Funcom have 1500 armor unique armor sets in the game.
Level 10/12/14/16.... 76/78/80 Tanned Whatever = 35 sets
Level 10/12/14/16.... 76/78/80 Plate Whatever = 35 sets
Level 10/12/14/16.... 76/78/80 Ymirish Whatever = 35 sets
Level 10/12/14/16.... 76/78/80 Pictish Whatever = 35 sets
and so on.
Thats how they came up with the number. What makes a set unique is not the looks but the NUMBERS on the parts. A level 26 set that looks just like a lvl 46 set are two different armorsets.
If im wrong Famine please correct me.

that was one (of many) bad things about the game that I had experienced. Also, the stats on the armor didnt make a lick of sense. lol, ah funcom. What happened. >sigh<
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
If I had to guess, I'd suspect that it might have something to do with the fact that they ported over so much (all?) of the Anarchy Online engine. I know that many things still showed AO tooltip info (lol QA testing), for one thing.
Having done that, it appears they tried to itemize to make the differences in the Conan system fit the AO engine, using itemization as the missing link.
Like I say, this is guessing as to one reason armor stats/itemization/etc. is so out of whack in AoC.
I really dont understand much about engines, but it seems to me this could be at the root of many of their issues?
Ive read many times from those of you who are very experienced in this, and it seems to be a common thread, the old engine, revamped, but still with many old componets and faults.
If thats the case, or a large portion, whats the most they could possibly do with it ?
Yep that's also one of the reasons I left the game.
My dark templar was using the same looking armor for 30 or 40 levels (from lvl 20 to lvl 58 when I left), only the color changed (from silver to rusted to gold). Even the crafted armor was the same. Ridiculous.
1500 armor sets. LOL. What a bullshit.
At least somewhere arount level 30 (?) there was a cool looking Vanir set (only dropping from mobs). But thats it.
Yup true story, he plays hookey here. He comes across as a Jehovah's Witness going door to door trying to get converts. Lotta doors slam in his face here.

My grandma is with the Jehovah's Witnesses (this part is true ), and she told me to say the Witnesses are insulted of being compared with Famine and in responce they're launching a wardrobe of 50 different clothing sets with their new Bible, which as it happens will be more different sets than AOC's 1500 sets, by a factor of 600.
