beautiful screens, but looking at the skin of the people they just look funny, and i really do hope this game plays as good as it looks. I just hope that its not another lineage 2

Like the previous posts, some of the screens shots are older and have been improved since they were taken. Not only that, this is only the beta settings and still could be improved for retail.  I have high hopes for this game, and with all the features listed on their site, graphics are the last thing on my mind (and I absolutely love playing games with rich textures and realistic settings).

i had my hopes up high for 3 games D&D VANGAURD and DNL

so far DNL  has the others so badly outclassed that DNL is the  choice but  with one reservation where are the dungeons and  water travel

so sweet so closer  to being perfect  falling short  in the end

I know they said  at launch no dungeons but  other then that no comitment either  and no hard  promises that there ever will be dungeons either

pitty such a sweet thing  yet I await the arrival and  have my hopes up high for  dungeons to somhow be apart of this beatifully rendered masterpiece

I hope they come to their senses and make a hard comitment that dungeons will arrive  at a later date with a fixed dateline as well as a  comitment that it will be apart of the main game  and not an expansion

I cant stand it when you buy a game and they make you pay for umteen expansions before  you can play the game as it was intended to be played in the first place

Yeah... they have said all along no dungeons at release. I think its a very low priority since the World size is far greater than almost any other game.

One thing I can tell you, the Devs are toying with the concept of player created dungeons, since it is possible for players to "dig" in this game.

If this game is well stocked with players and does well, they will add, and add. But if it doesnt forget any improvement, the Devs cant afford to run this game if the players dont come, there is no large company supporting this project.. the Devs are taking most of the risk.

    plus side

the graphics are better then fine

game play makes vanguard look  like silly people

the  pvp promises to be unheard of since the days of the original UO

trades seem to be very promising

and finally  the character making and leveling  seem to be un par  or better then anything that has  come before

    minus side

it will luanch without sea travel and no  dungeons untill later as wel as no underwater exploring

all in all  it has  the most potential

up untill E3 i was undecided since vanguards E3 display it obvious that vangaurd is  making

a EQ2 type game that  is shaping up to be  so complicated and under designed that  I cant see anyone wanting to  play it  unless  the targeted player segment which is eq decides it 's time for another boring  monster  squating game

NPC seems to have done their homework  those other games  may  get the press coverage but that is all they've  got over on  this game

"and finally the character making and leveling seem to be un par or better then anything that has come before"

The only thing I'm worried about is the disturbing dev talk about soloing being a low lvl thing. I personally like the conventional model where people can solo the whole game if they choose to do so. It just seems like an important aspect of ingame freedom to me. Also im a whee bit confused about the absence of monsters from pics and movies. I know they are supposed to be less populous, but from the movies and pics i've seen Ganareth is going to need an endangered species list.

The game looks ok. But the screenshots would not make me go out and buy the game. From the screen shots that I have seen it looks like scale was not something that they put much thought into.

  • ScampyScampy Member Posts: 29

yeah, bigger is better? I'm not sure about that at all. Guess I'm not much of an explorer type gamer, so it could be a lot of fun for people who like walking a lot. Isn't it about what you can actually do in a game, not how long it takes you to get from A to B?

The shield surfing and skydive things they showed earlier promised a lot of fun tho, so jury's still out on this one :)

    spectacular

thanks for the glimpses into DNL BLACKSAC

    Scampy,

Well it is a little know fact that you you can have pets in this game, some of which, im told, can ride and go very fast, so getting across the game world should not be too bad.  One of these pets I have seen in screen shots is a Dragon.  Flying a dragon that is your pet Would be a good example of what you can do in the game, and travel at the same time.  Thats pretty cool in my opinion.

I cant see how an open beta would be needed. A spot in beta PERIOD is extremely coveted. HAVEYOUSEENTHEFREAKINGRAPHICS?

    yeah. i cant wait.

Nice screenshots. However, I'd be interested in seeing how effectively the engine steps down to render a large number of players, npcs, and effects all engaged in a melee.
