Help with class selection

The only class selection guide I can find about EQ II is from 2004. I know in MMO, 3 years is a lot of time for changes.

I'm really bored with WoW right now. I'm in a hardcore raiding guild have been since Day 1 of WoW. Needless to say, I'm burnt out with WoW. EQ II is probably the same game with different skin, but I'm hungry for a change.

Is there a detailed class description, its pros and cons, its realistic roles in the game and the popularity of the class?

For example even though Warriors in WoW are supposed to be tanks, they can dish out great damage in pve and pvp.

Paladins are considered hybrid yet if you are not a healer pally, most likely you wont get into groups/raids. The ret/prot pallies you see around geared did not start out that way. They started holy, gained guild support, then switched spec.

Rogues, while a nice class, are hurting because of overpopulation. New players never knew this =(

So before I start playing, I would like to know as much as possible about every class.. with your help
