Darkfall: First Wave of Invites

Aventurine has announced that they have sent out the first round of invites to test Darkfall, as they promised would happen when they announced last week that the game would be delayed by one month. They also explained today's forum and website outages as "denial of service attacks."
This is an update about what is happening today:
We have sent out the first wave of invites to clans and individual testers. We will send more waves of invites within a few hours. Invited players will be able to download the Darkfall installer.
We are applying the latest patch, and players will be able to start patching soon, and entering the game.
We are spacing out the invites in order to facilitate the download of the client and patching. We will continue sending out more invites every day until we reach our capacity.
Since this first phase has to do with stress testing the servers, and doing final testing on features, we are not lifting the NDA until this testing is concluded.
We apologize for the problems with the forums and the website today, we have been experiencing denial of service attacks, and we are working to resolve them.

I wish this was verifible. NDA prohibits admitting you are in the beta. All the links to download are sent by email and not viewable to the public. They could just say they are handing out invites and no one would be the wiser.
This game is a joke. Darkfall is the next Dark and Light - no doubt. Only the gullable believe this crap.
Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.
that isnt very smary to say it ocudl release now and be better tha AOC and AOC was in better shape then dark and light was
Stop being so pessimistic! If they say they are sending out invites then they are.. what reason do they have to lie!? Plus there's nothing to stop people from saying "I have an email

and you notice how their website is down? I bet people that "did" get invites can't even download the client.. denial of service attacks? why would someone this day of all days attempt an attack?
Maybe they are just trying to buy themselves more time to stall? =P They should go as far to say that after the DOS attacks, that someone hacked into their servers and corupted the client and vital data, and which will then lead to a 6-12 month push back =P

I am sorry but I have to agree with this game being a joke. They have had no formal beta testing, the game has been in production for god knows how long, they have not had a real stress test, they are unknown in the MMO gaming world, they have put off launch (how many times?), I have not seen anything as far as US publishing, the lost financial backing and the found some again...the list really goes on. I wanted this to be a great game but at this point, I am not even going to waste my money.
Actually most of what you said in this quote has already been explained by Aventurine. Just read around and you'll find why most of that happened, instead of focusing on the fact that it happened.
Also, you are completely correct about there not being any US publishing. I won't lie and say that it isn't a little weird sounding, considering it's a huge player base, but they DID in fact give an explanation as to why. Also, you will still be able to play, even if you are located in America (that is, if you want to).
The only real problem I can think of about your post is the "formal beta testing". They were just doing that for the last two months, or am I mistaken?
There is no way to prove this even happened. Sure it is more smoke from Adventurine.
The real question is... When are the people that think it's a joke going to move on? I have my doubts about the game but if I came to a point where I needed to spend most of my time posting about what a joke this game is then who should be laughed at? Everyone that does it or DF? This response is for all the posts lately about
DF not just the OP. DF reminds me of the election way to much talking about it..
thats what these invites int he next few days are stress test until they each capacity that how many invites are going out probly around 30k

Why aren't there a bunch of people saying they are in? I haven't really been looking tbh but don't think Ive seen one person.
It is against the NDA to acknowledge you are in the beta. Which of course makes anything that we were told happened today completely unverifiable (barring leaks).
Is this the only MMORPG to not allow that?
AoC and WAR beta players were saying they were in it. Along with L2 and others.
i'll let everyone know that I did'nt get an invite. Gay...

awesome, i hear the bitboys video card is finally coming out so i can play it on that when im not spending too much time gaming on my phantom console. that is, until my duke nukem forever pre order finally hits my mailbox.

Do you pull these numbers out your ass for each post individually or have you written them down? If they are written down did you spill your liquid valium on it, only you seem to change it constantly.
The announcement, no matter how you may want to interpret it, says, 'nothing has changed, not a thing, see you on the 25th of feb, have a nice day'.

Well alright, at least if you ar all going to be so "glass half empty" then do it just by waiting... Wait and see what comes of the 25th of Feb and according to all of you, the day will come and you'll allllll be right. But until then, at least give them the benefit of the doubt, or stay quiet.
Oh there may have been others that didn't want you to acknowledge that you are beta testing .....but typically this close to release there is no point in keeping a cap on it when you need the amount of people to stress test. Leaks will happen. If we don't get leaks, guess there is nothing of substance to leak about!
Mate, been there, done that. Did you miss today or what? And on the 25th you or someone else will be back here saying 'just wait untill the 30th march'.
No way would they be able to keep loads of leaks under any circumstances so lets just see in the next few days how many more leaks we get.
The thing that gets me, when Tasos comes hits the forums to say 'you know those beta leaks that are releasing with the small world thing, they are all BS' I actually believe him, it's the only thing he says with any real conviction, he''s fully aware he didn't write it and therefore is a fake.
