Copying files from one comp to another

So the whole installiing process and patching process took a painfully long time.

Am I able to copy the files across from one computer to other, so I don't have to do it agains.

Cheers for any help!

yeah, you're gonna wanna do it the old fashion way. Sorry!

I have actually been trying to RAR my installed+updated directory and burn it on 4 "DVD5" sized disks.

My plan was to do this for a couple of my friends who are gonna play using my extra Buddy Passes.

I determined WinRAR should split the files at 643MB's so I wouldn't waist any space on the blank DVD's.

After three attempts I gave up. Because it didn't work for them? NO!

Where I live has been plagued by storms the past three days.

Every time I would get anywhere from 13 hours to 20+ hours into the the RAR compression, THE POWER WOULD GO OUT!

... and I don't have a APC power backup unit.

The compressed size of the AoC installed+updated directory was estimated at 18GB.

This would have fit perfectly on 4  regular DVD's.

It would have taken them about 1 hour (or less) to UnRAR the directory to their PC.

It's a shame... oh well,  they might not have been able to use it anyway.

    The world may never know.

Well, I successfully RAR'd my AoC installed directory and burned it to 4 DVD's.

Then I completely uninstalled AoC and deleted the directory.

Next, I extracted the RAR's from the DVD straight to my hard drive.

This process took 1 hour (almost exactly). After that, I launched the file AgeOfConan.exe and it worked!

NOTE: I did get a popup dos screen that had a bunch of errors but the game launched without fail.

After the first run, I closed AoC and launched it again. No errors at all this time.

It seems to work fine, and only cost me 1 hour of install time and 4 DVD's.

Worth it for me, as I am waiting on my new gaming notebook to arrive.

I should be looking at a 1 hour extraction and whatever new patches are available since I created the backup.

(RAR'd my directory on 05/28/08 and it took 24 hours solid on BEST compression)

    Hope this helps someone!

    I stand corrected.

I tried my "already installed directory" method on an extra system, and upon running AgeOfConan.exe I got the d3dx9_36.dll error. I also got the xinput1_3.dll error. I downloaded both of those files and placed them into the root directory of AoC. I ran the patcher and let it update, then I launched the game.

Another problem popped up. During all of the intro videos, the video plays fine but the audio is mainly choppy and catches up for about 5 seconds... then chops again.

I am going to re-install DX9c on the extra PC and see what happens.
