The chat fixes and upgrades are coming soon. Mythic watches the Warhammer Allience forums it seems.

More than a week ago I said they would change the general chat option after 4 or 5 weeks.
The reason is as simple as they don't want to have official War forums.
Everybody would scream in the general chat: Oh WTF is this, it is much better in my MMO.
Within 2 weeks they hope that the initial MMORPG jumpers will have left the game and so can be sure they won't pollute the general chat just like it happend in TR, AoC etc...
To me it is just proof that they are afraid.
A good product doesn't need to be "protected" with unofficial forums and mute in game systems for its players.

On the forum side you might be right or they might just be to cheap to pay for a forum.
Closed beta had a general chat interface ? In fact the general chat is there, they just left out the interface.
Cost of a forum ??? Less than ingame GM...
put the tinfoil down and step away from the conspiracy theory. those people would leave anyway, and post bitching on mmorpg and wha on the way out (see the "lob chopa is overpowered", "i dont like this title i earned", "i dont like pvp" and "this game has levels" threads on this forum for examples).
howabout they thought that chapter chat would be a better idea than zone chat? they were wrong, but nobody is perfect, you dont need to dream up this machavalian scheme to describe what you can attribute to a fuckup.

I didn't think about the general chat being crappy intentionally, but you could be right. I certainly agree with you about why there aren't any official forums.

Mythic may have big funding but they are still a small ocmpany with only 2.5 games under their belt. They kow they can't handle a forum, unlike Funcom. They also kow there are fanboys ot there who will run a proffesinal forum for them for free.
So why waste the resorces and the chance for bad press everytime your moderators shut down a post when someoe else can do it?
Without a main forum most of the whiners have to flood sites like MMORPG.com to complain and the average gamer will not see a word of it as they play and enjoy their time.
The ingame chat system somewhat mirrors DAOC. It worked in that game but not in this game. Yo need a big chat room to help people get together in a casual MMO like this.

They best eliminate Gold spamming in chat channels or that's going to be the majority of the action in those channels.
Do NOT allow item linking in chat channels either or Mr. Fxjadfadgjjj will spam every Blue armor piece in the game all day and night.
lets hope someone 'enlighted' in there gets an Operations channel working for each side to ease the keep sieging and battling coordination allowing it to work with ppl not in a warband etc.
