Warhammer Online: Famous NPC's and Their Stories

The April Newsletter for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning showed us a few new pieces of unique concept art which included Order and Destruction NPC's. Sure, they have names, but who are they in the Warhammer universe? What is their role in the grand scheme and what should you know about them? Why do the research when we've done it for you already?

New Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Concept Art:

Gortek and Felix

According to Games Workshop:

Gotrek Gurnisson is certainly the most, or the least, successful Slayer in this age of the world. His quest to find death at the hands of a worthy opponent has yet to be fulfilled, but in his search he has slain monsters, Skaven, Orcs, Beastmen and Goblins beyond count. His adventures have taken him from the Old World across the Western Sea to the lost continent of Lustria. No one knows why he shaved his head and took the Slayer's Oath and few have ever had the courage to ask him.

It's fairly safe to say that Goretk is one badass Dwarf. It's likely we'll find a very rough and tumble character who will want you to slaughter countless Destruction creatures in order to appease his hunger for battle.

Felix on the other hand:

Felix was a student at the University of Altdorf but was expelled from the University for accidentally killing a fellow student in a duel. He became a street corner agitator and was one of the instigators of the Window Tax march, which ended in a bloodbath. Felix was saved by Gotrek, and since he was being pursued by the authorities and knew the Dwarfish attitude to oathbreakers, he had no choice but to leave the city in the company of the Slayer and thereby begin his most extraordinary adventures.

Felix rarely leaves the side of Gortrek and they have fought side by side on numberous occassions. They are an unusual pair who compliment each others fighting skills.

Thyrus Gormann

According to Games Workshop:

Thyrus Gormann, Master of the Bright College of magic, has been the Supreme Patriarch and the leader of all the wizards in the Empire for many years. Recently he has been defeated by a young Gold wizard, going under the name of Balthasar Gelt. Thyrus has accepted defeat and has sworn loyalty to the new Patriarch, but his fiery blood will certainly see him in the position of the Challenger when the next Duel is held. Thyrus often attends the Imperial court in Altdorf and is one of Karl Franz's oldest and most trusted nobles.

Essentially every 7 years the representatives from all the magical colleges choose a Supreme Patriarch and Gormann had been it for a very long time until a young upstart came and defeated him. An extremely powerful Bright Wizard, he is not to be trifled with.

Grand Theogonist Volkmar

According to Games Workshop:

In the reign of Karl Franz the Grand Theogonist is Volkmar the Grim. Volkmar is now an old zealous preacher, utterly devoted to the destruction of Chaos, but just a few years ago he also was a mighty warrior, not afraid to face the peril of battle. When the Theogonist accompanied the Empire army into battle he rode on the War Altar of Sigmar, a huge chariot which carries the sacred altar surmounted by a huge statue of a griffon. The griffon statue was fashioned on the orders of Magnus the Pious after his accession, and is the emblem of his dynasty.

Well respected within the Empire, Volkmar will stop at nothing to see the destruction of Chaos having dedicated his life to their demise. While not quite as formidable as he once was, do not underestimate the power of his zeal.

Beastmaster

According to Games Workshop:

Since the distant days of Nagarythe, our folk have been experts at bending beasts and animals to our will. However, some show exeptional aptitude in this, and can command even the unruliest beasts with a single word. They are the famed Beastmasters. When a child shows talent for taming animals he is sent to the city of Karond Kar to study under the masters who dwell there.

The Beastmasters are also in charge of the slaves, for humans, Orcs and their like are no more than beasts themselves. Beastmasters are experts at getting the most out of their stock, and are always chosen from amongst the most robust and resourceful of the Dark Elves.

Pretty much the epitome of evil, these Dark Elves are trained in methods most would consider cruel. Able to tame both beast and man, it is certain they will always have a pet to assist them in battle.

heh even the dark elves hate this guy. he was possesed by a daemon and tore them up pretty badly.

to free himself he had to gather some powerful artifacts held by various people(things) then was cheated release so now he pretty much wants to get back at the daemon.

he betrayed his own people to a chaos band to get one of the items ,so he isnt very popular with ANY DE.

Tho Malekith saw he was possessed and used him to remove someone he didnt like . he will still be attacked by most other DE's on sight.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

  • Gotrek and Felix are major character to the Warhammer Lore, same are Volkmar. I can remember them being a part of the lore for like the last 18 year. However Thytus Gormann is very new and I don't give him much credit (puke). Malus Darkblade got famous because of Warhammer Montly comic book. In the end Malus Darkbalde become a miniture figure with stats. I am looking forward to see Gotrek and Felix, but some of the new character; I dont care much fore. I also looking forward to see famous landmarks.
