Just how often(frequent) are the load screens?

Hiya, hopefully one of you can answer a question i have about the AoC beta, as ive been unable to play recently due to hardware problems.

I know that at the moment, loading screens are a bit lengthy. Thats not what i'm asking, thats to be expected with a stress test. But how often do they pop up, could you compare it to another game?

Ive played everything from FFXI (which had zone lines every three feet, and were used as outs to escape chasing enemies) to WoW (which only really has instanced dungeons and the three continents).

How often do you find yourself at a zone line in AoC? When you enter a city? More often?

Thanks for your time

on noob island i.e. tortage there are a few load screens. the city and surrounding forest are all one zone. there is an acheronian ruins you can enter through an entrance in the forest. zone in. and there is also an underhalls which you have to load into and which is divided into a number of small zones each with a loading screen and multiple instances. and yes you can zone out if youre about to be killed by a ganker. after level 20 the zones get quite a bit bigger. but you could probably spend a few hours between loading screens, killing snakes or ganking and what not.

forgot about white sands which is accessed through tortage by a loading screen. that is a midsized zone with at least one smaller zone inside of it. thats a good spot for ganking along the beach.

As the previous poster mentioned, there are several areas.. ie, underhalls, archerion ruins, white sands isle.. which need to be zoned into.. as a sort of quest and killing area.  There is the noob city of Tortage, it has several shops and inns that you can zone into as well.. not all though, most of the buildings cannot be entered.  Early on, you will find yourself seeing quite a few loading screens, this is because of the quests.  I haven't done any other betas, but I have heard that past the 1-20 tutorial, things open up a bit more and become a little less linear.  I can't tell you for certain though.

I'd say,  if you are doing a number of quests in any one area, you may find yourself zoning only once or twice over an hour or two period.  If you are doing some of the more menial quests, you may end up zoning a dozen times over an hour.

I have 8 gigs.. so it's hard for me to tell you that the loading times are insignificant, but loading into small shops or inns should only take 5 seconds at the most.  Maybe 5 seconds for slightly larger areas.. and upwards to 10-12 seconds to load into the game or go from one large area to another, via entrance or hearthing (path of asura).. bindstones.. eh.  It's all a crapshoot though, I've heard of people waiting several minutes for loading times to finish, which is ridiculous.  You won't know until you try.

If youre wanting a comparison for this, go play Pirates of the Burning Sea. Every town and shop inside of a town is an instance. Even the battles in the open sea are instanced. As are all the land battles.

LOTRO, CoH/V, POTBS are all good comparisons for how much instancing there is in AoC.

According to funcom, loading screens are a new level of immersion.

Loading when you enter any door

Loading when you enter a zone inside a zone (in dungeons)

    Loading when you die

    Loading when you teleport

Loading when you start PVP game

Loading when you die in PVP game

Loading when you win/or loose PVP game

Ookay. Even though the loading screens of some are almost instant? :p (like death, enter a shop/inn/smaller area)

zoning is really quick though...take a look at this video that some guy made on the forums. its good quality, and the loading screen he goes through only lasts maybe 5 seconds... (warning takes a minute or two to buffer as it is large in size)
