WAR looks impressive... but WoW is already in... and with the human conduct of psycological inertia people will by default stay in what they are and avoid changes, this includes mmo switching...   non of the less they are great games...

By the way I am looking foward for AION...

Honestly? I think Warhammer wins out. I saw the Lich king trailer, and while its great and looks nice, warhammer just grabbed my attention. Sure it was sweet seeing the former body of Arthas stirr to life, wander from the throne, and with a thrust of Frostmourne, force the remains of a large dragon to crash through the ice and soar through the air.

Warhammer though, felt like it had more. There were several suprises in the game. Like when the Squig Herder brought out his pet and started beating it over the head, only for it to seemingly devour it, in reality he's chillin insiide the thing. Theres more, but for those who are reading this and havent seen it, I wont spoil the rest for ya :D

I disagree---  I think when it comes to eletronic entertainment people always want something new.

Also anyone who doesn't have a lvl 70 character is going to be uninterested with the expansion.

Plus Warhammer is just a flat out better game then Warcraft (been testing).

Look at Everquest 2 they could release 5 more expansions and it will do nothing to increase their player population.  Sure you will have die hards but Warhammer is gonna blow socks off of Warcraft.

    Definitely agree with Cursedsei.

The WoW Trailer was brilliant and up to a Blizzard standard. But you have to realise the obvious:

    WoTLK: Expansion

    WAR: Game Release

Naturally significantly more resources went into making the WAR trailer what it was. 3 minutes of little action vs. nearly 5 minutes of MASSIVE action. I'll still say Blizzard had slightly better art direction, but by now its pretty much an artform. That isn't to say WAR's cinematic wasnt just purely stunning. Certainly the best thing I've seen for some time!

I think it was smart that both companies made their videos with different focuses. They can't really directly compete with each other in terms of themes.

Thumbs up to both CG teams

Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

I was underwhelmed by the wrath of the lich king video, as I want to see some freakin gnomes already. I was thinking to myself, ok when is the action going to start? and it never did.

The WAR cinematic however kept me entertained the whole time.

  • xenogiasxenogias Member Posts: 1,926

Personally I think Mythic needs to buy WHA's trailer from that and use that as there cinematic for a TV commercial or something like that lol.

  • rashherorashhero Member UncommonPosts: 510

    My 2 cents on this.

Alright you have the WoW trailer. Looks great, very pleasing to the eye. Arthis looks totally badass as does the dragon....thats pretty much sums up the entire trailer

WAR. You see different, individual units with their unique abilities battling it out, winning and losing. You have a good old fashion war going on and you get to see what kind of role you play exactly in it. On top of all of that it looks amazing!

Over all, the WAR trailer wins, not only for its aesthetic value but for its representation of what is actually in the game.

  • singsofdeathsingsofdeath Member UncommonPosts: 1,812

Honestly`? Pretty unimpressed with both. WOTLK, nothing happens, except Arthas posing. Which is all nice and good, but doesn't show much at all.

In the WAR Trailer...well, they've gone from the gritty, brutal first trailer (with a brief splash of comedy) to a big hilarity contest. No blood, no grittiness, lots of flashes and stuff. I liked the first movie WAY better.

But hey, it's just cinematics. ^_^

  • LoiraLoira Member Posts: 89

I don't ythink it is fair to compare the two, because WOW WOTLK is an expansion and WAR is the game release trailer.

If you want to really compare , compare the WOW release trailer with the War release trailer.

  • -aLpHa--aLpHa- Member UncommonPosts: 852

    I like both

The WoW trailer shows the rise of the Lich King and his Army just what i expected.

Well and the WAR trailer actually shows what the Game is about :Y. (the last part was real Warhammer humor, with the Squiq Herder getting shot while laughing his ass off) :o.

I loved the bit when the leader of the Chaos army appeared from behind the warrior with the big horn growing out of his head

Never knew a greater Deamon could look so cool.

Can't really compare the two. WAR had to show bits and pieces of different things in their game since it isn't out yet. They made it action packed to appeal to people. WoW's trailer was mostly lore related and didn't show any cinematic versions of in game mechanics because they don't need to.

I thought both trailers were cool in their own way.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

Both well done but the WAR trailer wins.

DOAC is still the MMO I judge other games by, My first and still my favorite.

I thought the Chaos Lord walking through the gate then summoning the dragon to come through was more impressive then the dragon in LK.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

That wasn't a Dragon, it was a Lord of Change (Highest Demon).

Both look cool, me waiting for a MMORPG that actualy looks/feels/playes the same way we see these intro movies ( hoping on seeing that perhaps in 3/5 years from now)

  • LokyLoky Member UncommonPosts: 182

As cool as the wow trailer was i just could not compare it to the action on the war trailer. I enjoyed the wow trailer, but it lacked something the other 2 had. The length of the war movie won it for me. Both were great though.. nice to have those out there to watch!

Really?,  In reailty no. Do you wanna have sex with the same person the rest of you life?. Why do you think there is so many couple there grow tired of each other. Anyway, Blizzard have always been well know for the great cinematics they done in the past year, like Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 etc. I think its great when game industri can pull up a few millions dollars to make a nice intro movie. But this time its seems that Mythic beat Blizzard with the open intro. Warhammer really caught this time with there global warfare PvP mmorpg. So thats

    Warhammer Online: 1

World of Warcraft - Wraith of the Lich King: 0

Warhammer has the better trailer, but you'd have to be a dummy to buy a game because of a trailer. The trailer sparks your interest enough to look at the game features and actual screenshots, and if those are good, you might read some reviews.

But I doubt anyone is buying a game because the trailer looks cool. Even the crappiest game can make a good trailer.

A movie teaser/trailer - that just to get the attention. When I am in the movie theater, I always watch the new trailer and look on the different poster. Yes, they are just to catch the attention and then people can decide if they wanna try watch it or try read more about it. I think when the mass spammed the Warhammer Online trailer on MTV then a lot of people will research about this new game. Hear from Beta tester, gather reviews etc.

Lineage 2's cinematics totally owns them

  • thenedainthenedain Member Posts: 25

I've always loved Blizz's cinemas.  For the longest time, they've set the standard for dynamic cinemas.  They've always had fantastic graphics, awesome music and have been able to tell a story.  While the WoW cinemas have all be great, the bar was set back during Warcraft 3 / Frozen Throne and DIablo 2.  They still hold up today as being not just great, but pinnacles of what you can accomplish with a cinema.  They're not just great trailers/cutscenes, they really are works of art.

That being said, the Warhammer Online trailer is the first MMO trailer that made me make the final decision to purchase.  In my mind, a trailer should be a peek into the final product.  WAR's trailer was polished to a fine sheen, had a great sense of story and pacing which I hope will translate into the game's quests and showed off many of the game's classes doing what players should be able to do with them.  Plus, as a longtime Warhammer fan and a devoted follower of Tzeentch, it was completely and utterly awesome to see a Lord of Change finally in a video game.  My inner fanboy cried out in joy and surrendered it's wallet.

Actually, my two favorite trailers for upcoming games right now are both Warhammer games.  The Dawn of War 2 trailer kicked so much butt that I'm still ticked off it won't be released 'til around March.  At least WAR comes out sooner.  Heck, even the trailer for Blood Bowl looks fun as hell.  Score 3 for Games Workshop.

Quick edit: on the point of a cinema showing off various classes and what a player should be able to do with them, I'm still ticked off that none of my Taurens in WoW can use a Tauren Totem while the Tauren in the cinema uses one.  -1 point for Blizzard.

I like them both. I'm just a sucker for that kind of cinema. I would stand in line in the rain to see a feature length film like those 2.

I'm not a WoW fan but I've always loved their trailers, cool stuff.  And the War one just kicks a.. So I refuse to decide, I want more of both.
