nice job at editing the list...I went to the site and you forgot to mention this "PC sales charts for the week are in. The NPD ones are all messed up, courtesy of Black Friday sales on older titles. And the other two aren't so normal themselves." Also "NPD Sales Charts November 23-29" list this is via sales for direct download..This doesn't mean thats where it is in the sales charts...nice try though..I don't know where you got the others from, but I do know the bottom list is exactly the same as on this site...http://kotaku.com/5107069/pc-sales-charts

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

They are all from Kotaku, the same list weekly, could you be a bit more specific on what I *edited* according to you? Check Kotaku, these are their lists.

Rofl, the 23 november one Kotaku got the charts from the site  "Big-Download". That's the sites name, not a sign that they are Direct download ... xD the charts for DD are below it 2 charts down.

I didn't edit a thing and if you think I did please point that out more clearly in what way. This is just a list of the charts known since the October month results.

Whats the point? that an established game with  5.5 million NA/Euro subs actually sold more units once it released then a new mmo trying to break into the market?

WoW is like a money train, I expect them to sell five times more copies of Wotlk before the next expansion.

Seriously what blizzard has done with WoW is amazing. They released a game that attracts Console, FpS and non-mmo players added with thier millions of fans of diablo and SC/WC Rts.

All these sales numbers don't really mean anything. I can still log into WAR and play on a full server and kick the shit out of Order. I can still log into Eve and pvp 24/7 with thousands of players on 1 server.

All these figures that tells me how many subs a game has and how many units a game sells are worthless since I've never logged into WoW and seen a wow server have as many players as Eve on at a time. And last I checked WoW and WAR s full server status is similar.

Have a good day pushing sales numbers at people, Shouldn't you actually be playing WoW atm?

Whats next stock charts? sub listings? can you post anything that tells me WoW is a superior game? nahh you cant cause its all opinion really.

Hell if we go by sales and subs asian F2p games have like 20 million people playing them (they are nuts) are those games better than WoW? hell no!

The *point* of the chart? Informational purpose? It's a discussion forum, here's some actual real info to base discussion on instead of just conjecture that we usually see. Do with it what you will, derive from it what you will etc, I don't care. These are just to give more information.

If you *need* a point, I personally brought them up in the other thread about AOC/WAR/LOTRO "doing in" WoW to give some actual facts behind how true that is. Afterwards however I thought having the charts more visible would A) be interesting for people to read for a change and B) could inform the people who make threads like the aforementioned to realise they might be making a fool of themselves :)

    image

  • AngorimAngorim Member Posts: 466

What exactly was the point of this thread again?  I think everyone that reads these forums knows two things; 1) WoW will sell more copies than any other new release titles and 2) You really love to promote the game in any way possible as if it's the holy grail.  Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a post where Pheace points out a negative aspect about the game and this post just feels "mocking" as if we didn't know it would be popular?

And before you jump on for "bashing" I spent just shy of 4 years in the game and enjoyed majority of the time I spent there, but in no way did I ever praise the game (or any game for that matter) for irrelavent points that have NOTHING to do with the game or gameplay.  Ignoring points both positive and negative about a game does not help your argument nor promote the game fairly.

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

I'd like for you both to go through the forums here and point out threads that *have a point*. It's a discussion forums. People discuss sales numbers/subs all the time, most of the time unsupported conjecture. I didn't draw any conclusions from the charts neither good nor bad. I just posted them as info. I'm sorry you tinfoiled people seem to feel there's some hidden message in there. (hint: Try to read all the letters, not just the ones you want to see).

I've already clearly said why they got brought up in the first place. Read the WAR/AOC/LOTRO thread and see that bringing them up was with a clear intent of disproving the OP's statement. That said, it doesn't mean everyone will see it there so I posted a simple thread showing the charts which people wouldn't miss.

Now please, if you have such a problem with seeing a few charts, don't read the thread. How hard was that?

First of all, if you're honestly sitting there and defending your position of no alterior motive behind the post, then I have to direct you the part where you highlighted points you thought relavent (which I might add are all the next most popular games behind WoW).  If you were simply posting to show the chart numbers, you would have merely done the link and posted what it was about but instead you decided to link it straight from the website and highlight those particular parts.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Omg, I highlighted the MMO's! I must have an alterior motive! .... are you listening to yourself? This is a MMO game if you hadn't noticed. I don't hear you asking why I didn't just put up the Overall games sales charts instead of just the PC games sale charts. I mean, they're all games right?

I love how sarcastic you turn when confronted with any sort of opposition, I guess that's your crutch defense mechanism.  I really should have read your quote before attempting to rationally converse with you, makes a lot more sense now.

Yeah i didn't think you'd come up with an actual argument after that last post of mine, better to just try and mock how someone spoke to you than discredit them with arguments.

I guess you want to turn this into a "one up" competition to prove that you can win a forum argument?  Ok, if you want to play that game.  You ignored my original statement that I have yet to ever see you point out anything negative about the game in general but you will be the first one to ram negativity down ANYONES throat who says they're enjoying Warhammer.  Secondly in response to your little sarcastic listing of all games, you're right, this is an MMO site specifically targetting MMOs.  Why exactly did you post this in the WoW forums if you were highlighting all MMOs?  Think it would be better suited in the pub forums, but then again you have no alterior motives so that must have been an "oversight" on your part!

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

I posted it in the WoW forums because I originally posted it here. Are you reading this at all? Check the other thread where I originally posted it. (actually I originally posted it in the VN Warhammer forums, the thread someone started on NPD charts, feel free to look it up)

I don't post it everywhere here on the forums because with these results half the forums here have little to do with the chart and if they do they won't like the result anyway and get annoyed. So yeah, I actually don't feel like trolling the WAR forums here by creating threads with info they don't want to see anyway. That's why about the only threads I have created on the WAR forums are informational threads with new info MJ just posted on the VN forums.

Also, the only reason I started talking on the WoW forums here to begin with was because some of the people here (greyhoof mostly lol) were just full of it and posting nonsense. If you feel i post nothing but negativity, that may be true, but it's always based in some truth rather than the people I dispute with.

Also, when am I supposed to be negative about WoW? I 'll easily admit to flaws in WoW, just not the nonsense half the people post. I've always admitted WAR has better RvR, although I think Daoc did it better and I think the combat itself(fluency etc) is better in WoW than WAR for instance.

Twinks are bad, raiding was bad but has been made much more accessible. Game design wise I would have hoped to see more war between the two sides.

There's plenty of things one can not like to mention, however even when I mention things about WAR it's based on a consensus from people on the forums I read or facts posted. So good luck with trying to get your "he's so bad" vibe on me ;)

If you find something which is wrong or not true with what I'm saying be sure to point it out, although you won't often find it.

I'm proud of you Pheace.  That was the first post in a long time that I've seen a generally positive spin with less sarcasm and overall unbiased posting.  I may have gone a little over board, but sometimes your posts are just so damn demeaning (as with Greyhooff although far less coherent and less sense).

  • RecantRecant Member UncommonPosts: 1,586

Why are people questioning the OP motives?  "Motives?"  Get a grip!  The information he provided is relevant and without any commentary or conjecture, there is no opinion or point to be made, it is simply informational, relevant and appears to be accurate.

It seems that some posters have a switch in their head set to 'argue' by default.  Not seeing their favourite game on that list sends them in the froth-at-mouth frenzy perhaps?  Relax, it's just information.

I suggest those arguing with the OP cut down on the caffiene, or have motives of their own.... :p

You guys have me at it now.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

I have to agree with Angorim he makes a good point..Why did you feel the need to highlight WOW, EQ2 and WAR other than to say hey EQ2 and WAR lovers WOW is kicking your teeth in when it comes to sales..... Honestly I just don't believe in Pie Charts, Bar Charts, Sales Charts...

If im in the business to make money I wouldn't tell you "here check out this chart we sell 50,000 copies less than our competitors, but you should still buy our product" lol nobody in the business of making money will dog thier business to get you to do business with them.....

I think WOW, EQ2, Lotr, etc etc all fudge their sales numbers and their sub numbers to attract you to their game...its all about business, its like politics in the gaming world and their is no such thing as honest person in the business world...otherwise you won't last very long.

WTF?  Maybe because...................................they are MMORPGS ~ and this is a ........................ MMORPG forum.............Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuuuun!

A quick glance at the list reveals that the non highlighted ones are not MMORPGs, from what I saw.

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

As said above, i picked out the MMOrpgs, for the same reason I picked a PC games chart and not an overall games chart which includes Wii, Xbox etc, because they are more relevant.

The OP just posted up some sales charts and highlighted the MMORPGs. Yet some people feel the need to turn this into an argument. Simply pathetic.

  • jimmyman99jimmyman99 Member UncommonPosts: 3,221

OP posted some PC games sales statistics and highlighted MMORPGs. It just happened that WoW was dominating those charts. So only WoW haters would have a clear reason to react to this in such a violent way.

I dont play EQ2 (i do not love or hate it), but it got on the chart. Im happy for them. Clearly its a good product since people buy it. Why would anyone post negative posts about simple statistics?

whats the point of statistics? Its statistics.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

I hope the OP also posts the december sales btw. Because ...

The biggest distrubution chain FNAC in Antwerp-Belgium (2 shops) were completely sold out as of Sat 13th of any Wow product (Wow, Battlechest, TBC and WotLK). Only pre paid sub cards were available. New delivery date wasn't known. I hope this is not the case in other parts of Europe (Fnac is an original French chain), but I hope Blizzard did not underestimate the EU market.

So I lent my DVD's to my nephew and gave him a 10 days trial key. But running out of stock 10 days before Christmas is NOT good. Basic Wow at 15 Euro is a great gift for Christmas but the product has to be available in the first place.

The fact that amazon.com doens't give any reductions on WotLK in the US  could show the stocks there aren't big either.
