So i was a late bloomer with AoC. After the debacle that is known as Dark and Light i am very wary of getting a game till after a month of release.
When LoTRO was released i was embroiled in my attempt to rekindle my first MMO love called Dark Age of Camelot. It was enjoyable but in the end the low pops of the servers was a detriment to such a well done game.
So after a month i buy AoC, i wish i hadn't, what a terrible let down this game was for me. I should have learned my lesson when i was a Closed beta tester with Anarchy Online just how bad Funcom is with there community relations and there patching schemes.
After attempting to play my newly nerfed Necromancer, i just got sick of it, exited out and cancelled my subscription.
But i am an addict to MMOs i play them instead of watching movies, or T.V. So i had to find a new addixtion, It boiled down to Tabula Rasa or LoTRO . Pricing of each had nothing to do in my decision, even though LoTRO was 1/2 that of TR. What made my decision for me was the community and how open and supportive they all seem, (opposed to the angry, bitter and resentful community of TR) of course there are those naysayers and bitter players (in every MMO i have played), but those were few and far between in LoTRO.
As i st here waiting for my Download to complete, i am anxious to start a new game. I am anxious to explore the world that Tolkien/Turbine has created.
With that stated, i just wanted to tell you all who are supporters of this game, that because of you and your attitudes you have gained another player. I hope that in some way you all know that because of your optimism you grow this game more then just the developers can.
Anyhow off to start my game, sorry for the WALL OF TEXT,and the semi unintended brown nosing, i just wanted to thank those who helped me decide.
(It was those in this forum not the official forums, which is a rare thing to find on MMORPG.com)

Welcome and enjoy of Middle-earth!
If you are looking for a Kinship, this is our portal http://heroesoflegend.com.ar and if you wanna know more about us http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Kinship:Heroes_of_Legend
Well still a noob to this game i am assuming Kinship is a guild in this game, and fellowships are Groups ?
Not sure what server i should play on.
Anyhow i appreciate the reply.
Brandywine is a very good server...
Edit: and yes the community in LOTRO is very supportive and everyone loves the lore and the game itself.
While i do not think turbine did the greastest job with the game..it is very polished and has a good feel of immerson and very enjoyable
Welcome to Middle-earth. If you have yet to pick a server I suggest Landroval. Although the population is lower, I've had a good experience on Windfola as well.
Have fun in middle-earth!
The community is very much one of the best aspects with LotrO! Very friendly and mature for the most part...
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
Welcome!! I would also suggest Landroval. It is a great server, and does have RP, if you are interested.
Good lord people, stop going to Brandywine. There are other servers out there.
Try Vilya...home of many of the world firsts (back in the day).
i quit age of conan too and im downloading LOTR right now, i left AoC cause Funcom completly ignored my class and they are doing a horable job
so HELLO! LOTR GOOD BYE AoC
FUNCOM THEY PUT THE FU IN FUN!!
also im looking for a PvP server whats the best one there is on this game? im also looking for the PvP server thats a good PvE server too
Brandywine has good PvP.
Silverlode has good PvP with a lot of drama and politics. Oh and the creep tribe BSE seems to be the best of any server so the fights are always good.

Welcome to Middle-Earth and I hope you enjoy your adventure.
Welcome to LOTRO! Remember to take you time and have fun!

yeah, i just cancelled my AoC account and trying LotrO as well. I did try Lotro out during the beta and a little while afterwards but stopped for outside reasons. from what i remember it was fun.
Welcome, I'm trying lotro myself, nearing the end of the 14 day trial and still like it. Game does indeed have friendly, for the most part, players and high levels willing to help anyone that needs it. I play on Snowbourn on EU servers,
Been struggling to find a game to keep me interested longer than a few hours so looks like i might try a new server to meet some new ppl see ya'a in game guys and gals LoTRO lives on .
Well hello everyone
Being an old LOTRO vet, I'm glad to see the inflow of new players that's always good.
You'll have tremendous fun with a LOT to do, with book 14 coming out this month, and Mines of Moria arriving later this year
I'm on Snowbourn in EU as well btw!

LOL!!! LoTRO should be paying referral bonuses. I too signed up for AoC and after 2 toons, I can't take the piss poor product or support over there.
That said, Turbine scares the crap out of me too because my experience with them was DDO, and that bored me to tears. I felt 'wronged' by that game just like I did with AoC.
We shall see. I'm keeping an open mind and downloading the client this evening. I enjoy PvE so this sounds promising!

I'm debating starting lotro again too, however I don't want to start again and then have WAR announce OB decisions, decisions...

I play AoC, and still will I am still enjoying that game actually.. to each his own, but I figured I would give LoTR a shot to play alongside AoC. Sounds fun, and I loved the books/movies .

I'm thinking that if the OP thought "Age of Conan" was the game for him/her then "Lord of the Rings: Online" seems like an extremely weird alternative since the two games cater to VASTLY different player preferences.
Age of Conan is story, VERY fast levelling meant to take you to 80 as fast as possible and then PvP in various forms. According to one of their recent news letters levelling is thought to perhaps not be fast enough!
Lord of the Rings: Online is pure PvE with a World of Warcraft Battleground PvP element tagged on (instanced battle area, grind battles for points and loot).
Both are good games if you seek what they supply but they are very unalike in my opinion.
Actually PvP in AoC is much more simillar to WoW than LotrO... Ettenmoors isnt instances and its a persistant battlefield.. no capture the flag (skull) or that kind of things that have no place in MMOs IMO...
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
i think the future of pvmp would be a war zone divided into smaller areas in which if the creeps or freeps get control of the zone, it moves on to the next one. And when the creeps or freeps get to the last zone all creeps that participated get a nice reward like a barter item that can be used to get the ultimate bling bling armor in lotro.
