Where did the persistant world go...

This is the same as  AoC (warhammer is) its not big its confined and A to B to C... I wont buy it. I want sand box, not possible console products. Smells like, looks like...I call it s**t.  Its totally linear there isnt a world just lvls... it sucks in 2008. For real mmos.

WAR is not fully instanced like AoC... it is a full persistant world.

Get your facts straight or get out.

I get where your coming from it does feel like there is a set path that you go down...not to great for immersion why can't we get an open world like mass effect even yeah it  has loading screens but what I am saying is you are free to go where you want when you want ya know like a massive world to level in.

The only instances they have are in the capital cities, aren't they?....

Sandbox games typically don't do well. They are harder to get into and usually reward you less. Go play EVE Online, I think you'll like it.

  • SlampigSlampig Member UncommonPosts: 2,342

Pretty sure the majority of people knew it wasn't sandbox pretty shortly after it was announced.

See no need for this thread....Tater.

Thats what  EQ AO DaoC  AC where, but now we're heading down this trail of ... A B C ....War is as bad if not worse than AoC. I want a world....to much consoles not enough expanding....WoW is big cause its big...making something smaller and faster is great for NASA but not good for MMOs  (guild wars, hellgate AoC and now Warhammer)... Im really sad about this.

Although I understand your point (I'd rather have a big world with lots of choices as well), I don't see why it immediately is as bad as AoC......Kinda makes your message void.

Appearently sand box and open persistant world are now 1 and the same. /cry.  It will not fly....people want MMO, and WoW is MMO (not my Ideal MMO) but much more than the latest crap.

I would reccomend AOC for you as there are plenty of zones in the game with the persistant world feeling.

First, saying WAR is like AoC when it comes to instancing is retarted at best. . Dont like instancing? Thats fine. The instancing in WAR is no better or worse than WoW but definitly isnt as bad as AoC.

Secondly any moron can spend 5 min look at the basic game info on the main website and see the game is in no way intended to be a sandbox. Good job on the troll post though. At least you picked a topic thats hasnt been beaten to death AS much as say the graphics.

EQ to my knowledge has always been bigger than WoW. And the big reason that games are made the way they are is to try and encompass as many playstyles as possible. A lot of us veteran gamers dont have the luxury of spending 10 to 12 hours a day playing anymore. Im kinda glad people with lives are kept in mind when developing games.

Because They are the same game, and will have the exact same problems. Just done differently... IMHO AoC is better, its more free. Warhammer is like that movie ground hod day.....its not epic its you and ur morons vs the other morons for the what....what happens @ 40 and why cant I get back to that place I was @ 10. Its DaoC and guild wars... without a world.

    Mass effect?

A single player where you have a pretty short main storyline,  Levels and Loading all the time?

Free to go where you want? What are talking about, you are free to go where you want in Warhammer and many others MMOs, in Mass Effect you follow an story with just a couple of paths... really, you dont know what you are talking.

    ...

You can go back to Tier 1 when you are 40 (on Core), what are you talking about?

I think you are playing the wrong game my friend. I lvl from rank 1 to 10 without zoning. Only time I ever truly zoned was when I hit the RvR battlegrounds. All the other RvR are persistant.

I didn't see linear whatsoever. I guess if you PvE all the time, then I see the traditional quest lvl progression but I really think you didnt try to play this game.  There are so many facets of different ways to lvl and there are different lvls all together in its own right.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

you lvled in your pre built zone and were led from  A to B to C... but there wasnt a world it was just your zone you could not run across to the other side and once you hit lvl 10, you went onto the next zone.

First off you can go back to tier1 at level 10. OOOh you mean why cant you go back to tier1 RvR and gank people 30 levels lower than you? Go back to AoC if you wanna gank low levels. I would say go play WoW but the open world PvP there is a freaking joke. If you are talking about going back to tier1 at 40 to do things you may have missed. You can so your argument is invalid.

AoC is more free?! hehe not even going to touch that one. I simply cant find the logic in that.

What happens at 40? Its about the RvR and being able to sac your enemies city. Like WoW is about the gear grind through raiding or PvP. Like AoC is about ganking lower levels or finding one dungeon thats not bugged to hell. Like EQ is about killing that one boss mob over and over for more gear. Point is every game out there has some point to the max level. The only 2 I can think of is possibly EvE and AC. EvE because it really is a true sandbox and AC has an ever evolving storyline. Much more frequent than any other MMO except for maybe LOTRO.

You keep saying lvl 10...which proves you have never played the game. Tier 1 is lvl 1-11, not 1-10, and you don't move to the next tier until 12. Also, with Warcamps you can fly to any tier 1 for your faction and go and quest there if you do not want to quest in your zone...so it's not really forced a-b-c...you can go 1a-1b-2c-2a-ect.... in whatever fashion you want if you really want to.

You do not even have to PvE whatsoever to lvl in this game, especially in the choas zone where even in beta there is non-stop action in the Open-RvR pool (which is not instanced)

It is just so obvious you have no idea what you are talking about, it's pretty sad.

War is gear based 60 (skill) 40 (gear is bs) , secondly its not a world its a lvl progression game with an endgame similar to fury or GW. Its not an MMo....maybe Im old but I believe that big worlds are good and if lotro had have releases with pvp we would be having a different discusion....

  • CamisadoCamisado Member Posts: 98

Wow just became a sand box by the last 2 years of mmo releases....Potbs war aoc tabula....ya see anything closer to sand box than wow... do you see anything that has a persistent world.....the rest of the developers are going backwards and wows copycat grind fest and pvp remais strong.
