Yeah, I gotta say that the trailer is pretty win right there. Not to mention the voiceover was solid, which is where some of these game trailers really drop the ball.

/agree.... very nice looking video...looks like everyone flies small ships in this game, yes?
Indeed. The idea of large multi-manned ships for players from what I gathered, is one NetDevil has looked at but isn't putting much thought into for the time being.
The game looks awesome but its gonna be published by CodeMasters...
I'm sure things will be fine but CodeMasters isn't good at managing MMOs. I guess we'll see when it comes out.
Yeah I hope NetDevil handles things and CM is just the money people. I don't really rely on customer service so its not a big deal to me but there is a post in the LOTRO forums right about CM. And other Euro people seem to dislike them as well.
But I suspect they will probably rely on CM since they have the infrastructure in place.
Haven't been back to the LOTRO forums for awhile but I would guess the main criticism of CM is the fact they are not Turbine! I've never really liked the idea of having a US Dev/Publisher and an EU hired publisher and it makes me nervous of playing GOA's Warhammer Online.
But with Jumpgate Evolution we have CM as the sole publisher so hopefully it's just a case of people needing to put aside any past bad LOTRO feelings.

I have a lot of bad experiences with Codemasters as well. They are a complete travesty of a company and I'll stay as far away from them as possible. Even Codemasters just handling the money would be a disaster, and I have no doubt they'll screw it up somehow.

I have the exact opposite. Never had any troubles with them in a past. You are from US though, i am surprised that you would engage in any dealings with a EU publisher in a first place.
nice trailer - but did people not realise it's a total Battlestar Galactica rip-off? The music, the pacing... almost identical.
That's what i thought too. Not neccesarily a bad thing though considering how well BSG is done.
The extremely low poly count on everything is a bit of a letdown too. Not that graphics would hold me back on enjoying a MMO though. This one i will pick up for sure to see how it is.
Looks promising. hopefully we'll see an open beta pretty soon. I hate paying for mmog's unless i've actually tried it first. I've played too many and wasted so much time on crap.

As a heads-up, JGE isn't even in closed beta yet. NetDevil and Codemasters are still working on alpha build after alpha build until they're happy to start the first waves of closed beta.
You raise a relevant point though (as a consumer). NetDevil are resolute that open beta will be for marketing and not a lot more. Too many games these days are rushed out of the door unfinished and unpolished (AoC?) or use a large, bug-riddled beta as a tool for testing their product (TR?). The ND folks really don't want to do that for the sole reason that, as you say, nothing's worse than wasting time on crap - and if that crap is being played by thousands of disgruntled gamers before the product even goes gold then you have a problem.

For a second there I thought I was watching the intro to Sins of a Solar Empire... lol. Looks good.

Yes, single seaters, fighters, fighter-bombers and cargo haulers.

At a fear of getting the flames brought upon me, I just have to ask. What is the problem with an intercontinental dev/publisher group?
With a separate hired EU publisher there's the fear of receiving a 2nd Class service.
Well that makes sense, yea I can see your point there. We have the same problem sometimes with US based publishers in europe.
mining was fun in Jumpgate (classic). If you got your orbital mechanics down you have an advantage over other miners.
Better then Eve:
1) You can't be camped at the gate.
2) 3 dimensions.
3) Player skill and tactical knowledge of weapons and ship abilities make a difference, not how long you have been subscribed.
4) You don't lose months of grinding if you get blown up.
5) Traveling is more fun.
6) Docking is challenging and fun.
