It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
How hard would it be, or maybe it wouldnt be cost efficient , but the idea is, that companies could make a game and sell 2 different coppies, if you buy (copy A) then you play on these servers with low end graphics, if you buy (copy then you play on these servers with the higher end graphics. This would allow for just about everyone who wants to play to have a chance to play .. and no one can get mad that they waisted their money because their machine cant handle the game etc.
just a thought, if it ment millions more play your game, would it not be feasible ?

Just a technical issue with your post.
Which server you connect to would have no effect on what quality graphics are shown on a client computer. Servers don't care what quality of graphics show up on your client computer. They are entirely involved in the number crunching hidden behind those graphics and have no input on what you graphically see.
Graphics quality for online game is determined entirely by client side computing.
thanks, didnt know that, so in this sence, would that make it more feasible to do, since it wouldnt take different servers for the different players using different graphics ?
Feasibility is the capability of something being done or carried out. But that is all it is. What is capable of being done. What you are asking for is feasible until you bring money into it. That is ultimately what decides whether something will be done. The potential for profit, pure and simple, decides what gets done for most companies.
The best you can hope for is what is already being done. Most games made today have the ability to tone down the graphics quality. Computer hardware is under constant change. This will eventually cause older hardware to become obsolete. This is also seen in all areas. It just doesn't happen has fast as with computers.
