Question about PvP on the PvE server

I've read that the developers are going to lengths to seperate the two *end-game* aspects.



From what i've read the items / rewards from PvE raiding will have little impact on the PvP game and Visa-Versa.



Just wondering if anyone can quantify this abit for me.



I played DAoC awhile back and really enjoyed the game until RR's (realm Ranks) became a focus of not just the PvP game but the PvE game. (I ran Specific PvP and PvE toons)

What I mean by this is that the RR rewards (rewards gained from the PvP game) had a massive impact on the PvE game. A warrior without the Shield Blocking abilitys was gimp .. Healers without Fonts were gimp. This was compounded with the ToA expac (Trails of Atlantis) when Artifacts had such a huge impact.



The net effect was that PvP'rs had to play a PvE game to get thier Artifacts / Master levels or be weaker in the PvP game .. and PvE'rs had to play the PvP game in order to get realm ranks and compeate in the PvE game. An annoying turn of events.



Are FC going to run AoC this way with the overlap? or are the two aspects of end-game really going to be kept in seperate realms? I would love to either run a combination of PvP / PvE toons .. or if i like one enough would have no problems building 2 sets of gear / rewards for each aspect of the game ... i dont like being *forced* to PvP on a PvE toon or PvE on a PvP toon .. just to remain competitive in that field !!



Remember .. I'm asking specifially about the PvE server. Thanks for your imput!

    Great questions as I am also wondering about the PvE server experience. Watching this for answers/info.

    Gear wise, separation looks to be and has been stated to be their goal. Nothing is ever 100% (i.e., I'm not going to sit here and say EVERY piece of PvE gear will ONLY be favorable to EVERY player who looks at it as ONLY ever used for PvE). But, as has been stated time and again they plan on having PvE gear (through PvE questing and raids) and also PvP gear (Primarliy from player crafting so that gems can be slotted).

    Now, it has been also said that a player who has levels 60/20 (PvE/PvP) fighting someone who is 80/20 with each player having equal PvP gear and "skill" will be a slight disadvantage for simple reasons such as having more hit points and or more attribute increases. In that way PvE does affect PvP, but considering Athelan and others have stated it takes around 240 hours/10 days to max level (PvE level 80), I don't see a big issue here.
