PvP has been un balanced before becuase they chose pve over pvp. You can;'t have perfect balance for both. Like with rogues in wow. GIve them some pve things they become way op in pvp. if they choose to go pvp centric then they can balance more towards pvp. and since its a lvl 40 cap they have even said they want you to play end game and not lose intrest in the boreing lvling.
The only game in the history of mankind that has had a perfect balance in perfecting the PvP/PvE aspect has been "Guild Wars" and they don't even classify themselves in the same Genre as a MMO (don't know why). They could put in a level 14 cap like DDO and it "still" could potentially be a boring ass game.
Don't count all your chicks before the eggs are hatched I always say, Eventhough I like Warhammer, I'm putting it in the same category as the rest of the "hack and slash" mmos until I get to test it out for myself. Also, you have to take in consideration how the developers will market this game to pull in "all" of it's customers 357k is still a small amount of the pie when it comes to numbers and even then you have to realize that the PvErs still outweigh the PvPers.
Do you think those numbers would be that wide if the game only catered to PvP crowd?
You also have to take into account that this game is catering to long-time fans of the Warhammer games. It is bringing people to the genre that maybe haven't tried it before, haven't had the experience of pve versus pvp. Its hard to say with an arbitrary number like 375,00 beta singup. Regardless of how many people have signed up, pve is a large majority of the playerbase of current mmo's and Warhammer is being sold as a pvp based game. That's the bottom line.
Yeah, let those numbers flop after launch and they will throw in so much PvE content it will make your head spend (that's the bottom line). I laughed pretty hard when the developers said that the tent content at the "WH" hosting was PvE content (room got very quiet). I know a bunch of people want the game to be 100% PvP centric but I'm telling you all, you will have a suprise when the game is done.
Frankly ,I love Warhammer and have many models that I have painted (mostly destruction) and to be honest is the only reason I'm here, (not because Mythic devs know how to make a game). I hope to God they don't make this game another EQ2 or WOW shit pvp game type, where you run around in a major area or city ganking lower levels and non twinked characters. I use to hate that shit, seeing people on a PvP server just standing around scared to attack because they figured they couldn't beat a twinked character (just sickening).
The day I see a group of Dwarves or High Elves running around in Har Ganeth or Clar Garond (they should be killed on site by guards or other people) is the day I make my first thread on how suck ass this game is (which hopefully will never..ever happen).
Any game that attempts to force me into PvP won't be getting my subscription fees, so regardless of how good it looks if that is the way Warhammer wants to play it then I won't be playing it.
Right, a pvp centric mmo will never work. What we need is another pve centric mmo with slow, boring, repetitive gameplay, a lack of any form of community, and massive, endless time sinks. Oh wait...we already have about 400 of those out right now. Maybe someone should make a pvp centric mmo...
How does the OP know that the majority of players don't like to pvp? Have you conducted a thorough research analysis over a broad cross-section of mmo players?
WAR is not a game catered to the masses, its focus is on a certain and very popular gameplay mechanic. As Paul Barnett describes in a metaphor, WoW is like the Beetles and WAR is Led Zeppelin.
2) WAR has MUCH more hype surrounding it that DAOC did
3) The MMO market is MUCH bigger than it was 5 years ago
4) Theres little to no competition in the pvp market right now
Not very hard to add those up. Plernty of us are tired of the same old grinding/questing pve crap and are ready tojump into any decent pvp centric mmo.
And as usual, people are forgetting one vital fact.
I think I said this before here, but I'll waste my breath again. This game is RvR, not PvP.
What that means is, instead of just running around ganking weaker characters for fun, the pvp will be centered around attacking other realms, and defending your own. And you won't even have to kill people to engage in RvR. Doing public quests and generally helping out will contribute to the cause just the same.
I wonder what the point of the OP is, when they already said several times that you can do PVE from start to endgame.... go rant about something else, and maybe do something original like a WoW vs WAR thread, maybe a cartoonish graphic topic rant or even a no forum bashing thread.... oh wait...
The heck if it won't. I have been waiting for a pvp mmo for a long time. Pve gets old and makes me leave games so I can go get bored on another games pve, etc. The end-game pvp keeps the player happy. But if its always pvp, for people that love pvp, your happy all the time.
First off the game is not 100% PvP in fact if you took the time to watch most of the videos, podcasts and read any of the forums there is quite a bit of PvE in the game. Also you obviously fail to grasp what an awesome concept it will be to sack an entire town of the opposing ememy faction and dance in the middle of town square.
Its also been posted and stated in interviews that after you kill your player enemy you can loot them and a chance to get an item "not player owned" is possible. Talk about out of the box PvP ideas that will add alot of flavor to an already crappy MMORPG flooded market with crap themes, and crap pvp.
There's not one poster in these forums who has any WAR Beta first hand experience that can post until the NDA is lifted. So keep trolling in these forums because your choice of mmo's suck or your a fanboy of a postponed mmo like AOC.
How about we all wait until more information, videos, and Beta journals are released before making a call about this game.

heheheheh.......people are getting sick of dungeons and raiding and pve why? cause they are time sinks, borefests, repetitivity incarnate, the devs have to work for like a year just to come up with the same content as last time painted a different color, pvp is good because people like it its fun unpredictable, random, exciting and for the devs, its efficient because with pvp-centric mmos devs wouldn't have to keep releasing new content, the players create the content themselves. and why does everyone in the entire world compare every single MMO to WoWs numbers? just because its popular, doesn't mean its good!
The following statement is true: I just told a lie

Thats why I have always liked PvP (in any form) more than PvE, because of its dynamic nature. You are a participant in the changing of events. PvP always feels viable. You do PvE and it's not much different than playing a console adventure game really, going from point A to B until the end (at least until the next expansion comes out which will also have an end). PvE and questing is limited and gets stagnant once you run through the process a couple times. Once through PvE, the next time around, you know the end game. PvP for me never feels to have an end.

The NDA issue, is simply not true, just look at some of the post here many people have been left with the games first two tiers ... at the conventiosn that seem to be occuring every 2 months ... there are numurious privatly taken vids, which have been posted. Even more than there are reviews or write-ups. Alot of peopel have played this game and they have not been under a NDA.

To the OP...Have you ever gotten the Led out?
-The End.
This arguement is really pretty simple.
1) DAOC had a good size population at its peak
2) WAR has MUCH more hype surrounding it that DAOC did
3) The MMO market is MUCH bigger than it was 5 years ago
4) Theres little to no competition in the pvp market right now

DAoC was huge and is still doing just fine. Its obviously does work, and looking at how many people are interested in WAR it will be just fine.
