This should be a short thread. Since I am not playing EQ2 at the moment (been awhile):
Is station cash a way to add currency to your in-game toon, or does it only apply to certain items?
Isn't this going to inflate the in-game economy if the above is true?
And last, like the Linden, or whatever the Project Entropia currency is called, is it transferable?
I did check the website, and details seems to be buried a bit (like most SOE customer service documents).

it does not add money or in game coin, it only adds some crappy potions, decorations, and other such fluff
Thanks.
Then why is everyone so angry about fluff?

cause it's SOE, anything to fuel their hatred over a game changed 3+ years ago are just reaching at straws now because they are bored.
and before anyone says it aint fluff, yes i am a paying sub, yes i looked at the items on the station shop thing, and no not 1 is worth me spending a penny on.
At the moment, the only thing being sold that concerns people are the experience potions. Strictly speaking, it is unfair (if "fair" applies to an MMO), although to me it is not a game-breaker.
What all the hoopla is about, it seems to me, is the fact that SOE has proven in the past that they will state one thing while doing (or planning to do) something different. Many, even their own customers, find them untrustworthy.
Okay agreed. I am sort of glad it wasn't as far reaching as my questions, but of course. never trust Smed. I learned that a few years ago (what, three years now?).
God, I miss Ralph Koster in proper MMO Space.

Fair answer. Thanks to the above for clearing this up.

I am going to go out on a limb and make a prediction. Within the next 3 months you will be able to purchase non-fluff type items for station cash. I am guessing at the very least, you will be able to purchase mounts.
Darkfall
and if it becomes the point where non fluff items are being sold, i will cancel my account.
Its not for anything like that. Its just stupid useless items and items that give the occasional boost to things like xp. *shrugs* Worthless except for mild entertainment.
Something that I haven't seen is anyone mentioning vitality. There are two kinds of vitality - adventuring and tradeskilling, and this is accrues when you're not killing or crafting, and at an increased rate when you're offline.
Vitality gives you 100% xp bonus. There are also plenty of vet rewards that give you up to 55% xp bonus. So many, in fact, that you'll hit cap before you run out (yes I did test this and got as far as the 2 year rewards - tradeskilling is a different matter though. lol)
Buying a potion that gives you (up to) 50% bonus seems rather inconsequential, don't you think?
Currently, the things available from the Marketplace are little more than fluff. They give you no advantage over any other player, unless you're actively taking part in a race to hit level cap. Admittedly, this could change in the future, but that's the same future that could see EQ2 close down in January, or a jet engine fall on my head when I walk my dog. It's really not worth worrying about
I disagree with the non-fluff items I do not think that will ever happen. However I would also not be suprised to see mounts in the cash shop. I might even buy one if they did. Why would I do that? Well I am a ranger and with the lines I took for him he runs faster then any mount and run ability is transfered to my mount. So for my main toon a new mount is only cosmetic. The fastest mounts ingame are slower then my main toon so I get no benefit but have to pay the high price for the speed that is useless for me. Mounts for my main are cosmetic. So, depending on the look of a mount that might be offered, I would consider buying one depending on price. It might be cheaper to buy then the time it takes to earn the plat for a top mount that I get no real benefit from. I know someone will mention the buff you get from higher mounts but that is insignificant and you really buy for speed and looks.
I have not even looked at what they offer at this point but i too might be interested in a mount if offered. For other reasons than speed...i just like mounts If one is offered that i just have to have and it is not obtainable by quest...i just may be tempted. Now there i go encouraging SOE lol.
I've read that you can now buy potions in the game that increase your foot-speed dramaticly.
While us casual and PVE players are pretty much unaffected, they just tossed a monkey-wrench in the tactics of some of the PVP players with that release. That is a game-altering (for some) addition that is purchasable with real money.
It will indeed be interesting, in three months, to see where this leads.
Hope it will help
