Global Agenda better be free

Davy_JonesDavy_Jones Member Posts: 12

I hope Global Agenda is going to be free, I don't join MMO's that you have to pay for, if I do it has to be under $14.99 per month.

it won't be free, it will be mothly subscription.  but it will definatly be under 14.99 a month.

they are say they are going for the standard subsciption model. don't understand why people always seem to assume games wont.

I hope HiRez does some market research on this one.  MMO subscription prices need some variety.  I know I'd definitely pay $10 or less for this game, but doubt I'd pay more.  How many more people who pick this title up if they monthly subscription was just $4-5 less?

MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan

I really don't see a prob with 14.99 a month, it's a standard price for most MMO's, unless the game is total trash, I don't mind paying that much monthly.  You better hope it's not free, else you'll end up with cash shops where you have to pay twice as much than a standard monthly payment just to compete monthly.

so your basically saying you want it to be f2p so you can get a free ride?

That's a good question... I suspect however that most companies are going to follow the 'goin rate'.  The assumption is probably that most people can afford an extra $4-$5 per month (the price of one fast food meal), whereas dropping the price by that much is a 33% decrease in profit margin per subscriber.

You won't be playing GA then, thanks for coming, have a nice day.

P2P is the future of online gaming, if you are really that ignorant to believe any different, then you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. Face it now, because it is not going to change as time progresses.

i, for one, don't mind paying for a game, but there are a few reasons i haven't payed for an MMO yet.

    1. for me, it's a bit of a bother to pay for it. It's not the price, but the product itself. I live in a small town in the netherlands, and the nearest store to buy timecards is half an hour away. We don''t have a creditcard, and my parents (im 16) think paypal is too much of a bother. the only option is to buy timecards on a dutch website, but it costs extra to have them delivered.

    2. there are only a few games that really cought my interest, and managed to keep me interested. The only games that have managed to do that so far where LOTRO and The Chronicles of Spellborn. With some games i got bored before i even finished the trial period. That doesn't encourage me to buy the game

    3. the general idea of having to pay for something every month. I don't mind paying a lot for an online game (like a lifetime membership) but i just don't like to idea of having to pay for it again and again, no matter how good it is. ofcourse, im going to have to pay each month if i wan't to play games that are actually fun, instead of yet another asian grindfest.

yeah once a month going 30min away from home to get a timecard.. sounds like a huge hassle to me

Better be free. the only thing persistant about G.A. is about 50 steps. Its smaller then a starting station where your on foot in spacecowboy. then  its 10v10 arena and 4v4 arenas etc. Thats it.

I got this from a leak from alpha.

What the hell is mmorpg.com doing hosting this game...

Awww..frak are you kidding.  This will not have the potential of massive battles like we saw in Planetside?   10vs10 is nothing.  They should at a minimum be shooting for 64vs64 like we see in BF2.  Anything less and it just be lame.  Seriously....bring on the massive battles like we saw in Planetside!  That is what we need.  A newer version of Planetside, but with deeper game play and a more dynamic game verse.

Well, in most cases free to play = bad support. And I mean in 'most cases'. I'm sure there are exeptions? But in order to be succesfull, I really do hope GA has a monthly subscription as a quarantee for some sort of customer service and support.

It is a great looking game and we don't want it to pull out the Tabula Rasa card.

I hate to say it but this game looks just like the Resistance 2 co-op game play. I'm sure might have a bit more to it but I can't see it worth paying monthly for something ps3 owners can pretty much do for the price of the game.

really now...  picture this if you would.

If you were a game developer where do you start building a game like this? You would start at balancing the core of the gameplay which is third person tactical combat. So naturally this is what is being tested right now in alpha. Once the core is in place in its most basic form to check the balance of the classes, gear, loadout, and skills then they can start working on the cities and other mmo aspects.

I can't even begin to see your reasoning for thinking that this is not a persistent world. instancing is inevitable to prevent mass zergs fests which are not fun and does not prove skill over groups of players. This game is very tactical, and has been stated it would be. Your traditional views on a fatasy persistent world is false and does  not relate to this game. Lets look at the things they did not implement into this that is consistent with traditional mmos today:

    -the grind

    -travel

-many seperate servers in some cases hundreds that makes traditional games not a single universe(wow, warhammer, daoc, lotr,  everquest, ect.)

    -ganking

to me this is a very good trade off. This mmo is not for everyone and for people that just want to be a blimp of an existence on a server among hundreds, this game is not for you.

so your alpha test leaker obviously has not been informed on what he is actually doing.

please look at some of the Q/As before you state such things. you are trying to sum up a completly diferent game into another and it doesn't work like that sorry.

Since Global Agenda games are on a small arena, 10 or 20 players is just right.  You rarelly need more on a Quake3 or Unreal 2003 game.

GA is not a newer version of PS,  is a different game, tryiing something different, and not on the scale of PS, not even on the scale of BF2.   Is a infantry game, not a vehicles game, if that helps you.

Without breaking my NDA I can say that there are a lot of features here that you will not find in a standard FPS and are more in the spirit of a massive multiplayer online game. I think that once you have played you'll realize why it is worth paying monthly.

  • LivettLivett Member Posts: 126

I'm glad it will be a monthly fee.

  • rhadamant518rhadamant518 Member Posts: 18

Most people wouldn't say they are glad that it is a monthly fee, however I am glad too. It will allow them to develop the story line and put more features in than if they didn't have a monthly fee.

I cannot wait for the real content to be coming out!

  • Zypher04Zypher04 Member Posts: 5

I would hope given the game has to pay liscensing fees for the Unreal 3 engine, along with fee's to keep their severs up and running that there is some fee. This will also, as Rhadamant said allow them to produce new content as time goes on.

It's not just the future. It's also the past and present. I don't know where the freetards get their logic that every game is going to be free because cash shop is the best thing ever!

I'd rather pay for GA and help it be a great game that develops well over time, rather than expect a freebie and watch it decline as tens of thousands of people join and bog the servers down, with no hope of remedy due to lack of any $$$ inflow. If it's a good game it's worth paying for.

if you carebears want to play free mmo's then go to the awful korean sites with pixies and fairy charatcers. i would pay $20 a month for this game. stop being lazy get a job or just bill it to your parents home phone. the world is ending in 2012 anyway.
