Level 1 to 20 (Tortage) was fun in a single player sort of way. After that it just got worse and worse. I played a priest of seth to level 35.

Bad points (MY opinion):

- Combat becomes boring after a while. the combo system is cool in the beginning but becomes a chore later on.

- No casting when running is a big turnoff.

- I thought player skill was needed? The player being able to influence the last 20% strength of his character is NOT player skill.

- Missing content, lots of bugs. I will not pay to beta test their product.

- Lol at the crafting part.

- Soooo many quest, but they are all the same. After a while you just accept, run to the x or the circle on the map, do whatever it says, run back to get bad loot and collect new quests. Then at some points there is nothing to do.

- Mindnumbing easy. My only thoughts were: Is something interesting and challenging ever going to happen? And no, NPCs with double the HP and double the damage does not mean more challenging.

Good points (MY opinion):

- stunning graphics for a MMO

- Tortage

- Interesting classes

- good audio

I will be back in 6 months to see what has happened. The game does have potential, but I do not think that Funcom will be able to show it. Overall I think the game is what you get when you try to make a MMO for a console and casual players at the same time. Its a game for loging in for an hour, do 4-5 quests, log off and come back in a few days. I am sure a lot of players will like it, but in its current state I do not. If you are telling me to keep on playing then I have to ask you: If I am bored at level 35, why do you think that minor changes in the new leveling areas will change that? Anyway, good luck to everyone in the game who likes it and is having fun. To everyone else: Its back to waiting :(

Get ready for responses such as, "Wait until lvl 50, 60, 70, 80!", "lol your PC sux", "MMO launches are always like this", "nobody cares", etc...

This should be the way forward for mmorpgs but they got hung up on grafics and released it on that alone.

yeah they pulled in the masses to start with but in a mmorpg that aint enought.

nice try in pushing the mmorpg format forward but its a false start imo

    sadd but true

    flame plz

Plus the clases r broke :/

I think it's funny how bad the trolls think fanboys are here.  There are like 3 or 4 of us that even stick around to support the game, and none as extreme as the weakest troll.

Anyway I hear you man...  A lot of people are waiting and it makes sense.  If you don't like the unpolished stuff and lack of content in areas now then just wait and come back.  I mean you got it pretty good.  Instead of a beta they are busting their butts to keep subs and fixing things quickly.  If you wait for 3 months now it will be like waiting for 6 months in beta.  I don't mind paying AND testing it out for you.  I hope you find a game to enjoy in the mean time.

I saw it coming at the beta test and open pvp weekend, so i didnt buy the game. Pretty graphics, thats about it...nothing new to see here except bugs/exploits that i have never seen before.

I am going to give it another 3-4 months see if i can get a free trial if i am not into WAR by then.....

  • starman999starman999 Member Posts: 1,232

So basically its a better looking version of Guild wars with a few tweaks and a monthly fee tacked on?

at least he wasn't one of those i quit for ever people....they piss me off.

anyway good idea,  anyone who does not like the game at the moment should hold off for 3-6 months.  then give it another shot.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

My WoW subscription ended today and I'm testing out a bunch of new MMORPGs because WoW is boring after 3 years of playing. I want to check out what other games are out there before investing my cash into WoW again. I won't jack your account, since its your payment still on it and I'm the one who should be showing respect. My e-mail is Sneaky_lil_monkey195@yahoo.com
Please consider letting me play on it
    Thanks.

The games garbage. If you wanna play it fork out 50 like the rest of us suckers who bought into a buggy pos game thats been hacked and exploited beyond recognition.. Chances are if you can't afford to buy it you can't run it either on a low to mid end pc..

No, I know I can run it, I just don't want to spend $50 on something that I possibly won't even like and not be able to return, they don't even have a free trial on the website and that kinda ticks me off. Lol and after researching some about the game after I made the post, I saw alot of people say it sucked and say it was good at the same time, so I'm EXTREMELY curious to try it out.

No not at all.  It's more like EQ2 mixed with WoW with a very cool combat system, awesome graphics, nice lore, mature content, and some great pvp fun.  Should get even better when sieges are polished up and running.  Then I guess you could mix in some Lineage 2.

Between WAR, the LoTRO expansion and a couple of single player games that are coming out in the next few months I dunno if I will ever get back around to playing AoC, or if I do it won't be this calendar year for sure. I thought the game was more like Oblivion with a bad chatroom than a MMORPG.

    I miss DAoC

I canceled my account tho. Here is my reasons...

-The game is not fun at all.

-Stunning graphics but its also stunning my computer. Im tired with instant frozen screen while a player casting spell or when there is changing on effects. Need more more more optimization. When we come 6ppl together, then fps and frozen issues happen badly. I can't imagine 48 vs 48 battlesieges.

-Not fluid pvp coz of low fps and frozen issues.

    - There are some mechanic problems, you cannot hit last hit of combos while running because of animations. Its really bad.

    -Stucking in loading screens.

-Unbelievable bugs like stats and skills. ( stats has been fixed with patch just rofl ) Game was like alpha at retail its now beta. I feel that they test on us the game to fix it.

-There is no variety on items. You wear same gear 10-40 then with color change you wear same gear between 40-80lvls. Only dungeon drops have different look. Im really curious what did they 4 years????

-There is no variety on abilities on pvp. All classes have knockback, stun and same combos with different names. Maybe you can expect there is balance coz of this, but there is nothing about it. Weapons are looks same...

-There is no good info about feats, skills and combos.

-You must grind after 48-80. There are few quest to do. You must do repeatitive quests to grind.

-To follow directions makes headache. Casters spam 1111222 ezmode, boring.

Bad side, there is no another mmo to play atm and I'm rly boring . I'm waiting now for Spellborn, Warhammer and Mortal Online.

Comparing it to Oblivion's to kind, the game was alot like Gothic 3 without the content.

I've already lost 53 bucks, been mislead, lied to, and wasted my time- oh and they even managed to actually offend me on my way out the door. Why the hell would I give them a second chance, throw good money after bad? It isn't like AoC is the only mmorpg out there, or the only new release anytime soon. Sheesh.

Excuse me for playing the game in a different language. I didn't bother to look for the proper name in english and the tempest of set IS a priest after all. Further I couldn't care less if it is Set or Seth or if you think I am a troll or not.

I'm canceling as well, while also hoping it's worth returning to in six months or a year.

The game looks great and once you get the hang of things most classes play great. The first 20 levels are excellent (though this isn't with out flaw, for replayability there really should be starter zones for all three races), the next ten levels are ok, but it goes down hill after that.

This is the prime example of an MMORPG with huge potential, but gimped by a far too early release.

Core game mechanics were not even in at launch and many aren't working right now. (Stats did nothing at all until last patch and some player tests show that there is almost no difference for survivability between Plate armor and cloth armor, etc...)

There is far too little content for the player level range.  The game really should have had twice the number of zones, three times the number of quests and a lot more small instances before launch.

Itemization is horrible. Variety of looks is very poor and variety and meaningfullness of item stats is a joke as well.

A lot of the lack of variety in armor appearance stems from the extremely late inclusion of Female avatars in the last stages of Beta. All armor needs to have male and female counterparts and those parts all need to be fit to the models and have morph targets for sizing and shaping to match your body settings. According to a dev post, there are hundreds of different looks that were designed, but not currently available to players (most likely for the reason mentioned).

I know MMORPGs releasing too early is a cliche, but it is very clear this game really needed a lot more time.

The sad thing is that this game has had huge initial success, but chances are their subscription numbers six months after launch and moving beyond will be a fraction of what they would have been if they had waited to launch a more complete product.

I thought most people here would know better than to buy a game at launch ;)

Personally, I haven't played the game, because I dislike having to deal with ridiculously high system requirements. And because I know how these franchise games always suffer from their own hype.

From what I've read, I think more seasoned MMORPG players will not be crazy about AoC, whereas others may like its simplicity.

For me, EQII would still be the best game on the market, if my servers were not so deserted.

AC (retired); EQ (retired); DAoC (retired); Horizons (retired); EQII (retired); CoH (retired); AC II (tested); Lineage II (beta); Neocron (tested); Saga of Ryzom (beta); SWG (retired)...

Yes your right and I keep telling myself that I shouldnt buy an MMO at launch,  But I think its ok to try its first month and then come back later!

I dont think ill be canceling for as long as 6months, it really depends.  I will be playing Vanguard first, but also keep meaning to try CoX again, and then there is the new Eve expansion.

I wonder does OP really play game? Priest of seth? That doesnt exist...

    Anyway...im lvl 80 ranger.

Lack of quests are after lvl 50+, from lvl 75+ its only grinding (10 000 000 XP), it can be done with good party in 5-6 hours of gameplay.

TOS is easy mode gameplay, totaly overpowered class easyest to play due to melee "imunity" (not full but allmost :p) and sick damage.

game is bugged, classes not balanced, invisible walls everywhere, FPS in some situations sickly low. In 24 man raid i had 9FPS (9500 phenom, 1000mhz 4GB ram, 8800GT)

Should i stay or should i go :)

I decided to stay...since there is nothing else to play anyway.

As far as MMOs go this game still had one of the best launches out if not the best.  As far as people complaining about missing content, graphics causing them to freeze lock up etc. Missing content is something that happens in most MMOs and if you have a problem with the graphics try toning down to a lower quality and turning some stuff off and if that doesn't work maybe you shouldn't be playing on an HP from 1989 and upgrade the pos you are trying to run it on.

Yea i do agree this game could of had a even better launch than it did if it was delayed, but think about this delaying shit pisses people off about the same as bugs do. I know people out there are like well whatever this game was a let down and I can't wait to play WAR to get away from WoW, to those people WAR is NOT THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE!!

If you've seen the gameplay clips the game is basically a prettier version of WoW it is basically WoW 2.0, but I know better, considering Blizzard basically ripped off the whole Warcraft and Starcraft universes from Warhammer and 40k it should be the other way around. You people waiting for WAR to get away from WoW are basically playing WAR 1.0.

    Current MMO: Aion
MMO Watch: Warhammer 40k Online, SWToR, GW2.
Played: Planetside, SWG, EQ, EQ2, L2, WoW, RFO, KAL, MxO, Voyage, RO,Vanguard,Tabula Rasa, Horizons, CoH/CoV,, Lotro, FFXI
First MMO: Everquest (Tunare Server, Ronin/Tide Guild)

I think thats the only reason AOC is semi suceeding if they had to have had 1 more delay pushing it close to WAR then the game would have failed epicly but good marketing savvy by FC to push it now even in a beta state I personally didnt bother with it after beta as there is enough good single player games out there to tide me over till WAR, AION.

Mark my words though come WAR AION and whatever the name is of that WOW expansion AOC will be a sub 50k subber

Whoa, never mind missing content, how about the missing paragraphs! lol

No I dont think conans launch was problematic, probably the best launch Ive ever seen.  Neither is the problem "missing content" there is enough there to keep people going, its not like there are huge empty fields like there was in Vanguard.

In fact, any "problem" you see with Conan is just being a nit-picker really, everyone knows that MMO's just get better and better as they get older..  so its more a case of "goodness, if this is the game now, its going to be mind blowing in 6 months - I dont want to spoil the experience, I'll wait to play it in its full glory"
