan base reacting?

"It's mixed. It's very positive [feedback] from the people who are actually playing it. And we also have the expected push back from the people who haven't actually logged in to try it," says Smedley.
"Once people get in there, it's overwhelmingly positive. It's the "the sky is falling" crowd on the forums that's still going to take some converting. I understand that. These are big changes."

everythin' stated by Smedly in that article is 100% lie!

even more so apperant after almost 2 years....

That's precisely why I posted it.  When the NGE came, major outlets like the NY Times, CBS, etc were all bashing the NGE.  Suspiciosly enough, this was the only article with praises for it.  The irony is in the contrast between what they said then and what they say now about how it was a "mistake"!

We have to keep a prescence on this board and the net in general, so that the memory of what SOE did will never be forgotten. I just want say Bioware to release a pre-JTL SWG or a KOTOR online perhaps, SWG was the best MMO I've ever played and it was trashed for the sake of a phantom playerbase that never materialised.

I want to see "SWG" etched on Smedleys gravestone, with Julio's gravestone beside it with the characters "NGE" etched in!

If John Smedley told me that the sky was blue I'd not believe it until I went outside to check.

Smed is a pathological liar. Or ignorant, uninformed and incompetent. There is no third option.
