Zombies and more RMT loot for people to gamble for I heard.  At this point, I often wonder if the game is really a sick joke at the remaining players' expense, or maybe a marketting experiment to see how much money you can suck out of people by giving them crap and having them buy booster packs for a card game they may not even play.

So, from what I understand is; they have worked this horse to death and now it’s a zombie?

So how long do we have to wait for vampires and werewolves to be in SWG?

Well, you get that effect with the Annual  Galactic Moon Festival in October. I am sure that event will support the Zombie content which is to be released around that time.

Don't forget about the Ewok wings! A stunning accessory for any combat outfitted character.

    • Zombies
    • Bobble heads
    • Trading card game for unique items

They're milking it dryer than I thought possible.

Will you settle for an Energy Vampire?

Ladies and gentleman let's not pretend that Star Wars writers are doing anything other than write for $.  Let's not pretend that Lucas Arts will not do anything for $ or that George Lucas will not sell a part of star wars' soul for $.

Have you seen some of the starwars crap that has been peddled over the years?  It's way too late to be offended by the depth of their depravity.

Star Wars is to Lucus what women are to pimps - so don't be too offended when he puts his whore to work, especially when you're the John.

No matter how much that disgusts me... It is all true. :(

The idea bin is running on fumes since you can only do that Light side v Dark side so many times.

The bad thing with Star Wars being milked dry is that it really shouldn't happen.  It's one of those franchises that has a very rich background.  But the big problem at LFL is that they seem to lack imagination on anything outside the Force.

We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." SWG is nothing but a bad joke now. As much as I love zombie fliks and games, but to put it into the Star Wars Galaxies, this take the game to another level of idiocity.

I think SOE purposely wants to torture this game to where it does'nt even breath anymore.

I am one for putting the game out of its misery ASAP, at least let it die with some dignity, whatever is left in it.

I mean no disrespect to whomever is playing still, its just a shame that the game is what it is now.

A SICK and DISRESPECTFUL JOKE to the Star Wars Universe.

Still zombies? What about vampires? How about a werewolf wookie? You know, that works in reverse. Instead of getting hairy, it loses its fur and turns into a serial killer human. Hey I may be onto something here. Since Lucas is allowing practically anything to be written into his universe - getting the rights to have a Twilight meets Star Wars crossover should be a breeze.
And lastly, it comes to me as no surprise that this was SOE's idea.

next it will be superheroes. no need for a falcon now han solo flies through space with a cape!

    lol

im afraid that seems to be the future of SW in an effort to captivate a "broader" audience.

whilst soe is promoting this change, some of the latest sw books are littered with some very crazy stuff. problem is no one at lec seems to be interested (or knowledgeable) on where to draw the line. seems today everything is acceptable in a galaxy far, far away. if it doesn't exist, they just come up with a new planet or sector filled with creatures capable of all things imaginable.

It's a simple thing, really. SOE knows SWG is going bye bye after SWTOR releases, whether they want it to or not.

    It's not hard to see.

Ridiculous content being added. The new idiot community manager who has free reign to be an ass to customers and post pretty much whatever he wants. There's more than enough recent signs which started occurring AFTER SWTOR was officially announced which pretty much show SOE is in a "who gives a fuck, we're gonna lose the game either way" mode now.

Zombies in SWG... I am paying for that. But I would love to see a Video of the SWG Zombies dancing to Micheal Jackson's Thriller. Please post the Youtube video here when it occurs.

I really think the decision makers are just out of touch with what fans would enjoy and with what would make a successful StarWars MMO.

If you look at the history of the game, I think some of the worst ideas were expected to bring about its salvation: holocrons, level system, jedi as starting profession, reducing the number of professions, removing the skill system, removing pets to allow for a targetting reticule, complete game revamp right after an expansion, crappy new UI, loot drops replacing crafting,  trading card game,  FPS style combat...now zombies.

Most of the creative talent seems to have gone elsewhere, leaving the game in the hands of Smed, his yes-men, and perhaps a few unlucky interns.

If they do place vampires in swg they should look like smed's and when they attack all you lose is a number of credits. lol

It's a little to late for vampires in SWG , first off, its run by the bloodsuckers at SOE and Secondly since the NGE, the game sucks.

Truly, SWG is an excercise in 'how far can we push our customers?', and the addition of Zombies is no exception.

That's ALWAYS been the problem with SWG. They were more interested in the players they DIDN'T have that they forgot about the ones they did have.

What's interesting and sad is, when they reach their target audience, they change focus again, and alienate yet another group of people.  They get a few more subs (but lose more of the old players), then change focus AGAIN.  They then piss off the group of people they just got, leave remnants from the previous group confused and irritated, and pull in the 3 people in existence that wanted those new features, losing hundreds of the old groups.

Tux, the way you were describing Dotanuki's initiatives before, with the fairies and other douchebaggery, what audience do you think he was he going after with all the bizarre crap he wanted to add?  Did you guys ever have Senate discussions about what exactly he was smoking?  For the life of me, I know I can't figure it out.

That's 1st part is quite true and well said. This whole "zombie" crap is meant to appeal to "horror fans"...well...fan fiction book or not, the reality is, there are no zombies in Star Wars and...tbqh..."horror" is the LAST thing I think of when I think of "Star Wars".

Honestly Kylrathin...I'm not sure WHO Dotanuki was trying to target. If I were to guess, I'd say he tried to reach out to those players who asked for "events" like they have in other MMOs...but the way it was implemented was grossly warped. Players wanted "events", but they wanted Star Wars events...like AT-AT spawns, random Tuskin Raider raids, Rebels infiltrating Theed...for the holiday events, I didn't think anything was wrong with going to to a big ass tree and using the radial button on it...we didn't need "presents" to smash or trees to decorate...not in SWG.

Again, wrong market. I think it clearly illustrates how SoE doesn't have the first clue about this product or the people who play it.

We DID discuss it in Private too.

Galactic Moon Festival (his 1st "party") was fine. It was fresh and new...players generally enjoyed it...the 1st day...maybe 2...but it dragged on and on and on...even the supporters of it in the Senate said it was too much of a grind and too little "fun".

Life Day...the only good about Life Day was the 1st 48-hours. They introduced the SF element to gain more tokens...an idea I was quite supportive of. The problem again was, they left it up for far too long. But...Life Day had been an SWG tradition since launch. I didn't fault him for that, nor did many Senators.

Ewok Festival of Love...well...this is where he **edit**ed up BIG TIME! This is where he turned "events" into...just...weirdness. I avoided it while it was on TC/TCP for a few days until a friend urged me to try it. I went over there, saw what it was, ran 1 mission and logged in disgust. I went straight to the forums and posted a thread in private titled "Seriously?!?!?" I went on about how bizzar and utterly strange the event was. Part of me was hoping it was a joke, thinking maybe they would replace all the NPCs and "stuff" before it hit Live - sadly, it wasn't a joke. I warned them that this was game altering stuff, things that would last forever (virtually) in a game that had one of the more "realistic" feels to it. I begged them to change their minds...they didn't.

I wish I could recall how much support I had for my post, but I just don't. Typically it would be a few of the Senator's agreeing with me, several telling me it would be "fun" and that events were "good for the game" because they "allowed the Devs to test out new things...things that might be in the PvP Update".

Well, if pink flying Ewoks with purple hearts, fairy wings, sexually conflicted NPCs, gaudy wings and garishly dressed Elvis Ewoks were going to be a part of the PvP Update, I'd rather they not test them at all.

So...yes. Things were brought up, the good, the bad, the ghey...events did change a bit based on our (and the other players) feedback, and they DID try to make them less of a "grind" and more engaging...the problem was, the damage from Ewok Festival of Love had already been done.
