I won't say that AoC is a perfect game or a WoW killer but I don't think they can say a lot about subscribers as half of their subscriptions, hell probably their most loyal members, are gold sellers! As for AoC I give them 10/10 for getting rid of farmers.

WoW is alive and kicking. its growing and will be the king of MMOs for a LONG time to come. AoC is in a downward spiral and unless something big happens, its going to end up as just another MMO.

I'm not an AOC hater, nor am I a WoW Lover, but man, you have to pass me whatever it is your smoking since it alters reality to such an extent. Logic says you are wrong.
First, its a western marketed game. AKA: There goes 5 million players they WON'T have over WoW.
Second, its western market is in the middle of a recession....and it requires far too much of a financial investment in PC upgrades. There probably went another 2 million players.
Third, they still have failed to provide even half of what they hyped themselves over. So even among the ones who ARE western market AND have the PC required...you are still going to lose players who just won't stand around paying for a beta.
Last...not everyone really gives two dimes about the Conan universe. The warcraft universe had millions of fans ALREADY. Many, many millions of fans....and many more that were just plain fans of Blizzard anyway.
In summary....AoC will never have a larger playerbase than WoW. In fact, no one ever will again. They had a perfect recipe, and VERY good luck, that granted them what they have and its not likely to repeat itself ever again. Especially now that we are entering an age where we move from consoles to PC (or consoles which ARE PC's). There will no longer be blockbuster console producers that can come through to the online market.

Oh and PS we really do have to remember that the majority of WOWs numbers are from casual Asian players who do not pay by the month but by the hour at a much cheaper rate. They don't even have to buy the game, just go into a game arcade.
Their system is completely different working on the Asian model. In fact they have different subscription models in China, Korea,Taiwan; each suiting the local society. (Note: You can see this, and how they keep you sucked into the game by offering more and more armours and weapons making you feel you put so much work into your toon that you couldn't leave by checking out the Blizzard financial plan on the internet. How many tiers of armour are there now?)
This does make WoWs numbers far higher but the vast majority are not monthly subscribers from Europe, Americas or Oceania as they are in other games yet they are still counted as subscribers.

Little glitches?! Did you just say "little glitches"?! So the female character combat bug is a little glitch, right? The simple fact that most feats do not work is a little glitch, right? The fact that a bug was introduced with the last patch that destroyed all socketed gems from player made items, that's a small glitch right?

you obviously don't know anything about the mmo market now or then, WoW more then tripled the existing market and for AoC to do what WoW did they would need 30 million subscriptions. The other obvious thing is that AoC's sales are already slowing down and will soon come to a complete halt, the other thing is that only around 10% of those that have bought AoC have signed up for an ongoing subscription past the 30 day free.
I too, bought Age of Conan, hoping the melee system would be better. and I was deceived.
But first, the graphics are ridiculous amazing, and those people who say that Age of Conan needs a "beefy" system, is flat out freakin poor and/or also think Vista is a shitty system, because they can't seem to do their own research (I have vista, and it runs extremely well... and looks great on my 42 inch lcd tv). I play it 50fps on highest graphics with my 2gigs of ram, and 9600gt (which was $200 btw. Not that expensive). But the graphics are pretty freakin ridiculous.
I level'd an assassin to about 32, when I got really sick of the game. I like instancing, but their system was retarded.
The combat system, is by far, what i hated the most. yeah, it was neat being able to control my swings, but after awhile, it gets monontnous. i had to reconfigure the whole keyboard, just be able to use the damn system. I even got a Nostromo, and I was STILL lacking keys. I prefer the auto-attack now, over AoC's melee system. It's a cool idea, it just took more effort than it was worth. Alot of the time i forgot i had combos, and just started mashing buttons.
Because of this ,I started playing World of Warcraft again. the graphics aren't as in depth, but I still love the look of it. And there's no way Age of Conan is going to EVER out-sub WoW. they have 10mil. seriously. that's alot of subscriptions. And Blizzard is really good at what they do - take an ok idea, and make it freakin awesome.
