The end-game of TCoS

What is it? Raids? PvP? I heard something about Shard Wars being implemented some time in the future which sounds like a cool concept.

Played and enjoyed: EQ1, DAoC, WoW

Played and disliked: Guild Wars, WAR

Currently playing: Nothing

Waiting for: Mortal Online

At the moment there is no end-game content except perhaps finding the class trainers, crafting and free-style PvP.

Many things are planned for end-game content. The coming patch will have a PvP Arena competition. Shard conquest is planned but not for this year.

Sounds like they're using the Funcom strats.

All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.

    The game is dead.

to bad for you TcOS fans.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Right now it's more akin to Guild Wars, aka Arena fights.

Of course, since this is a $15 a month mmo, content updates will come. Mounts, dual wielding, housing, and shard wars are all in production as we speak.

I wouldn't say that. It has a small following, and the devs are still working full steam ahead. The developer is small, so they don't take much money to run the game. If you listen to the webinar you will find that the game is anything but dead.

It's in beta and it's dead?

    It hasn't even lived yet.

The No Endgame is going to bite them harder then they think.

So far they only added their first dungeon after EU release (somewhere in January), wich is still not completely fixed and has still issues and bugs. Check the EU forums.

So many great dungeons they were talking about during development are not in the game.

Nor is Arena PVP... or a PVP system in general in the game at all. Just some pointless skirmish fighting is all PVP that there is currently in the game.

Problem is that Spellborn NV is yet another (small indie) company that was forced to release their game prematurely.

The game is different, had a lot of promise, but the lack of content and the very slow pace they are adding it, won't keep people subscribed to the game very long.

    Cheers

At the end of this month theyre releasing patch 1.0.4, which has a proper ranked arena system and demon chest world pvp options, so thats something at least.

I hope they can add content to keep people busy, because right now theres not a whole lot to do. With the arena and demon chests there is at least some levels of competitiveness which will keep people busy, and I hope shard wars are in the patch after that. Going the heavy dungeon route doesnt seem like a good way to go, I think they should concentrate on emphasising house vs house stuff more than having repetitive grinds. Having world bosses would be a nice idea especially if they were unlocked for certain houses through competition.

As much as I feel that Spellborn is more about the journey than the destination, that's still no excuse for it lacking endgame content. I doubt it will "kill" the game as MMOs are very resilient providing the devs dont cock things up.

To be honest, for me, it is fine that there isn't much endgame yet.  I didn't pay $60 to start like most MMO's. I paid $15(well $20 but $10 next month). Just think of how much worse it could be. It could be like WAR or AoC where you pay $60 and a few months of subs before you realize the endgame isn't there or it is horrible.

They aren't charging for a finished game so I don't expect it.  The questing is decent, the PvP is fun so it is worth the $15. When I get to endgame and assuming I get bored then I will stop paying $15.  When they add new content I will re-up and play again...asuming SWTOR isn't out yet.

Most likely the end game of TCoS will focus on the House vs. house aspect, which is to be implemented around official release I believe.

With a game like spellborn its kind of hard to create an endgame. Raiding is obsolete because their is no gear that modifies stats..I guess it could be done for sigils, but you can only have so many of those equipped at a time.

Pvp or house vs. house would make sense, perhaps even designing keeps to battle over in designated areas.

The Citadel of Ail has no issues anymore. Exarchyon, the second one, has only one issue (one quest cannot be completed), but for the rest that dungeon is great fun.

They did release slightly premature, but as far as I know nobody forced them.

Perhaps. It depends on the type of players and how fast they devour the content. For some type of players no game ever did add content fast enough. Cannot be helped.
    Cheers

Next patch has arena play, which should be anough content to hold everyone over. Arena play in Spellborn is going to rock!

I love SB, but no I highly doubt that arena play alone will hold us over for 6 months for Shard Conquest or whatever.

But your right, it will be a great addition, and it will indeed 'rock' :)

I would say there is, for an average player, around 2 months of PvE content in the game right now. Pub games and the Arena will definitly add to this.

I guess my point is, why wait?

DL the free client, buy 2 months of sub, and enjoy it. Stop when you get to level 50 and then re-sub when they add more stuff.

Thats the beauty of the SB sales plan, you only pay to play for the time you want to play with no box cost etc. Me and the GF are looking, right now, at SB as more of a finite game that we will pick up again and again as they add 'expansions' (content).

We both love it, and will definitly come back once we are done with whats currently in as often as they have something new to sell us, but I doubt that this game will hold us unbroken for 4 years as EQ did.

SB is defitinely worth playing right now though, because in this game the journey IS the game, not something to timesink you until you get to 50 and start to have fun. This isnt AoC. In SB the whole game is enjoyable :)
