Risk Your Life - What's it like?

Joxer_XJoxer_X Member UncommonPosts: 32

I saw the news about this game being in open beta www.ryl.net or www.planetwidegames.com

Just wondering if anyone has played it or knows someone who has and could give some info on it.  Their websites give very little info on it - ya also have to register just to read their forums other than the announcements

Before anyone says "download it and try it yourself", that's what I'm doing later tonight image

Well, I tried it and hated it.  Nearly a 2GB install (90 mins to download on cable), 15 min patch, and I selected the highest settings for everything as I have the nVidia Geforce 6800 Ultra card.

The graphics looked like EQ or DAoC when they first came out over 5 years ago..dull and blocky.  Everything was ran smoothly and I killed a few things, but I just couldn't get over the crap models

Guess I'm spoiled with Doom3 & Lineage 2 graphics image

Well, I played it when they gave away 2000 beta accounts awhile back. It was a terrible game back then, but I don't know what it's like now.

Very boring game. Combat may be fast and interesting but the game is extremely bland and repetitive.

I won the RYL beta contest and I played it until level 33. The combat and gameplay own, but the lack of skills is truly gay. Graphics could be better too. Overall it's a quick mmoRPG fix, but other than that It's not a game worth buying.

I recently downloaded and tried out this beta its sitting stagnant and installed right now but i might go back to it made it to a lvl 11 templar demon type...

One thing i actually liked about this game was the detail on the character models plus the uniqueness. The demons look like demons at least to me. The world i saw is pretty bland though and is reminiscent of the first zone in guildwars e3 for everyone event rocky empty desert with some crumbling buildings and stuff. There were a few cool light effects and stuff in the environment though i couldnt figure out what they represented. Id imagine the human side looks completely different but i havent bothered to try it yet.

There were quite a few quests for beginers but after that they get spaced out and the game slows down a lot even though at lvl 10 you get lots of goodies from 7 on its pretty grindy. The gameplay feels a lot like lineage 2 open beta and has a few of the same quirks... translation and english text not fitting in windows properly.

If this game could get more and better quests and fight the grind a bunch polish up the interface a touch... It might be able to at least compete with lineage 2 as the pvp is controlled ala daoc fighting in the "arena" demons vs humans.

My first reaction to this game was it flat out sucks and is more korean junk but i gave it a shot and although im not completely impressed i gotta admit with a few adjustments it could be pretty enjoyable, theres definitly a lot of potential here and a lot of people love this game decent community from what i saw on the demon side.

The download for the Us open beta is only 600megs or so so try it out for yourself and post your thoughts here.

Levels 7-10 is a grind but not that bad.  Its worse for the demons (Ak'kan) because they don't get any attribute points until their class change a level 10.   But at most it shouldn't take you more than 2 hours to hit lvl 10.  Which is where the game gets a lot better when you choose your class.

The demon maps are a bit bland.  But the human side is very colorful.  I don't have any gripes about the graphics.
