Yao folks!
I've been following the progress for Warhammer online since mid 2006 and now it really starts to get close to release date. At first my hype was at top, but as the months kept passing by and very little was made (progress wise, you'll understand soon) to the graphics. Now, September 22th, a year and few months after I knew it was coming, it still looks like it was made by a bunch of blind guys with no sence of beauty. Graphics's not everything, I know that but seriously, have any of you ever watched ANY of the movies they have released? I can't honestly think of a game that has THAT many edges in it (including Super Mario on SNES back in the -90).
In my small mind I though when I was looking at the pre-alpha fotage that 'OK, this is just a rough drawing of good things to come'. Today, I watched the "before-after movie" they've got on their website. Oh my god, please don't tell me they've completed this game just adding lights. Sure, it looks better but it doesen't take away the fact that it's pure buttugly beneith all that swagger.
Graphics's not everything but let's compare it to something. Like for instance a car. If you gonna pay for a car, would you go for the buttugly one with 15 radio channels or the honkey donkey awesome looking with 13 radio channels? This is insane, hmm, I need a better comparison. Anyhow, I wanna hear your thoughts on this and if someone feels the same way. I personally woulden't say that it's to early to be talking about this coz' it's like less than 2 months before release, can they really change the hole outlook of the game in that time? I prey for a miracle or my 5 cents goes to AoC

As you said, graphics are NOT everything, so why do you plan on jumping ship to AoC if your largest interest is in the gameplay mechanics? The graphics look fine to me, in some movies the graphics look amazing, in others not so amazing...in the movies from the game expos, expect those to be the ones in the game-not the ones of poor grainy quality.

So you are comparing a before and after of only lighting not the actual graphics engine and saying the game hasnt gotten any better graphically?Makes no sense man its to show of lighting not the graphics engine.Now when they come out with a actual finish product and it doesn't look better then you can complain but for now stop judging a game in early beta especially off graphics alone.
If you actually believe the graphics are that important (vs gameplay) you probably aren't the right sort of player for WAR....... better go with another game.

it's said Q1 2008 for a long ass time now. If you think it looks like shit and don't plan on playing, why the fuck do you care? I don't understand some people.
If this isn't flaming I don't know what is?! The graphics are amazing in WAR, not like I'm a big graphic guy, but they are amazing.
I think the game looks great. I am not sure if I would describe it as beautiful. It is beautiful in parts and gritty and ugly in other parts.
Anyway I really like the style.
I think this may be a matter of taste, could you let us know what you do consider beautiful and what exactly makes the warhammer graphics not up to scratch.
Other people have said similar things, but they usually point to an exact problem.
For this to be helpful feedback to the devs you would need to be a bit more specific than " I just don't like it".

I think it may be too early to slam its graphics, and like you said graphics aren't everything. In the long run its the overall game that matters, concepts, options, interface, etc. Its release is not even till next year, a lot will change between now and then during the polish phase. Expecting perfection at release may be deemed short sighted as well, since most mmorpg's currently being released seem like they weren't even close to being ready to leave BETA. I'd simply be moderately impressed to see a mmorpg that upon release doesn't have you glitch in movement, ie. running up a trail several times or freezing or swimming on land.

Yeah, I was unsure whether that was a compliment or an insult, but it was rather funny. Almost sounds like a racial slur against Caucasians.
My point is that the vids they upload on their oficial website are buttugly. Wich in my opinions seems like a bad publicity stunt. When for a fact you can find some good looking vids on ie. youtube. Honkey donkey means cool, it's not a insult lol. I think?
But as it turnes out it's about 50/50 of the vids showing really nice stuff and half ugly as hell. But as someone said in a earlier post "i've been playing the game and it's far better than any youtube vid shows".

OP you have NO understanding of how a game is created obviously, if when you look at each video you think 'how can then release this, it looks crap' then you must be a friggin dumbass tbh, judge it when the game is released, WHEN ITS RELEASED.. also the lighting looks amazing, as we all know the lighting is only half done, and also we know that most videos shown are about 4 months old when released.
Imagine if you were an artist, your there drawing a painting, half way through only half the page has been sketched, and no colour added.... I then walk upto you and say 'you expect that picture to be hung in an art gallery? you suck at painting' you would think im a twat, well thats what I think of you tbh

In the current screen shots nad movies that I have seen of the game, it rates as high or higher among graphics as most new MMOs.
It looks better currently than Guildwars which we all can agree is a awesome looking game.
I currently see no reason to fret about the state of how the game will look.

i was trying to make you realize it without having to tell you... the simple fact that you interpretaded my comment as complaining about fanboys proves you are one, because i wasn't complaining about the fanboys, i am complaining about the over-hype (i even gave halo 3 as comparison) because the game isn't out yet and for all you it's already the best mmo out there, people can't say "hey that looks crap" or else that guy is going to be sodomize... -_-
i saw pre-alphas of halo 3 and the actual game graphics and they hardly improve... even if the war videos are all pre-alpha are they going to add reflection/refraction shaders? maybe some normal maps? shadows and light in buildings or others objects aside of characters and torchs (or is night all day?)?
i'm not saying that to look good it has to have all these stuff (FFXII is good example) but the textures, the "atmosphere" the vegetation, the buildings, etc, when they aren't poor they are repetitive, every single character looks like a barbarian... i can't even tell when is night or day, it all looks the same

THIS IS NOT HALO 3, and then still, go check the reviews of it, they all give a good score. Thats the same as saying 'Gothic 3 is/was terribly buggy hence Need for speed Carbon is/was buggy to'. They are not related!
And second, this is an MMO. If Wow has proven one thing is that you don't need super mega ultra graphics to make a good game that sells well. Have fun playing an MMO at 2-3 fps with your reflections and light in buildings. Yes graphics should improve, but what you are saying is not possible if you want a subscribers number higher than 10000.
And my last point (which proofs you are just trolling/flaming)

Now with World of Warcraft released we know that it's not a great game. It's a good game when your about lvl 40 but def not a great one once you hit 70. So by all means, the game's not good. If you compare Wow's candy graphics to this then your kinda off track aswell mate. What EA lack is animation skills, and inovation to make a game look different. They have, to this point only failed in doing a great looking game.
If we gonna look at a game with insanely nice graphics, we got Eve online for instance. They don't have the 9mil subscribers but then again, your playing on 1 server instead of 70 half full servers. I personally would rather play a game with less subscribers due to the fact that less retards find their way into the game.
At this point, im deepely disapointed in what they have acheived but they still have another 150 days or so to fix it. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it, I don't deal with flamers so get out of my thread if anyone wanna flame instead of discussing. It's a discussion thread, not a flamefest!

First, i'm not comparing it to Wow. I used Wow as an example of a succesfull game without top of the art graphics.

You are deeply dissapointed in what they have achieved? Maybe you should put your standards a little lower? You do know they only started to work on Warhammer Online since May 2005 right? They went from 0 to what we have now in less than 2.5 years.
