It used to be (back when the first 20 levels were truly single-player) that even while you were on the game server you would not pay a monthly fee until you entered the MMO part at level 20. It was being billed as almost a separate RPG where you could buy the box and just play the SP part all you wanted. Now that the SP part has been integrated with more multi-player will players have to pay a monthly fee now before they enter the "true" MMO at level 20? |
We have not changed our goals as far as offering the first 20 levels without subscription as far as I am aware, we have merely listened to the communities desire to want to play together sooner.
Above is from the stickied FAQ, but that hasn't been updated in a while. Is this still true?

This would be awesome. So like if i wanted to stop playing for a while i could stop subing and log on with a under lvl 20 character to stay in contact with my guild?
Not really positive, as i've not heard much on this. From what I've gathered if they do keep this in place then there will most likely be a sort of free trial for new players, maybe.. As I cannot really see how this would work otherwise.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
I doubt it will be immediately in place even if it is in the works at all. They will want all the subs to buy as much as possible initially. 'Free Trials' usually come when the game company wants to generate a surge of players after the regular sales tsunami has died down.
Well thats what they said, just awaiting confirmation that it actually went live.
Bump as early access gets closer to possibly get a confirmed answer~
Yes/No/Maybe?
I sincerely hope not, as then you'd have a million goldsellers spamming freely on their under 20 accounts.
If they make non-subscribed players unable to chat to anyone outside of Tortage, then maybe. Otherwise, no. Of course then all the new players will get turned off by the uncontrolled spamming, thinking it was part of the whole game.
