I pre-order warhammer from a local gamestop and got the Open Beta code. I pre-order it only for the Code to try out the game. But if I didn't like it I'm going to cancel the pre-order. I wonder if I'm going to get my 5 bucks back LMAO...

Your going to have to buy it now, using the code and all. It's like buying a game using the serial code and trying to return it. They wouldnt do it.

I mean like if I don't want it and i give them the 5 dollar. They can forget it and they might sell it back out? haha...
You could just not pick it up, not a very cool thing to do though. It would be like ordering a pizza then not picking it up.
i don't see why they would be mad. If you don't buy the game then they will sell it for the retail price again plus they have your $5.

Gamestop lets you reserve for 5 dollars in store (10 for CE when they had them) of any mmorpg - if there's a little prerorder bonus code you get it then , you can use it for whatever it gives you , head start or open beta /both
If you dont like it you can go back to Gamestop at any time and say you want to cancel your preorder and get your 5 (or 10) dollars back -
ITS ALWAYS BEEN this way folks , from Vanguard to PotBS or AoC to anything with a bonus with preorders - they dont ask for the little card back or anything - Best Buy is slightly different as its an actual box you have to open to get the codes out - likely cant return it but worst case you get your money back
The code that comes with preorder has nothing to do with the retail game code and isnt tied/tracked/matched to some magical copy you have to buy - ie you could preorder from Gamestop and pick up your retail from BB and use that code and get a refund on your Gamestop preorder or vice versa - works fine - done it many times
I have multiple CE on preorder from several GS and EB's (and Amazon) while Ebaying some a few are for me and my friends - if we dont think the early start is fun enough I can either simply go into GS and say I want to cancel my preorder for those 3 and get my 30 bucks back and never enter a retail code or get them and sell them too
Either way like it or not smart folks have figured out over the past couple years the preorder bonus for open beta or early start is a way to try the game out at launch for free basically with Gamestop and worst case 10 bucks you cant return from Best Buy
So YES YOU DO GET YOUR MONEY BACK FROM GAMESTOP _ quit saying you dont - you dont even have to have your receipt - they just look up your phone number in the system and cancel it their - I've done it many times at different gamestops
You will not get your money back. The only thing they will do is transfer your $5 to another game or pre-order IF you cancel before the copy comes in. If you wait till the copy is there you will completely lose your $5.

as a former employee it has been this way for many years now. typically what happens is when u preorder a game that has something like open beta or something of the such you will either a) get a box with the info inside. they will just look to see if u have the game preordered and just give u the box. no information is inputted into thier system saying they gave you the box. b) they just give you a scratch off sheet of paper with the beta code on it, after they check to see if you have it reserved. sometimes they will just give them away even if you dont have it reserved.
befor release or after release, you can cancel your reservation and get your 5 bucks back! no matter the circumstances.
If you don't like the game then just dont go in and buy it.

Best friend is a store manager at gamestop(ebgames). They WILL let you return it, and you WILL get your money back.
They frown on it because it's a negative in their books, but they will let you do it. I just would wait a while so they forget who you are to avoid the bitching that might occur.
While talking about this, is Mythic going to make Pre-Paid cards (like SOE, NCSoft, AoC) for WAR? I really need to know.
Probably burn $5.00 worth of gas just driving there to get the $5.00. heh.

It has already been said, but a few posts right under the explination, someone else said "You can't get your money back." Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but any retailer that allows you to preorder also allows you to get your money back, in full, for the preorder amount. And they'll do it with a smile on their face. All that buying the preorder does is gives you $10 toward the purchase of the retail game & puts another box in the queue for that store. You're just giving the retailer $10 in advance for the game you want to purchase. If you decided to cancel later I have not found any retail chain that gives me a hard time, or even cares, about giving me my $10 back.
In cases like Best Buy, you don't even need to bring the box back. You just take your receipt in (or have them look it up if you lost it and paid with debit/credit) and tell them that you want to cancel your preorder. They will gladly give you the $10 back.
I repeat. ANY RETAIL CHAIN THAT ALLOWS YOU TO PREORDER A GAME WILL GIVE YOU 100% OF YOUR MONEY BACK IF YOU DECIDE TO CANCEL.
