Is Mythic's choice to take out content swaying players decisions to play?

Do you think that Mythic's decision to take out some content in Warhammer Online (such as taking out 4 cities) making players change their mind to play the game? (Im still going to play the game even though they are doing this... AoC added content after the games release.)

    Nope,

I'll try this game, make my decision just like I did with that game the liers from Funcom put out.  And if the game doesn't make me happy, i'll uninstall it and feed it to my dog like I did with my AOC discs.   At least Mythic people are letting us know what's going on, unlike the garbage that Funcom did.

People think it is but if the game is getting good words, from testers, and good youtube videos after the NDA drops you know all the people pissing and moaning will be back to fanatical supporters. Then again it can go the other way too, we will know in a month or so.

Nope, Ill be playing when it launches. Id give you the reasons why but that will have to wait till the NDA drops even then Im not gonna try to "convert the masses" to WAR. If you think you will like it, play if not , don't that simple.

With the recent complete letdown AoC was to me when I pre-ordered the CE x 5, I've decided I am going to wait for the first month after release before I check what WAR is going to be like.

My decision to wait has nothing to do with removing content... it has to do completely with the letdown of the AoC launch.

Yup, first Vanguard let me down, then AOC let me down...especially LYING TO EVERYONE.  Damn them...damn them to helll!!!!  Ok back to my vodka.

Removing the content only fueled me into buying it more.

If the game is bad you can always just play it drunk, or high if that's your preference. Then it doesn't matter much how the game plays, you'll be spending most of your time making sexual /emotes to everything that lets you click on it, trying to find the "kill button", and of course typing into the general chat things like "hEY , ANYONE NIOP whpoppswhaer teh fyuakin qqqqqqueaasttthing is////?"

    Lets face facts.

Just becuase they are being honest and upfront about it doesn't change the fact that this is still bad.  Damage control early on is obvious and I have to make a bold prediction....I expect more content to be cut if this pace keeps up.  This is probably the tip of the iceberg of what is to come sadly....

For those downplaying the cut content I am suprised you all would take such a stance.  From a PVE, PVP, or even a RVR perspectives it puts limitations on players and what they can and can't do.  Expect frustrations levels to rise beucase of the missing core pieces of what is being advertised about this game which is supposed to seperate itself from the rest of the MMORPG pack.

Because of this recent news I do not forsee myself playing WAR.

It's just PR spin trying to make it sound like a good thing....

Fact the game is not ready to be released and they're in damage limitation mode.

Testing it, and it s ready get over it. Stop trying to make WAR look bad because your game failed or is failing.

nope i'm still gonna play it. but not right away, cause i hate buggy launches, and all mmos tend to have em...the only one i will put up with though is Stargate Worlds!

Sssshhhhh your not supposed to mention that it is shipping unfinished.

Cue the singing fairies dancing lollipops and sunshine:

The letter to the community is supposed to make you LOVE Mythic for "keeping us informed to underdevelopment".

The posting that Mythic put up explains the "not in the game until its perfect"aspect of its underdevelopment cycle and its dedication to not providing a full game upon release. This is going to be a great game that is only half developed at launch.

Perhaps it will be half as great as the hype by their overzealous spokesman.I cant wait to see him be half as enthusiastic about Warhammer. It will be over the top and hilarious!!!

The players that choose this will log in and discover (even though they all like the fact they are being kept in the underdevelopment loop)that its only half developed and they will whine and threaten to quit anyway.

Gosh i hope i dont get flamed perhaps ill get half as much flamage.

Surprisingly, most of the WAR fans are welcoming the cut of 4 cities out of 6 as the best thing that has happened to WAR. They are actually happy and full of hope

  • Zerocool032Zerocool032 Member Posts: 729

Mythic is the best damn MMO developer ever.  They are being honest about removing content to meet deadlines.  They don't want players expecting more than what they're actually getting (the case with AoC).

Even if content is removed, it shouldnt hurt the essence of the gameplay itself.  I just hope they took the best from DAoC and threw it in WAR

Makes me laugh when it comes to fanbois because they can't admit when something is bad and I cn't possibly see how these things are good. If a game is good then I'll praise it but if it's bad then I'll plain shit all over it and get called a troll.

    No.

I doubt the recent changes will cause anyone to pass on WAR.   Personally I like the cities change.  The action will be more focused when there are only 2 cities at a time.  Note Mark says theyre going to rotate cities in *and out*.  There will always be only 2 active cities.  I think this is good, as anyone who has played DAOC knows that fewer places to RVR means more focused action.

As far as the 4 classes being cut, that sucks, but oh well.  Plenty of other classes to pick from.

  • bonobotheorybonobotheory Member UncommonPosts: 1,007

Two of the classes I was looking forward to playing were cut, along with the capital cities for those races.

Before this news, I was definitely going to play the game, now I'm in the "maybe" camp.  Hopefully I'll be distracted by Wrath of the Lich King, or a new content patch for CoH, and I'll forget all about WAR. By the time Mythic puts that content back in, there will be enough feedback on the game for me to make an educated decision about the game, instead of giving in to hype.

Denial has built modern civilization and helped us become more social AND has made a ton of cash for mmo developers.

Im playing AoC currently and enjoying it but i do know there are issues with it and knew this BEFORE i bought it because i didnt play at launch.I wathced the postings and negative reviews and bought it anyway.

I make the argument that its Funcom and in a year it will be a better game. Now we are seeing the same thing happen with WAR every fanboi is saying "its mythic and at least they told us before they screwed us".

What you guys didnt see this coming? The large hand on the shoulder and close proximity of an unseen entity behind you?

If I wasn't in beta I might have been swayed by the news, because my opinion then would be more based on speculation than facts. But with first hand knowledge it doesn't bother me a great deal, certainly not enough to not play it. Am I dissipointed, sure. But it really is minor in the grand scheme of things, definitely blown out of proportion by trolls and AoC fans. There is still more content even after the cuts than other games at release.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
    Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

I don't think removing four cities is all that bad to be honest, after seeing how big the cities are and how much there is to do in them. The four classes though, will be very interesting to see how things work with two missing tanks.

Kudos to Mythic for being honest, I think that's the most important thing for many people, whether the game launches finished or not is kinda unavoidable these days, but actually having a developer/publisher that can be HONEST with it's players is pretty much a first.

I'd rather a company tell me up front something is being removed rather than a company banning players for accessing areas they aren't supposed ot in-game.

Remember the bans that were issued in WoW when players would try to reach the Ironforge Airstrip or access into Old Ironforge? I say if your content isn't ready or you don't want someone accessing it then take it out of the game.

I decide in open beta whether or not to buy a game. Pre-orders are a bad idea as far as I'm concerned as every MMO to date has had to cut some features which were promised yet couldn't be delivered. If the game is not fun in open beta or they don't have an open beta then I won't play their game, simple as that.

Stop whining and login so I can kill you!

I will judge a game when it is released.  I didn't see the content before it was cut, so from my point of view nothing was cut.

Unlike AoC which is removing things after release, like:

Good looking boobs that don't sack -Removed.   The are small and saggy now.

The Ability to walk up a hill - removed.

The ability to map keys - removed.

remember that scene of peter griffin and the "Pow, right in the kisser!"?

thats pretty much what Mythic did to their community

GG,Mythic, screwing it all months before releasing.NOT EVEN Funcom managed to screw so soon.
