Hated and loved some things about it. A lack of choice between WASD And point and click was really the clincher. My wrists can't do all they use to do and not having that option, just blew it for me among other things. Along with instanced PVP etc. I don't know. It's really not a super bad game, just not for me. Others will enjoy it and I really hope others will at least try it and make their own judgement.

PS. Flame, gut me etc if you want.Say I did not give it enough time, so be it. Not for me,

I would recommend making a suggestion on how they should implement a 'point and click' interface on the official forums.  FLS has proven one thing over and over in the beta.  If you make a suggestion and it makes sense and enhances the game without breaking any core mechanics they usually implement it.

LOTS of features within the game now didn't exist before and came directly from beta tester input.  And you are not the first to complain about the movement control...  I'm not a huge fan of steering a ship using WASD either :)

You don't have to move with WASD. If you are lazy (like myself), you can easily move via the sliders in the SHIP UI. You dont have to touch a keyboard.

Erm, the entire interface can be mouse driven, everything from moving your character, moving your ship, adjusting your speed, firing your guns etc. Unless I misunderstood something...

I must have totally missed something.. I went through the controls, interface etc and could not get a happy medium.

I know you could use the mouse for some tasks, as in setting sail, some combat etc.

I may reinstall and see if I missed something.

    Thanks

You need the keyboard for avatar combat but not for naval combat. You could probably make the game 80-85% mouse driven if desired.

Pssst...Holding in both mouse buttons at the same time will make you move forward.

Wasn't going to reply to such an idiotic response. Making a statement like that with no info on my personal background.

Just so you know, I have severe arthritis in my back, knees, elbows, wrist, knuckles, fingers etc. It's really bad when you get old and pay for your lifestyle when you was younger.

Hope life treats you well and you don't end up in severe pain 24/7 for the last 7 years like myself.

next time post your "personal background" so it doesn't sound so funny. gaming forums..

you can also click on the outside of the compass, the gold area, to move your ship in desired direction.. as well as the sliders...

and you can also move your avatar in combat and out with just the mouse, with a combination of clicks, holds and movements

It is totally possible to play the game with only the mouse (except for the typing into he chat window) and it is also possible to play with pretty much just the keyboard too..

a combination of both is my favourite though..

Also, on a side note. I find this game is a growing game, as in the more you play it the more it grows on you. it is not a 'smack you in the face' right off the bat type of game...

When I first started in the closed beta, i thought it was a bit.. meh.. But as I played it more i got more and more excited about it and enjoyed myself more and more..

I just hope people give it a good few days run before passing to quick of a judgement on it. it is not your typical MMO, it does seem to cater for a certain type of gamer, and I feel it does need a few days of play and research before you really know if it is the game for you or not..
