Cool video
The customization is what I have been looking forward to and what I want more info on. We should be able to tailor our ships to our liking and I think the universe is more realistic looking in BP than in JGE. We are due another gameplay trailer maybe we'll get one in Aug.

Trailers always look awesome. I can't form an opinion about something I haven't played, so this is all I have to say.
This trailer shows a lot of very nice things. I have seen mmo trailers since prehistoric ages and this one really impressed me. Facts:
* GFX engine very polished and next gen, I am getting tired of trying to gather low pc spec people. Go buy a new PC if you really want to pew-pew! We need technology in a space sim
* Superb concept: fast battles with 1st person view possibility. This inmerses a lot and creates the right atmosphere for playing. I think slow, 3rd person battles which gives adrenaline only for what you will loose if destroyed is a very poor excuse for "excitement". You can have a great adrenaline rush for playing actually, not for the fear of the defeat.
* UI really clean and intuitive. Something that is lately more and more difficult to find on mmorpg world. And we are seeing a beta footage, usually on beta devs tend to forget a bit the UI
* You can use a turret in a BIG ship!!!!!! damn since Planetside (where I enjoyed being the artillery on tanks) I was looking for something like that. I hope you can do it in PvP battles!!!. Even if it not actually "real", the concept is there which is enough for me right now.
* History line and clan bases are a great bonus. They show it in the preview also.
* Very nice ship customization, changing the model when you add/remove a module. It was another thing I was looking for in EVE and never comes... If I add a missile launcher, I actually would like to see it on the ship model, thats the point. So you can check an enemy ship and guess which weapons he carries.
Of course, all of this goodies have to be proven in the real game. But I am talking about the trailer, not the game, as is not released. Feel my post something like "I want to believe you will be able to do it"

None of this fact, it is all your assumption after watching a trailer.

Damn, those 200 vs 200 fleet fights weren't real? How about all those battles with Empire merc corps fighting to the death, I imagined them too? I seem to have lost a lot of ships to something in my imagination.
But regardless, BP might be a great game, but a trailer hardly is anything to base your hopes on. Its another indie game that's likely to be released half finished, buggy or maybe not at all.
Wait, that applies to most MMORPG's, no matter who makes them, nm.
But lets hope BP brings more fun gaming to the space genre, which is sorely lacking atm.

Well lets just hope Reakktor does a better job on BP than they did with Neocron.

I'm sorry I don't mean to bash EvE (Actually I do)
Eve combat isn't skill based. there is no point and click. You build your ship according to what is the FOTM for what you want to do with it. Lock onto an enemy and button mash. Sure there is a bit of skill in timing attacks and distance but there is no Dogfighting. And we BP hopefulls want Dogfighting in a an eve like atmosphere.
I was crushed to find out EvE has no dogfighting. I uninstalled it immediately.

There is so much more to EVE PVP than you realize, but since you uninstalled immediately you missed it.
Transversal velocity, signature radius, velocity relative to the enemy all play a big factor, and a good pilot can fly circles around a bad one.
Does the enemy have energy neutralizers, do you have jammers, who has a cloaked ship, is he within your optimal range (and are you within his?) and who decided to fit close range weapons while everyone else went for long range. (can make all the difference in a fight).
Is the enemy spider tanking, do you have an ECCM module to throw off jams, did you bring enough points to lock your enemy down and keep him slowed enough to actually hit him.
I'll agree, its less about dogfighting, and more like fighting a naval engagment in a fleet. However, that said, people definitely dogfight in Interceptors and there are quite a few combat techniques used to survive besides circle straffing.
No, its not going to have an aerial flight model like Wing Commander did, but they, those systems are totally unrealistic anyways, if space combat ever happens think of it more as ships skidding by each other, becasuse that will be the reality.

I guess I can understand how the tactics would add enough to it to make the game enjoyable and addicting. I played Starfleet command which has similar tactics for many years.
I grew up playing Wing Comander, Tie Figher, Tachyon, Terminus, Independence war....etc etc. I expected EvE to follow the genre without reading the forums and was dissapointed. Mabye from my own expectations.
But to me a Space sim without barrel rolls = fail. I simply got no other way to put it.
Sweet, it's like an MMO version of Naumachia: Space Warfare. Looking forward to both of these Indie releases. ^^

I really digged the gameplay trailer. I played EvE and X2/X3 games. Looking forward to BP.
Currently playing X3 : Reunion again and have been keeping an eye on Prophecy for a while now. It does indeed sound like an amazing game but i'm concerned over how it will turn out seeing as it's being released on the Free 2 Play / Cash Shop model.
