I am sick of people saying, "omfg 10 more levels?!! now I have to raid and get new gear again! WoW screwed themselves, they will lose all their subs!!"
Simple as this
WoW + Burning Crusade = MORE SUBS
WoW + Burning Crusade + Wrath of the Lich King = MORE SUBS
Don't be stupid.

Well I can see why people are mad. WoW focuses ENTIRELY on end-game.. therefore it's stupid for them to make levels that you must grind in the first place. With their game developing style they should just make it one epic quest.
Ah but i think you fail to see the truth in their concern. Yes it may get them more subs for a time. But alot of it is the same thing rehashed. Why level? Is there really a point to the game after you get that piece of armor that you raided the same instance 40 times for? You see a lot of people (in my opinion and from what i can see) are sick of this rehashing. Sure its more content, but its the same content with a different color, you see?
I think what people are wanting is purpose behind leveling or pvping or even advancing for that matter. Something beyond just getting something better that someone. Maybe taking over someones capital or contested zone? More world pvp in the first part of the game. Stuff like that.
Well anyway, just my two cents. I don't even play that game anymore. Been there, done that.

They're just milking retards who think having good gear in a video game is confidence. Negatron to say the least.
I'm just going to do the same thing I did with BC. Have FUN getting to the level cap. Raid for a couple of weeks. And QUIT. Then start the process all over again with the next expansion.
As mentioned earlier, the loot you get in raids is to help you progress ... in more raiding ... hello ... where is my Lineage 2 style sieging my armor / weapon should be put in use for? ... oh that's right it there isn't any ...
but i''ll give credit where credit is due .. the first two months after the initial release was a very very fun time for me ... I would imagine the new expo would provide the same ...
It's a generalize problem that almost all MMOs suffer from. A new expansion comes out that renders all your previous gears obsolete, you grind/raid back to where you were previosuly, quit, wait for the next expansion. Personally, I don't have a solution to the problem in my mind either
Nicely generalized. There's a lot of morons out there, and I wouldn't describe the majority of raiders as morons.
Expansions do cause a subscription bump for a short while... but the numbers being released are mostly from Asia which is a much larger market just not as profitable.
Also don't forget WoW has had no real competition for over 2 years I am waiting to see what AoC, WAR, and a few smaller MMOs do to that subscriber base. The biggest comment I hear on these boards is "well (insert event here), that sucks... guess I will go back and play WoW until something better comes along".
This is not to knock WoW... while I did not personally like BC... the game has always been solid. It's age will start to catch up in the next year or so though.

I would.
The World of Warcraft raiders anyway since it's so mindnumbing and your raid gear gets outdated with each expansion.
I have only contempt for raiders.
Just my two copper pieces.
I wouldn't even call what you do in World of Warcraft "raiding" more like "dungeon crawling" or doing boring work without pay in an online game.

Yes, the only reason why I have an active sub is that there's nothing that I like more out there right now. WoW is not perfect but it is polished and has a lot to offer.

Bah, that's all about attitude, if you're raiding with a bunch of people you enjoy playing with it is still fun.Why contempt? I sense past rejection/disappointment. Really, why hate the people who do something you don't like doing? That doesn't make sense. I find non-raiders in general to be less knowledgeable about the game and more obtuse in their decision making, does that make them morons? No, they just don't want to put in the same amount of time and effort as raiders.

You quoted me too soon, I have added some things.
Totaly agree with last coment. Since there is nothing really better ill stick to WoW. You can maybe find better PvP games or better PvE games but WoW gives all. Maybe it isnt what some of whiners expected...who cares...9mil ppl dont.
And about that coment how all raiders are morons...i guess you really couldnt fit in any raiding guild what i can describe only with lack of your social skills or your playing skills...or bouth...raiding in WoW is not only chasing epix drop...its beating game and what blizz throw at you...
At end its normal that WoW wont make everyone happy, majorty will be hapy, few others wont...who cares...i still dont see any other game that is close to WoW.

I still don't get all the hate. I don't know which realm you play on, but on EU Magtheridon there are some very sensible raiders.
I meet few people who were playing wow and now they "hate" it...they were:
- burning too much time in it...playing 16 hrs a day
- playing alone or in pugs, no online or RL frineds to play with...mmorpg is not game for them...wow is not game for them
- no skill, find game too hard, too much grinding, to big areas, to time consuming and all other really stupid reasons. I call them stupid because player who want to play mmorpg should be ready to do all those things...untill we see something new.
I find raiding fun...we needed about 1 month of daily wiping on Cthun to get him down finaly...that was excitement, nothing droped for me but feeling was great. Same with all other encounters.
Raiding BWL about once a week (we could clear it in 2-3hrs) was not only to get l00t cause we allready had about 99% of it but it was about jokes over teamspeak or chat...running and pulling whole instance what made us wipe and laugh...

Damn, I knew I should put more points in my solcial skills, not all of them in my ego skill.
So damn true. It's world of warcraft. A world of warcraft expansion will make millions and millions regardless that a small minority of angry, jaded players think. I was tired of WoW a long time ago but its an incredibly successful game. Even I hate the crappy BC expansion and its mind numbing and crappy faction grinds, but obviously millions of players bought it and play it and will buy the next one and it continues to make every other MMO sub base look like a joke. Blizzard could make Wrath of the Lich King worse then Burning Crusade and still rake in more cash then any other MMORPG cause no other company is good enough to rival it.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.

I came to my senses and doesn't pay the monthly fee anymore.
IMO WOW needs sorta the same enviroment like EVE, b4 u flame I DONT want to start the whole eve vs wow debate.
I mean that players actually influence the gaming world, Guilds can claim cities, areas and KEEP THEM and if someone wants that area back they must remove all the player owned structures holding that area. Also placing strategic resources that can be faught over and HELD and it isnt reset or changed by GMs later on.
Cos from what I hear a player has absolutly no influence at all on the world, or am I wrong there? For me this is the most important factor in playing an online game, my ability to influence the player world, if my actions have no influence at all on the world I wont bother playing that game.
If blizz implement that in WoW i would be very happy...

Well I bought BC but managed to get to 63 before I quit. I will not buy the new expansion. I belive the new expansion may hold on to those the subs, but I am not seeing a great burst of new subs.
I still remember the dissappintment of a raider friend when he had to switch out his t3 purple boots agains a 63 level green mob drop.
He isn't playing wow anymore either...

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.

I totally agree people who say "omfg 10 more levels?!! now I have to raid and get new gear again!" really are not thinking - WoW is a race, class, gear, and level based game. That naturally means new content will inevitably be adding more races, levels, sooner or later, and eventually new classes (leading to "what, I have to grind again?!!" rants), and ultimately more gear from some new feature or raids content (leading to "what, I have to raid all over again?!!" rants).
Quite simply, if you want to avoid that then you need a skill based game rather than a level-based game. Unfortunately those are very much out of vogue just at the moment for high-fantasy settings, although there is still hope out there.
But if you sign up to play a level based game, guess what sooner or later that top cap goes up and if you want to be "leet" you have to buy the box and grind it out. But by level 60, or 70, or even to 100, you really should know how to grind - it's not rocket science, and if you actually talked to people on the way then you may well have a solid group of friends with a new challenge ahead to explore and conquer, in which case it's not a grind any more, it's fun.
Personaly I want to see the level 100 epic dragon mount, with the "WHAT??" price tag . But people will still want them, just like everything else that's outrageously priced. Personally I fera the twinky level 19 / 29 combat getting even sillier - a level 80 character will be able to buy pretty much compete twinky toys, because the NPCs will almost inevitably drop more coin.
To play an mmo is to grind nuff said.
Yet another Bash WoW post...
Save a few posters its the same people making the same negative comments.
Would appear you have a real 'personal problem' with WoW.
It yuou don't like the game, FINE, but why continue to vent your negative perspective?
Do you get some kind of satisfaction being so negative?
I find it interesting and hilarias actually to see a post like this appear time after time after time after................
Have fun with what ever it is YOU like and relive yourself from the bitter decaying WoW Bashing.
Your choice, your life...if you have one...
Produde it seems a little ironic that given you feel this thread is a waste of time you still posted in here.
Personally I feel threads like these are valuable - they give a straw poll about strength of player feelings on various topics. This is a website about MMORPGs, not just WoW, and given that game designers want to make something that does not annoy their players, then an indication of feeling from other games, especially if you want to emulate that game's base design model, can provide useful insights.
The issue with WoW that is obvious from this and threads like it is that by targetting a young market and taking a very "cards-close-to-the -chest" approach, young customers buying the game may be mistaken in thinking that level 60, or 70, or 80 etc was "the end-game". It won't be, 100 seems likely to be the endgame for WoW, but even that may change. As such a percentage of your customer base may always feel you have just invalidated their really hard work accumulating level x raid gear, which could be countered by a more clarity around what the future holds. But that would be at a cost too, so overall the whiners can just whine a little why everyone else goes and kills things.
