If Bioware is really making a Star Wars mmo, what would you like to see in it?
I would like to see a nice bounty hunting system, where players could put bounties on people for no reason if they pay enough credits. It would be niceif they included alot of customization; your character, ship, vehicle, and armor's appearance to your skills. I also would like to see player cities, housing, and many items.

I never had the opertunity to play SWG so i would love to see a new SW mmo. If anything something close to what everyone raves SWG was like when it first came out. I've read quite a bit about it and most clam it was the best thing since sliced bread...sooo let's have something like that. but better
SWG before SOE messed with it.
The good old SWG was a amazing MMO. And if that was just a little playground for a new MMO idea.....maybe we will get a even better one this time.
I want all from the old, skill system, city building, a great character creation and a player based world.

I want to be able to play as Lewk Skyrunner, and do quests and missions that tells the story of how I destroyed the deathstar, how I was trained by Yoda, how I freed Solo, how I was told by Darth Vader that he's my father, how I defeated the Emperor.
Gimme a SW MMO like that, and I promise that I'll play through the storyline and maybe do some raiding for a few months before I go find the next big storyline MMO

I think that in a new SW MMO I would like to see a sandbox centered game with a player run economy and government which I know is hard to do. I think that they should make good use of "The Force" in their game which could be a dynamic aspect of PvP. I think they should also have a Jedi Academy which would be a good place to start a similar "Tutorial Island" like on Runescape. I also think that they should keep the highly customizable items system that was in Star Wars Return of the Jedi and I think that people should have to do really hard quests to gain special crystals to place in their lightsabers.

Is it even possible to make a SW MMO with out comparisons to SWG at what ever stage. It might be best to just let it go and develop their own IP.

Oh yeah, all the other stuff you mentioned, I want that in any MMORPG. But if it has to be Star Wars, I would want Ligthsabers, cuz really... That's the only thing that makes it a Star Wars game, except for the names and looks of the NPC/Planets/Areas.

Since there is a whole lot of not caring in your post, I guess you won't care if I am a little put off by your thread. This HAS been discussed a hundred times already and what you are asking for is already in SWG, with the exception of skills.
I personally would want the MMO to have a good story, that Bioware is famous for with a reason to interact online. That reason can be a combined need to interact with traders (material goods and information brokers) and a built in conflict (Sith vs Jedi w/ both sides having an army [Sith army & Republic Army] ). I would also want a deep class system. Yes I said class, because classes work for Star Wars. They worked really well in KoToR without ever feeling restrictive. That is the beauty of the modified 3.0 rule set.
I can careless about player cities and all that jazz, because players is what ruins a game. It is the players who choose not to stay within the lore. If you allow people to do something great, like create their own cities, you will have cities with names that are inappropriate for the game and city loyalties or "make-up" that is inappropriate for the time-line. Instead, Jedi can bind at the many enclaves around the galaxy and can have a room assigned to them, Sith can have something similar, traders can buy an apartment or suite or even stay in a hotel, all the variations of soldiers can stay in a barracks, pilots can have barracks as well, and mercenaries and bounty hunters can buy an apartment as well. What I am saying is that every class should have an appropriate place to live that is within the limits of the lore.
Cities should look like they should. Coruscant should be a megatropolis that it is with airspeeders and the works for example. There should also be space stations, fleets of starships to include capital ships that are boardable. There is no point in creating a game of an IP unless you do it right. So basically, if the galaxy isn't recognizable to people who have read the books and watched the movies, then the galaxy isn't created the way it should be. Same with classes, Jedi should be forced to behave like Jedi and use Jedi weapons and powers or be expelled from the order (lightsabers taken etc.).

Time line: The Empire and the New Order, or Birth of the New Republic
Keep it similar to SWG old school
You have to have PvP and environments were if I’m being shot I can duck and cover be hide something or someone.
Start small, and then grow with expansion pack every 6-8 months, to keep thing fresh and new with the communities.
Start with 2-3 planets from Deep Core or Core Worlds
Start with 4 races
Start with some Space Ships
Ships upgrades and modifications color
Be able to build cities or bases that we would have to defend with AI or players.
Cantinas with Mini-Games
Chess
Gambling
Pod racing
Etc.
More Weapons upgrade
Example;
A communicator so we can talk (voice not type) to one another could be upgraded with different:
Reception Antenna
Voice Pickup
Encoding Selector
Sound Projectors
FREQUENCY Search Control
Locator
Maybe an officer could have an AI member on his team, Commander could have 2 AI members and a General could have a squad of 4 (I’m not saying you should be able to be a general in the first edition of the game)
