Hardcore/Elite member forum

Yes...you heard right. Is it possible for there to be a high rankings forum, where we can discuss things without having to worry about some of the crap that comes up from low level posters? It's nearly impossible to have a discussion in the Pub without a topic being buried by mindless stuff, half of it not even pertaining to the right forum. Off-topic itself has been over run as well, for some reason also being discovered by low usage posters.

I don't mean this in offense to anyone, it's just that to some of us this sight means quite a bit, and to others it doesn't, and the posting shows. Somewhere for us to post without that kind of stuff would be great.

Yeah, That sound like a good idea. I know it would be un-fair to people who want to talk seriouse but arent high enough but its a good place to chat for people who obviously love this site. I mean i just got Elite and im excited

Might be a hard thing to do since one's ranking can fluctuate day to day.

Perhaps special forums for people who make donations to the site, maybe like a TotalFark for MMORPG.com. And possibly add other benefits such as more chances to win prizes in contests and such.

Just a thought...

no i actually think its a great idea.

it encourage people to higher up there rank and keep it that way.
and a elite member is something you are not getting that fast.

so the forum will only be for people that visit the site every day and talk only serious.

Would be a great idea, though possibly once a member always a member, because i know when i went away for a month it has taken me ages to get my rating back up to 5 stars, even with some HUGE posts

Not a bad idea Alistair, but with a few provisos. Everyone should be allowed access to the forum in a read-only format. There are a great many long time members that do not post very often, rather they visit the site and scan the forums daily. Perhaps a hard core / elite members forum in which you must be hard core or elite to post in it. Also, there is a danger of a controlled preferred members forum becoming the only forum those hard core members bother posting too / visiting period. I spend about an hour a day on this site, scanning the latest info, reading the comics (probably my favorite part), and linking to some of the game sites. On occasion I'll throw my 2 cents in the mix. I like the idea, but how would it effect the rest of the site?

well, about HC/ Elite members not posting on other forums... I belive that there will still be alot of posting on all the other forums, because alot of the posts started are from people who arent HC or Elite. And people will scan the forums as usuall posting comments. The Elite / HC boards would just add a closer lvl of chatting between a fewer amount of people. I would love if this was done because than i could talk with a familiar group of people and its easier to build a group of people who share ideas in common with yours and are just as dedicated to this site.

I meant that, in a sense...the forum would be for HC/Elite members to post in, but would be an open read forum for everyone. While I understand that most people don't spend a lot of time at the site, how much time do you spend scrolling through the unavoidable "I NEED A FREE GOOD MMORPG" or "EQ2 VS WOW" or
"SOANDSO GAME SUCKS, DON'T PLAY" posts that you won't bother reading, just to get to the few posts that you will? More often than not those posts are ignored, but even with one or two responses they end up burying other posts that fall off page one before most people see them. Also, the Off-Topic crowd will always visit and post there...it's in their blood, so to speak. I was just suggesting it as a way to streamiline the site for the dedicated members, and while it is a possibility, I doubt the creation of a forum like that would steal away all of the HC/Elite members.

I belive this idea was raised before a little while ago, and Admin had said he liked the idea.

I kidna like the idea of other people being able to read it, you may notice that a lot of the great debates are monstly among the hardcore + members.

But high rating forum is kinda ok... to bad some of the ppl here have pretty good things to say even though they dont post all that much.

If there are people who constantly give good thought filled arguments they could get flagged and are able to post in there.

I just really want to have a forum with discussions that you dont have to wade throught the

These type of posts dont really get peoples ratings up that much though, so i dont think we would get that many more, though we would probably get larger posts where instead of saying EQ2>WOW they would say EQ2>WOW, DnL, GW etc.

But since we would always have the hardcore forum (lol great name) then we wouldnt have to read these anyway.

Personally i browse these forums for sometimes 6 or 7 hours a day when at work (yes i love my job) and i would still post in the normal forum as well as the hardcore forum. plus it would give the noobs something to AIM for.

And while we're at it, how about a revocation of posting privledges for Nooblet/Bobjones1303, and their 5 odd EQ2 flamefests in the Pub. They've slipped to just creating spam threads for no reason.

I actually noticed that from when nooblet first started Posting, Same with bobjones. A lot of thier posts are spam and they seem to start the same topics over and over again.

As in, here at the site? or elsewhere? Because, y aknow, it'd sort of be a waste putting it elsewhere, and I can't exactly just create my own forum here at the site. Not only that, but it'd be much more difficult for me to monitor who posts there because user ratings are constantly changing, where as Admin already has that built into the site and would just have to integrate the current system...see where I'm going with this?

That, and I don't know how many people would go to a "MMORPG.com HC/Elite Forum" when it's not directly involved with MMORPG.com...

Ok, bringing this thread back to the top. After perusing the boards for the last month, I have to admit that I am becoming disenchanted with the quality of posts. It seems like every day there is another post about WoW vs. EQ, Free MMORPG threads, Favorite this or that, blah blah blah. It is becoming more of a chore to dig through the junk to find quality threads. This is causing me to visit MMORPG less and less. I originally signed up for this site because of all the great informational posts I found in almost every forum. Sadly, this is no longer the case. I'm losing interest Administrators. Please do something.

Which is why staff have started cracking down on "trolls" "trash talkers" and subjects concerning WoW & EQ2 especially. If there's something i have missed on the forums, contact me and let me know where it is and what it concerns. Thousands of people post each day here, im sure to miss one somewhere along the way.

I don't post much anymore myself atm because it seems to be the same posts over and over again. Most newcomer's I dont think read past the first page or 2 of threads in each section before they start posting stuff that has already been gone over again and again and again.

Malkavian, I was very happy to see you locking alot of the WoW vs. EQ II threads and similar. The staff is doing a great job in my opinion and I am glad you folks are watching over things.
